Work with hook 5.5 mm (I) and MC in continuous rounds, do not join. Use stitch marker or contrast yarn to mark beginning of each round.

Sl st in next st, do not break yarn, cont to work rib edging as follows:

Rnd 26-40: ch 1; [fpsc in ea of next 2 sts; bpsc in ea of next 2 sts] 20 times; join with sl st to beg ch = 80 sts. (To adjust your hat height, work some extra row(s) or fewer row(s) of rib st)

Fasten off and weave in ends. Turn your hat inside out, so the RS of the ribbed hem would appear on WS of the hat. Then fold 3.25” (8 cm) to RS at the bottom of the hat. Secure the hem at the front where you plan to attach the flower (or at back for the hat without a flower).

DAHLIA:Work with hook 3.75 mm ( F ) and CC in rows.

To beg: ch 81 (includes 75 chs of the flower base and 6 chs of first petal)

Petal 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook; sc in ea of next 4 chs of first petal; sl st in next ch of the flower base = 5 sc sts

Petal 2 - 75: ch 6; sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in ea of next 4 chs; sl st in next ch of the flower base = 5 sc sts

• Finish off leaving a long tail for sewing.

• Starting from the center of the flower, roll flower base spirally, and secure layers on WS by stitching through the layers of foundation chain creating compact circle.

• Sew the flower to the hat.
