Kiddush Sponsored by Hart & Simona Hasten, in memory of his father, Bernard (Dov ben Mordechai) Hasten, whose Yahrzeit is this Motzei Shabbos & Sunday. Speedy Recovery Our best wishes to Dr. Gad Flaumenhaft, our president, for a speedy and full recovery from his recent surgery. Unveiling An unveiling has been scheduled for the monument of Wolf Pakula, may he rest in peace. It will take place on this coming Sunday morning, April 22, 11 a.m. at Bnai Torah Cemetery. The public is welcome to attend. May the memory of Wolf Pakula serve as a source of comfort & inspiration to the entire family. Calling All Women! Rabbi Gettinger will be teaching a new weekly class, starting this coming Monday, April 23rd, 7:00 pm at the shul. This 3 week class is on the Book of Rus (Ruth) in preparation for Shavuos. Shavuos is the anniversary of the passing of King David, who descended from Rus. Rus was a modest, righteous woman who, despite many difficulties, converted to Judaism because of her true love for Torah and mitzvahs. It is from her that King David and the entire line of Judean kings descended and from whom our righteous Messiah will be born. To a certain extent all of Jewry converted like Rus on the holiday of Shavuos when we accepted the Torah and all its mitzvahs in sincere faith. Therefore, Megillas Rus (the book of Ruth) is read in the synagogue on the second day of Shavuos. If you would like to be added to the class email list or if you have any questions, please contact Sandy Koehler: (Cell 703-347-2536, email: [email protected]). JCC Café Please patronize our JCC Café. See their exciting new spring menu & their fantastic pizza menu on pages 3 & 4.
