O Jesus, Eternal Priest, keep Thy servants within the shelter of Thy Sacred Heart, where none may harm them. Keep unstained their anointed hands, which daily touch Thy Sacred Body. Keep unsullied their lips, purpled with Thy Precious Blood. Keep pure and unearthly their hearts, sealed with the sublime mark of Thy glorious Priesthood. Let Thy holy love surround them and shield them from the world’s contagion. Bless their labors with abundant fruit, and may the souls to whom they minster be here below their joy and consolation, and in Heaven their beautiful and everlasting crown. Amen.

O Lord Jesus Christ, great High Priest, I pray that You call many worthy souls to Your holy priesthood. Enlighten the Bishop and Vocation Director in the choice of candidates, the Spiritual Directors in molding them, and the professors in instructing them. Lead the seminarians daily in Your unerring footsteps, so that they may become priests who are models of purity, possessors of wisdom, and heroes of sacrifice. May they be steeped in humility and aflame with love for God and man, apostles of Your glory, and sanctifiers of souls.

Mary, Queen of the Clergy, pray for us. Amen.

PRO-LIFE REFLECTIONS

If anyone does sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. ~1 Jn 2:1

REFLECTION: Often, we tend to think that God is advocating against those who have committed sins against human life and dignity.

Scripture tells us, however, that if we sin, He advocates for us – not, of course, to justify the sin but to justify us, to bring us reconciliation, healing, and salvation. This is true precisely because of the dignity of the human person.

PRAYER: Lord, as we steadfastly oppose sins against human life and dignity, may we steadfastly proclaim Your mercy and healing.

FREEDOM FOR MISSION - June 21st to July 4th

The Fortnight for Freedom is held each year from June 21st (the vigil of the Feasts of St. John Fisher and St. Thomas More)

to July 4th, Independence Day.

Almighty God, Father of all nations, for freedom you have set us free in Christ Jesus (Gal 5:1). We praise and bless you for the gift of religious liberty, the foundation of human rights, justice, and the common good. Grant to our leaders the wisdom to protect and promote our liberties; By your grace may we have the courage to defend them, for ourselves and for all those who live in this blessed land. We ask this through the intercession of Mary Immaculate, our patroness, and in the name of your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, with whom you live and reign, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

NOVENA IN HONOR OF ST. BENEDICT July 3rd -11th

Feast of St. Benedict – July 11th

Our Holy Father, blessed by God both in grace and in name, yielded his angelic spirit into the hands of his Creator, while standing in prayer with his hands raised to heaven.

You have crowned him, O Lord, with glory and honor.

You have placed him over the works of your hands.

Enliven in Your Church, O Lord, the spirit which animated our Holy Father, the Abbot St. Benedict, so that, filled with the same spirit, we may learn to love what he loved and to practice what he taught.

Grant us perseverance in Your holy service, O Lord, so that the people serving You in our days may increase both in merit and in number. May all the monks in the ranks of the saints join their intercessions to ours so that You, Almighty Father, may hear us through Christ, our Lord. Amen.

COME LET US ADORE HIM! “FETE-DIEU DU TECHE”, a Eucharistic Boat Procession down Bayou Teche, will take place on the FEAST OF THE ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY, TUESDAY, AUGUST 15. All are invited to a Mass in French at 8:00am at St. Leo

the Great in Leonville to begin the day. Bishop Douglas Deshotel will preside and give the homily. At the end of Mass, there will be a procession from Church with the Blessed Sacrament to the boat landing. At 9:30am 50 boats will disembark in procession and make their way down Bayou Teche, retracing part of the actual journey of our Acadian ancestors, toward St. Martinville. The boat procession will stop at each Church along the way for recitation of the rosary and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament (10:20am in Arnaudville; 11:45am in Cecilia; 1:35pm in Breaux Bridge; 3:15pm in Parks). The procession will arrive in St. Martinville at about 4:45pm and disembark behind Notre Dame de Perpetuel Secours and enter the Church for Benediction. The procession will continue on foot to St. Martin de Tours for 5:15pm Benediction and then down main street to Mater Dolorosa Chapel for Solemn Vespers and Final Benediction at 6:00pm. Confessions will be heard at each of the stops along the way. For more information about the day or to register a boat visit our website at www.fetedieuduteche.org, send us an email at [email protected], or call (337) 394-6550.

