Chief’s Corner

July is typically one of our busiest months for special

events. Some of the events that were handled included the

3rd of July Fireworks, 1st Friday Car Show, Kiwanis' Kiddie Pa-

rade, The Taste of Park Ridge and Concerts in the Park. All

events went well and staff did a good job in preparing for

these events.

Staff worked on two internal initiatives—the ADP sys-

tem and the new telephone system. A number of staff mem-

bers are now using the clock-in system. Our phone system

has been changed and now offers a menu of contacts for a

caller. As with any new system, we continue to work the

bugs out of the systems.

Phase I finally got underway due to the weather de-

lays. Work was completed on the sewer system and water

mains.

The future of our police dispatching continues to be a concern. We need to continue to look at

options.

Mr. Doug Hayse was hired as the new CSO Coordinator, replacing Carol Brown. Mr. Hayse has

over 28 years of police experience, and he brings a lot of talents to this position.

Some other activities included the following:

Story time at the Library

Planning for National Night Out

Annual Fitness Testing at Lutheran General Hospital

MCYAF Partner of the Year Award

July Events

MCYAF presented the Chief Kaminski and the

Police Department with an award for “Partner

of the Year” at the July 8 COW Meeting.

The Department participated in the Taste of Park Ridge July 11-14,

offering a free game for kids to play, handing out information on

volunteer opportunities with the Department , as well as info on

upcoming events, and offering people to “test their strength” while

raising money for Special Olympics.

Detective Sergeant Bob Kampwirth and Of-

Officer Robert Evans were a few of the many

officers that walked through and helped en-

sure the safety of everyone that attended the

Taste of Park Ridge. Newly assigned Beat Team Leader Officer Robert Evans stopped at a

lemonade stand in Beat 3 to talk with the kids in his beat.
