The theme of the activity is “Maritime Culture in Indonesia: Marine Resilience and Historical Perspective”. Due to the Pandemic Covid-19, the ICP program has to be carried out virtually. The opening of the activity started at 09.00 am through the Zoom Meeting application on Monday (05/10). This year, ICP activities will be conducted 8 days straight. The Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation, Prof. dr. Muh. Nasrum Massi, Sp.MK, Ph.D., officially opened the activity. On this occasion, he welcomed 219 participants from 22 countries, including Bangladesh, Somalia, Cambodia, Canada, China, Colombia, Japan, Hong Kong, Kenya, Kuwait, Lebanon, Madagascar, Malaysia, Morocco, Nepal, Nigeria, Philippines, Scotland, Thailand, Netherlands, United Kingdom, and the United States. He also gave a brief description of the activities that the participants would experience, such as the culture of the Kajang tribe in Bulu- kumba Regency, the beauty of Bira Beach, and the culture in South Sulawesi. source: www.unhas.ac.id

PARTICIPANTS FROM 22 COUNTRIES JOINED IN THE 2020 INTERNATIONAL CULTURAL PROGRAM

OF UNIVERSITAS HASANUDDINInternational Office of Universitas Hasanuddin (Unhas) conducted the annual agenda, International Culture Program (ICP) in 2020. THE EMBASSY OF THE REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA IN CANBERRA, AUSTRALIA, & UNHAS HELD AUSTRALIA UPDATE 2020

Universitas Hasanuddin through the department of international relations science, Faculty of Social Sciences, and Political Sciences organized the “Australia Update 2020” in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia Canberra, Australia. The event took place via virtual through the Zoom webinar application, Tuesday 20 October 2020 started at 08.30 am (Central Indonesia Time). The purpose of this event is to give information and the newest updates of Australia, in the context of bilateral relationship and cooperation with Indonesia.

The opening of the Australian Update 2020 webinar began with an opening speech from the Rector of UNHAS Prof Dwia Pulubuhu, Ambassador of Australia to Indonesia H.E. Garry Quinlan, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Australia cum Vanuatu H.E. Y. Kristiarto S Legowo.

Prof. Dr. Dwia, Rector of Hasanuddin University thanked the trust given to Unhas to be the organizer of this activity. She also said that currently, Unhas carries the spirit of communiversity and humaniversity. Unhas has experts and activities that

can support the development of society as well as humanity. This can be the basis for representing Indonesia, especially in establishing good relations with Australia.

H.E. Gary Quinlan also expresses his appreciation for this event. He said that Australia Update 2020 initiated by The Embassy of Canberra may be a place to discuss the relationship between these countries to build good mutual understanding.

The theme for Australia Update 2020 is “Partnership for Recovery from Covid-19: Opportunities and Challenges after the IA-CEPA Implementation”. The webinar is divided into three sessions, where Session I raises “The Dynamics of the Political Situation in Australia: Its Impact on Indonesia ”, session II an update on “Australia’s Economic Situation and its Policies”, and Session III on the “Development of people-to-people contacts between Indonesia-Australia”

UNHAS AND UITM PAHANG MALAYSIA COLLABORATE TO DEVELOP THE THREE PRINCIPLES OF HIGHER EDUCATION

Unhas and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Pahang Malaysia have jointly agreed to cooperate in terms of developing the three principles of higher education.The agreement was stated in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the Rector of Unhas (Prof. Dr. Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu, MA) and Rector of UiTM Pahang (Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohd Ilham bin Adenan) which took place at 09.30 am virtually through the Cisco Webex application, Tuesday (27/10).

The rector of Pahang UiMT, Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohd Ilham bin Adenan said that the signing of the MoU was aimed to improve the cooperation between the two parties, especially in the fields of academic development, training, as well as student and lecturer exchanges as the implementation of the student mobility

program which is expected to improve good relations between the two universities.

On the same occasion, Unhas Rector, Prof. Dr. Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu, MA. expressed her gratitude for the trust given to build a network of cooperation which can be a very good strategy for both parties to improve the quality of education, and it is hoped that this cooperation could be well organized to encourage and produce competitive human resources in the near future.