2017 MAN-TO-MAN CATHOLIC MEN’S CONFERENCE

Saturday, August 19th; 8:00am – 2:00pm Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church

2319 Johnston Street, Lafayette

WHAT IS MAN-TO-MAN?

As men of God, we are invited to a living, loving relationship with Him. Our world today is a challenging one, and one that often distracts us from what’s most important.

The Man-to-Man Catholic Men's Conference began in 2006 when a handful of local men realized that there was a need for a one-day, high-impact gathering centered on the faith. That initial conference in April, 2007 has grown into an every-other-year event directed at the hearts and souls of the thousands of men who have attended.

The Man-to-Man Conference is a time for spiritual growth and renewal.

Since the first conference in 2007, huge numbers of men from all walks of life have been drawn to the conference's solid spiritual teaching and inspiration.

Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church will once again be the conference site. We will welcome national and regional speakers who will teach the Catholic faith and preach inspirational messages of hope.

Confession will be available during the entire conference.

Holy Mass will be celebrated in the morning.

Morning coffee and donuts and a jambalaya lunch are included in your registration.

This event will encourage you, inspire you, and empower you to become the best version of the man God has intended you to be. It’s a day filled with hope. Join your brothers in Christ.

The Man-to-Man Conference is open to all men ages 18 and over. We hope to see you there.

What a difference a day makes!

OUR LADY OF MOUNT CARMEL

Feast Day, July 16th

The sisters of the MONASTERY OF MARY, MOTHER OF GRACE in Lafayette invite us to pray with them the annual Mt. Carmel Novena in preparation for the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, July 16th.

“Mary’s purpose is . . . to call the world back to simplicity, to the essentials: conversion, prayer and the sacraments.”

~Pope Benedict XIV

NOVENA PRAYER Hail, Mother of the Lord. You are blessed among women and the honor of our people. You came to Fatima to call humanity back to God and to obtain peace for the world. Your Immaculate Heart is the sign and promise of that triumph. Turn your eyes of mercy toward us as we call upon you in prayer. You are the Image of the Church clothed with the Sun. Enlighten Pope Francis, our bishops and priests with the light of the Holy Spirit. You are the Messenger of God’s mercy to the world. Strengthen all His children to live according to His law and to avoid all that displeases Him. You are the Queen of Peace. Inspire world leaders to work for peace by overcoming the wars, hatred, violence and terrorism that oppress the nations. You are the Lady of the Rosary of Fatima. In this valley of tears show the sick, the suffering and troubled, parents and children, how to turn to you in prayer and find strength by meditating on your example in times of joy or sorrow, abundance or need. You are the Mother of Mount Carmel. Help all who are consecrated to you through the Scapular to wear it not only as a sign of dedication to you but of a life lived with, in and through you. You are our Way to God. With total confidence we commend our needs and sorrows, our hopes and interests (mention your intentions) to your maternal care, O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary. Amen.

NOVENA SCHEDULE Saturday, July 8th through Sunday, July 16th

Rosary at 5:30pm followed by Mass at 6:00pm each evening Novena celebrant and homilist: Fr. Thomas Reeves, O.C.D.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROUS DONATIONS AND STEWARDSHIP! BECAUSE OF YOUR GENEROUS SUPPORT,

WE HAVE A WONDERFUL PLACE OF WORSHIP.

A STEWARDSHIP MOMENT THIRTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

In today’s Gospel, Jesus minces no words: “whoever does not take up his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.” Few of us will be called to die the way Jesus did. But to be His disciples means having the willingness to lay down our lives with Him and for Him. Exercising good stewardship of the Gospel requires taking up one’s cross daily and following Jesus. There will be dying to do on our way to the Father. It could be unfair treatment, health problems, fatigue, frustration at work, failed relationships, loneliness or sadness. If we, like Jesus, encounter and accept suffering, we will bring the hope of the cross to others. There is no cross the Lord’s love cannot transcend. In your reflections this week, consider how your cross, no matter how heavy, might become an instrument of hope and

Christ’s love.

ROSARY FOR PEACE The Rosary for peace for our country and our soldiers will be prayed every Thursday before 6:30am Mass.
