SWITCH SUNDAY! JANUARY 24, 8:00 AND 10:00 a.m. SERVICESThe season of Epiphany celebrates the journey of the Magi to visit the Christ child, and the revelation of God’s self in the incarnation. The Vestry and the Children and Youth Council invite all parishioners to join us at the 8:00 or 10:00 a.m. services on January 24 for our own transformative Epiphany journey on Switch Sunday! Switch Sunday is an extraordinary day when all adults in our parish get to experience the delight of our Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program through atrium presentations. While the adults of the parish are enjoying their atrium encounters, our church school children will have the chance for their own one-on-one time with Trinity clergy, as they receive sanctuary tours and get to see sacramental materials up close. We will all come back together in the sanctuary for the Eucharist and celebrate together the unity and joy we find around God’s table.

TODAY IN THE CHURCH SCHOOL Children at Trinity meet most Sundays for the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program (CGS). Since each Level of the program covers a range of ages, often several lessons are offered each Sunday, with most children taking part in only one. Today Level I will work with the materials related to the parables of the Mustard Seed and of the Leaven. Level II will work with the wooden model of all the books of the Bible, and and begin their work with the material depicting the great variety of gifts God gives us in creation. Level III will begin work with materials reflecting on the work of some of the non-violent followers of Jesus from the last 100 years.

mid week worship

Tuesday Evening Eucharist: 5:30 p.m. Holy Communion and 20 minutes of silent meditation bring us together for rest and renewal in the company of others who also feel called to “watch and wait” in the presence of the Holy Spirit.

Two Contemplative Prayer Times: A Trinity group practices various forms of Christian contemplative prayer monthly on the second Wednesday evening, 7-8 p.m., in the Fireside Room. For more information, talk with Art (883-8105) or Judy Stevens (698-9309). A second opportunity is every Thursday, 12:15-12:45 p.m. in the chancel. Base Community Bible Study and Eucharist: Wednesdays, noon, in the library. This group meets each week for Bible Study and reflects on the upcoming Sunday’s gospel lesson. It closes with an informal Eucharist.

about pledging

Our vision of Stewardship recognizes that God is the giver and has blessed each one of us with many gifts. Common to us all is the privilege and blessing of how we use the precious gifts of our time, talent and treasure. Stewardship is the spiritual practice of discerning the use of these gifts in building God’s dream of love and justice in our hearts, relationships and world. At Trinity we call your gift of time and talent Shared Ministry and we call your gift of treasure a pledge. Pledge forms are available at the Welcome Table.

PSALM 29

REFRAINAscribe to the LORD, you gods, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.Ascribe to the LORD the glory that is due the holy name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.REFRAINThe voice of the LORD is upon the waters;the God of glory thunders; the LORD is upon the mighty waters. The voice of the LORD is a powerful voice; the voice of the LORD is a voice of splendor. The voice of the LORD breaks the cedar trees; the LORD breaks the cedars of Lebanon; The LORD makes Lebanon skip like a calf, and Mount Hermon like a young wild ox.REFRAINThe voice of the LORD splits the flames of fire;the voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness; the LORD shakes the wilderness of Kadesh. The voice of the LORD makes the oak trees writhe and strips the forests bare. And in the temple of the LORD all are crying, “Glory!”REFRAINThe LORD sits enthroned above the flood; the LORD sits enthroned as Sovereign for evermore. The LORD shall give strength to the chosen people; the LORD shall give the people the blessing of peace.REFRAIN