UNIVERSITAS HASANUDDIN AND THE UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY HEFEI, CHINA COLLABORATED IN CULTURAL EXCHANGE

Universitas Hasanuddin (Unhas) and The University of Science and Technology Hefei, China, initiated a collaboration in Indonesia-China Cultural Exchange.

The collaboration was virtually started on 28 of October 2020, through the zoom meeting application. It was marked with the gong hit by General Gou Haodong from the ministry of international affairs of Tiongkog together with Prof. Liang Liang (The Rector of The University of Science and Technology Hefei, China) and was virtually witnessed by Prof. Dr. Akin Duli (The Dean of The Faculty of Social Sciences Unhas) and other academicians of Unhas.

To strengthen the bilateral relations, the University of Science and Technology Hefei established a Department of Indonesian Language which aims to improve the understanding of Indonesia and to encourage competent human resources.

The Rector of Unhas, Prof. Dr. Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu, MA., stated her appreciation andenthusiasm for the collaboration. She said it was very strategic specifically in the digital era nowadays which gives a broad opportunity to learn the culture and at the same time to strengthen the relations between both cultures.

She explained that in Unhas, The Faculty of Cultural Sciences manages a mandarin language center as a part of the implementation of the collaboration and at the same time supports the students with related study to develop their knowledge. Unhas continues to strengthen its contribution both nationally and globally. Through this event, She hoped it will remind the alumni of both universities to have high awareness in putting forward their local wisdom.

FACULTY OF MARINE AND FISHERIES SCIENCES OF UNIVERSITAS HASANUDDIN HELD AN INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON MARINE

RESILIENCE CALLED MARSAVE

Faculty of Marine and Fisheries Sciences, Universitas Hasanuddin (Unhas), organized a virtual International Conference entitled Marine Resilience and Sustainable Development (MARSAVE) with the title of “Strengthening Marine Resilience for Sustainable Development Goals”. The event started from 08.30 until 16.00 Central Indonesia Time on Zoom Meeting and broadcasted on the youtube channel of the Faculty of Marine and Fisheries Sciences, Saturday (10/10).

Peter Mous (The Nature Conservancy, Indonesia Fisheries Conservation Program), Sue Wells (IUCN WCPA – Marine), Dr. Dominik Michael Kneer (Leibniz Center for Tropical, Marine Research, Germany), and Theresa Dabruzzi, Ph.D. (Assistant Professor Department of Biology Sains Anselm College, Manchester, New Hampshire) were invited as speakers.

The event was also attended by Dr. Lain C. Neish (Director, PT Sea Six Energy Indonesia), Sebastian Thomas (Curtin University, Australia), Maarten De Brauwer (National Geographic Explorer, Australia), Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc), Laurence J. McCook, Ph. D., (World Wildlife Fund, Hongkong), and Dr. Shaili Johry (Stanford University, USA).

This is International Conference is divided into several sessions, where each session ends with a discussion and Q&A session. As many as 107 papers have been collected for oral presentations, and there are 27 posters from several countries from Europe, Asia, and America.

UNIVERSITAS HASANUDDIN HELD AN INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON VETERINARY SCIENCE

Universitas Hasanuddin (Unhas), through the Department of Veterinary Science, Faculty of Medicine, held the first international conference entitled “The 1st International Veterinary Science Virtual Conference”. The conference’s theme was “Veterinary Science and Technology for One Health, Aquatic and Tropical Disease in Animals.” via the zoom meeting application on Sunday (04/10).

The Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of Unhas, Prof. Dr. Ir. Muh. Restu, MP., officially opened the activity. In his remarks, he expressed his appreciation and support for the conference. He hoped that this conference would become a means of information for strengthening networks and collaboration among the universities involved.

