VOLVO CONSTRUCTIONBöllhoff organised a customer fair onthe factory premises of VOLVO. There,services, products and systems adap-ted to the specific customer needswere presented. Many of the VOLVOemployees could acquire informationabout the current developments of thefastening technology and as well asnew impulses and solutions for theirwork. Apart from that, the Böllhoff

experts held a presentation on theoptimisation potential of fasteners andassembly processes employed byVOLVO. The basis for these resultswas the analysis of processes carriedout in a line walk on the day of thepresentation in the company produc-tion facilities.

SmartBin® supply system One of Böllhoff’s supply systemsfeatures the so-called SmartBin®

technology, which was developed byBossard in Zug, Switzerland and islicensed to Böllhoff. The items to bestored and monitored are filled inboxes at the customer’s locations.Each of these boxes is placed onelectronic scales which serve as aweight detector. Böllhoff checks their

weight each day online and thusascertains the customer‘s current on-site stock. As soon as the calculatedstock in a box drops below the defi-ned replacement limit, the items will beautomatically reordered. In practicethis has significantly reduced the stockand process costs for the customer.Process reliability has, on the otherhand, increased considerably.

BOMAGIn order to optimise assembly proces-ses and at the same time reduceassembly and procurement costs,Böllhoff application engineeringexperts analysed the complete faste-ning technology of certain BOMAGmodel series. After a considerablenumber of tests at the certified Böllhofflaboratory, the experts recommendedthe use of tapping screw DIN 7500,

for example. It is used without loss ofperformance and with constantassembly parameters (speed, torque,etc.) at different points, independentlyof the material thickness. Since threadcutting and post-processing as well asthe screw-nut combination are nolonger necessary, production as wellas assembly were considerablyoptimised.

Böllhoff’s flexibility and innovativestrength is reflected in its widerange of fastening and assemblyproducts for the production andmodernisation of the constructionmachinery industry: screws, nuts,thread inserts, quick-release faste-ners, rivets, standard and custom-made parts in all the requireddimensions and materials.
