Nature Camps Assateague Coastal Trust Nature Explorers Summer Enrichment Program. Assateague State Park Programs Junior Beach Patrol Kids ages 8 to 14 are invited to get a taste of what it’s like being a part of the Assateague State Park Beach Patrol by training with the lifeguards! Participants will have the opportunity to learn about and get involved with many different components of lifeguarding, including lessons about beach and ocean ecology; basic surf rescue techniques; physical fitness challenges; and rescue equipment and how it is used. 410-641-2120Junior Naturalist Birthday PartiesAssateague State Park welcomes you and your group to come out for a birthday party with an educational theme. After a guided beach hike and scavenger hunt, we’ll treat your child, family, and friends to a close-encounter with some of the Assateague animals living in our Nature Center. Visit the Ranger Guided Programs page on their website for weekly programs. Junior Ranger Junior ranger program is for kids 6 and up. It’s easy and fun to be a junior ranger. Learn more about the seashore and earn a Junior Ranger badge. Ask for an activity booklet at the visitor center. When you have completed the activities in the booklet, you’ll receive a Junior Ranger certificate and a badge.

Mini-Ranger ProgramA Mini-Ranger Program is available for kids ages 4-5. Learn more about the seashore and earn a Mini-Ranger badge. Ask for an activity booklet at the visitor center. When you have completed the activities in the booklet and attended a ranger-guided program, you’ll receive a Mini-Ranger certificate and a badge. Both the Junior Ranger and the Mini-Ranger programs are available year-round.Also available at the Barrier Island Visitor Center are nature films, aquarium and hands-on discovery tank, exhibits about island life and the wild Assateague horses and a great gift shop to find that perfect souvenir. www.nps.gov/asis/ 410-641-1441

Pocomoke River State ParkPark Ranger and Naturalists offer nature programs and guided canoe/kayak trips throughout the year. They also have a catch and release fishing pond for little anglers, an Olympic size pool and a marina store serving ice cream!The Nature Center at Pocomoke River State Park is a must see. The facility houses interactive exhibits and tanks containing reptiles, amphibians and fish native to the Pocomoke River area. 410-632-2556 x106

Furnace Town Living Heritage MuseumTake a step back in time at Furnace Town Living Heritage Village. Explore the village and visit our artisans dressed in costume and learn what they do and about the ways of life long ago. Ocean City Lifesaving Station MuseumThe ever-changing saltwater exhibit contains two 250 gallon and many smaller aquariums filled with interesting creatures indigenous to the Ocean City waters and play the aquarium seek and find game. The museum offers free programs six mornings a week, with topics ranging from knot tying to “All About Sharks.” Little Keepers Day Room-Play Room is an interactive children’s discovery room where kids can play and learn what it was like to be a Surfman in the U.S. Life-Saving Service.
