Please plan on attending our Annual Meeting following the 9:30 AM service on Sunday, January 27. We will elect new Ves-try members and honor our retiring Vestry members: Robin Anstaett (Warden), Kurt Anstaett, Marcy Champagne and Lawson Whitesides.

We are all then invited to share a brunch provided by the Hospitality Committee in the McClain room. This is a great way to start off the new year. Come for the inside scoop and stay for a great brunch.

Please join us at the home of Sherry Gormanous, 632 Melrose Ave., Kenilworth, Monday, Janu-ary 7, at 6:30 PM, for conversation and refreshments. We come together to honor the grieving process, as we are attentive to one another and to the workings of God’s grace among us. We will have a variety of games, activities, food, and movies in order to get to know each other better and to deepen our faith.Why: Because our 7th Graders are awesome, too!

Christopher Powell will lead a group of chaperones and kids on an overnight of fun designed to deepen our faith and to have fun while we do it! Seventh graders are welcome to bring a friend.

Eigth Grade Lock In - January 11

When: Friday, January 11, starting at 7 PM. Children picked up at 8:30 Saturday morning. Where: The Great Hall, Christ Church, 470 Maple StreetWhat: An overnight with games, movies, laughter, food, conversation and other craziness in preparation for Confi rmation on Saturday, April 27.

Why: Because 8th Graders are awesome!

Christopher Powell will lead a group of chaperones and kids through a night designed to help prepare 8th graders for Confi rmation. Eighth graders are welcome to bring a friend.

Seventh Grade Lock In - February 1

Our Youth and Adult Choirs will sing Evensong on Sunday, January 27 at 6 PM. Choral music will include beautiful works by George Dyson and Craig Phillips. Please join us for a lovely, peaceful, and prayerful service with dinner fol-lowing afterward in the McClain Room.

Evensong - January 27

This year Epiphany falls on Sunday, January 6. We will have baptism during the 9:30 AM service as well as a visit by the Wise Men. All are invited to an Epiphany reception in the McClain Room after the 9:30 service. We will share King’s Cakes and there will be a crafts table for the children. All will have a chance for fellowship hosted by the Hospitality Committee and spearheaded by Melissa Durbin and Dar-lene McKinney. Please note that our Sunday evening dinners will also resume on the 6th.

Christmas Angels Ministry Touched Many Lives

Sit back and get ready for some amazing numbers. Last month through, the generosity of parishioners, Christ Church served a total of over 750 people under the umbrella of our Christmas Angels Ministry.

131 individual families were adopted from the Cathdral Shelter Christmas Basket program, equalling 490 people and 497 boxes.54 senior citizens from the Cathedral Shelter, 118 bags5 families from New Trier Township, right here in our own community each of whom received individual, customized gifts and food coupons

50 homeless men & women from Cathedral Shelter25 men at St. Leonards22 women at Grace House42 men at St. Andrews Court25 men at Higgins House11 Moms and 18 children at Primo Center

for whom we bought and wrapped:142 hats142 gloves92 t-shirts92 boxers22 nightgowns11 pajamas11 bathrobes11 clock radios33 slippers22 umbrellas61 fl eece blankets50 fl ashlights50 thermal socks50 bags of food83 toiletry kits

Through your donation of Halloween candy and mugs from Rummage, we also distributed 164 mugs of candy to many of the above.

Other highlights from this year’s gifts include: - a vacuum cleaner, pots and pans and dishes for a mom recently returned from the war in Afghanistan, who had been homeless - tickets to a Broadway Show for a handicapped student - a video camera for an autistic teenager in occupational therapy - 2 bikes - Whole Foods coupon for a mom going through 2nd round of chemo, in need of Organic food - food and gas coupons for a brother and sister recently abandoned by their parents

The Committee is led by co-chairs Julie Flood, Donna Voges and Charlotte McGee. In addition to individual parish and community members who adopt specifi c families, there is a larger committee who purchase gifts, toiletries, basic supplies, art supplies and food gift cards for the 50 home-less men and women, 10 large families from the Cathedral Shelter, St. Leonards, Grace House, St. Andrews Court, Higgins House, Primo Center and 54 senior citizens. In addition to the many volunteers who attended our workshops, this year’s committee was comprised of:

We are no longer accepting TVs and computer monitors with tubes (a.k.a. the fat ones). They simply do not sell any longer. We can only accept TVs and computer monitors with fl at screens. As it is a new IL state law that you may not put electronics in the trash, the Village of Winnetka will accept your tubed TVs and monitors at the Village Yards on Willow Road onTuesdays from 10 AM to 12 PM and on Thursdays from 1-3 PM.
