Dear Parishioners:

For I, the Lord, do not change (Malachi 3:6).

How reassuring this word from God is, delivered

through the prophet Malachi. Those who were at Saint

Mary for Mass last weekend, or who spoke with someone

who was, undoubtedly heard the news of a significant

change in the life of the parish community. On June 13,

Fr. Joe Seebauer will be embracing a new assignment as

the pastoral leader of two parishes in Bedford, Ohio: Saint

Mary of the Immaculate Conception Parish and Our Lady

of Hope Parish. Formally, he has been assigned Adminis-

trator, with the anticipation of being names Pastor once a

new Ordinary (diocesan bishop) has been chosen for the

Diocese of Cleveland. Within that same time frame, we will be welcoming Fr. Ed Schwet as our new Parochial Vicar. Fr. Schwet will celebrate his 35th anniversary of priesthood on June 12 and his birthday is June 14! Most recently, he has served in chaplain ministry at Lake Health Hospitals. Interest-ingly, he is originally from Bedford, where Fr. Joe is go-ing. Wow! In the midst of much change in our lives, God remains constant! And now, a word regarding this coming Friday: why a concert? As I began to project the observance of my ju-bilee, of course the centerpiece would be a celebration of Mass. Naturally, music will be a considerable part of that liturgy next Saturday evening. Additionally, beyond wor-ship, singing has been as close to a constant in my life as anything. Yet, if I was going to ask people to come and listen, it struck me that there ought to be a cause beyond the event. Therefore, the idea of a benefit with multiple beneficiaries came to be. I am delighted that something I so enjoy doing can bring about good for others in need. Once again, the three recipients are: The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, the Gabriel Project, and the Wooster Hope Center. All three of these organizations promote the dignity of life and tend to vulnerable members within our society. Praise God for their work! Anyone addition-ally desiring to honor this occasion may direct a contribu-tion toward one of these vehicles of justice and charity. This Sunday evening, at the 5:30 p.m. Mass, we honor our graduating Seniors. While this is primarily at the high school level, we rejoice with all of our young men and women who are reaching milestones in their academ-ic journeys. At this Mass, we will present the Magnificat Scholarship. This year, we had an outstanding group of applicants. Blessings to all of our young people. May the Lord protect and grow the good He has begin in you! Finally, as many will have noticed, the well-anticipated work on the masonry of the church has begin. During the next two-and-one-half months, the work crew will be ad-dressing all levels of the structure on three sides of the building. We truly hope that this is the “missing piece” that leads to cessation of the compromising of the plaster in the interior of our most beautiful church. Please pray for the safety and success of these workers. Peace,
