FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK...

My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, It is hard to believe that our summer season is already about to

come to an end. With the close of summer we look forward to

the opening of school. Please keep our

students at Corpus Christi Academy, the

Lyceum, and the various high schools

that our children have chosen, as well as

all who will be heading off to college, in

your prayers that they may have a

wonderful year. I pray that each of them

may have a most fruitful year of growing in age and wisdom.

College students: please remember to get to Mass weekly. High

on your “TO DO” list as you settle in for the first time (or as a

returnee) should be to get in touch with the chaplain on campus.

Let him know you are there and be sure to inquire about Mass

times, and confession times, and any ways that students might get

involved in the religious or service activities on campus.

May God’s blessings be yours this week. Father Ireland

KICKING OFF A NEW YEAR … WELCOME TO THE 2018-2019 SCHOOL

YEAR AT CORPUS CHRISTI ACADEMY!

As we begin our journey into the third year at the Academy and look forward to the future with excitement, we recall

how last year was filled with many exciting milestones:

the birth of the Positive Behavior Program CCA S.O.A.R.S. (Serving Others as Respectful Students)

the first ever Literacy night

STREAM activities throughout the Academy with the 5th grade partnering with the Akron Zoo

CYO city championships

published authors and artists through various competitions including LifeWorks and the Fleet Reserve Association

Service learning throughout the Academy that included partnerships with CYO and the Cleveland Clinic

the DuckTape Anti Bullying Stick Together program that is going to be a club this year modeled by our 8th graders

the dynamic teachers engaging students in project-based learning in their classrooms.

This past summer we finalized several improvements to the Academy to increase the safety of our students. The main

Academy entrance now has an extra set of doors to help bring visitors to the main office before going through the

school; bollards were installed to delineate between the parking lot and sidewalk for students during drop-off and

dismissal; the back lot was resurfaced to help with recess; new tile flooring has been installed in the art and tutor rooms,

while new carpet tiles are in the media center and Mrs. Greathouse’s room. A huge thank you to Tony and Joe DeFranco

as well as Mr. Oriti and Mr. Skala who have done a phenomenal job of cleaning and preparing the building.

Our school theme this year from Pope Francis: Do not bury your TALENTS, the gifts that GOD has given you,

Do not be afraid to dream of big things!

Welcome, Mrs. Duncan,Pre-K director/lead teacher; Mrs. Brutt, Music teacher; Ms. Gowman; Speech/Language

Pathologist; Mrs. Brennan, aftercare; and Mrs. Schneiderman, cafeteria manager. If you have not yet met the other staff

of Corpus Christi, you can view their information on the school webpage corpuschristiacad.org/ or stop by at the Open

House on Wednesday. September 5th, 2018 at 6:30pm in the Academy gymnasium.

God Bless.

“Thank you” to all who faithfully support our parish

each week. We depend on your generosity to carry out

the mission of Jesus Christ in South Euclid. It is only

with your continued and regular support that we can

provide the current variety of parish ministries to

them. If you have discontinued your financial suport,

please consider reinstating that practice.

Parents: Please encourage your children to develop the

practice of bringing their envelopes weekly when they

come to church with you.

If you would be interested in a carefree way to

contribute to your parish each month, please call

Eileen Gerome at the Parish Office Monday thru

Wednesday (216.382.7601). She will be happy to

assist you in setting up this option with either the Sts.

Margaret and Gregory Credit Union or the bill payer

feature with your own personal banking institution.

AUGUST 19, 2018 TWENTIETH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY T IME

THE 2018 MAIN EVENT & RAFFLE PRODUCED FUN & FUNDS SUFFICIENT TO “FUND” SEVERAL PROJECTS THAT WOULD

ENHANCE OUR ENTRYWAYS AND MAKE NECESSARY REPAIRS TO THE ADORATION CHAPEL & MARY’S ROOM.

Thank you!! Because of your generous support of our annual fundraiser, we were able to

provide a warm and welcoming environment for visitors and parishioners alike, that begins at

the doors and moves forward through the Church and into other gathering areas within the

Church Building. We hope, by now, you have noticed some of these improvements to our space: **

Digital monitors at four church entrances. These will

inform parishioners and visitors about Parish events,

provide inspirational and spiritual messages, and include

other helpful Parish information.

Step treads to replace the worn carpet at the two

entrances closest to the parking lot. These will improve the

overall appearance and will be easier to clean (especially in

winter).

Ceiling repair and repainting in the Blessed Sacrament

Chapel and in Mary’s room.

Terrazzo floor cleaning and polishing in the sanctuary, sacristy and vestibule.

** The total cost of these projects surpassed the amount generated by our fundraiser and thus were covered by

monies available in the General Fund. Yet to come are lighting improvements in the vestibule and outside the

wooden doors onto Green Road (Materials to complete this are on order.)