The Vice-Dean for Research of FK Unhas, Dr. dr. Rina Masadah, Sp.PA., M.Phil., representing the leaders of the faculty, expressed her gratitude for the willingness of the speakers to share information and knowledge. There were some experts invited to be speakers,

Prof. Srihadi Agungpriyono, DVM., Ph.D. (Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Bandung Institute of Technology), Prof. Deni Noviana, DVM., Ph.D., DAiCVIM., (Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Bandung Institute of Technology), Yasmina Arditi Paramastri DVM., M.Sc., ACLAM (National University of Singapore), Prof. Dr. Ir. Hilal Anshari, M.Si., (Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences Unhas), Dr. Dorothy McKeegan (Glasgow University, UK) and Prof. Osamu Kawamura, Ph.D., (Kagawa University, Japan).

The head of the committee, Dwi Kesuma Sari, DVM., Ph.D., APVet., claimed that this first conference received 98 papers on various topics in veterinary medicine, such as animal anatomy, physiology, pathology, animal disease, and veterinary public health. These papers would go through a review process and be published in Scopus indexed journals and proceedings.

INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE HELD BY FACULTY OF ECONOMIC AND BUSINESS TALKED ABOUT

ECONOMY IN THE NEW NORMAL ERA

The 5th International Conference in Accounting, Management, and Economics (ICAME) by Faculty of Economic and Business brought “New Normal Economy: Risk-Based Decision Making on Economics, Management, and Accounting Perspective” as the theme. Present as speakers; Prof. Purnomo Yusgiantoro Ph.D., (former Minister of Defense & Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Republic of Indonesia), Dr. Lehan Stemment (President Auckland Institute of Studies), Xie Taojun, Ph.D. (Asia Competitiveness Institute Lee Kuan Yew School of the Public Policy National University of Singapore) and Rayendra Khresna Brahmana, Ph.D. (Senior Lecturer University Malaysia Sarawak Associate, Managing Editor International Journal of Business and Society).

Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahman Kadir, M.Si., CIPM., as the Dean of FEB Unhas explained that the Covid-19 pandemic has affected various sectors of life, including the economic sector. This is

of course a challenge but we should think of ways so that the pandemic does not completely impact the lives of people, especially the economy.

The conference was officially opened by the Vice-Rector for Unhas Research and Innovation, Prof. dr. Muh. Nasrum Massi, Sp.MK, Ph.D. In his speech, he appreciated the initiative and commitment of FEB Unhas to held this event.

this conference continued to the main session. As much as 250 people joined this international conference, and the conference was held in 2 days in a row. This conference discusses the impact of Covid-19 on the economic sector, both regionally, nationallyand globally and the impact felt on the business sector as well as efforts to rebuild the economy in the new normal era.

FACULTY OF LAW OF UNIVERSITAS HASANUDDIN INITIATED A COLLABORATION WITH THE INTERNATIONAL RED CROSS

Faculty of Law of Universitas Hasanuddin and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) initiated cooperation in the field of developing the Three Pillars of Higher Education. This was conveyed at a meeting between the delegation of the Faculty of Law Unhas, Prof. Dr. Farida Patitttingi SH, M. Hum, and staff with the ICRC team. The ICRC is a neutral, humanitarian-based international organization and the founding body of the Red Cross Movement which aims to protect and assist victims of war.

The ICRC delegation consisted of Benoit Chavaz as Deputy Head of the ICRC Delegation for Indonesia and Timor-Leste, Dominic Earnshaw as Networking Advisor, and Donny Putranto as ICRC Legal Advisor. Dean of the Faculty of Law, Prof. Maasba Magasing (Professor of International

Law) also accompanied him, along with Dr. Iin Kartika Sakharina as the Head of the Department of International Law, Dr. Birkah Latif as Head of Legal Clinic, and Amaliyah and Mutiah Wenda as Lecturers of the Faculty of Law, Hasanuddin University.

The purpose of this meeting is to convey the latest activities currently being carried out by ICRC Indonesia, especially teaching International Humanitarian Law at Universities, the response to Covid-19, and the ICRC’s latest program called “Humane Values”. Prof. Farida also said that this meeting would be continued with cooperation in the field of education such as research, materials for several courses and as a first step a memorandum of understanding would be made even though the process was still online.source: www.unhas.ac.id
