Business trip to Drusilla's for our Year 12 Students The Oasis Academy Year 12 Business group visited Drusillas Animal Park on Wednesday 30 th April 2014 as part of their Markeng Level 3 Unit. The purpose of the visit was to see markeng techniques in acon. The students enjoyed a guided tour around the park followed by a markeng lecture. The trip was a huge success and students came away with a wealth of business markeng knowledge and how this is applied to a real business. The challenge for students now is to apply this experience to their learning within the classroom.

Year 11 Performing Arts

Drama Showcase

Wednesday 21 May 2014

7pm—8:30pm

West Site Theatre

A final night to celebrate Year 11 students’ achievements over the last 3 years. This is an opportunity to watch some very entertaining drama pieces with musical interludes from Year 12 Perform-ing Arts music students.

We hope you can join us!

The Players’ Football Academy, PFA, is coming to the Oasis

Academy’s East Site 3G Astro turf, starting on Wednesday 14 May

2014.

The PFA is run by Gillingham Football Club players, Captain Adam

Barrett, and star Striker Danny Kedwell, along with former

Gillingham Goalkeeper Tommy Forecast.

As well as the training sessions, students will have the

opportunity to play matches against some of the London youth

teams including Chelsea and Arsenal.

Training for 6 to 10 year-olds will be

held from 5:30pm until 6:30pm

Training for 11 to 15 year-olds will be

held from 6:30pm until 7:30pm

32 students from across the Academy have earned certificates for reading beyond 100,000 words. Congratulations to them all!

Chaise Weekes, Keberna Babu, Jamie Moody and Michael Ray

receiving their certificates.

Year 7 and 8 students have been enrolled in Accelerated Reader, a computer based

programme designed to encourage and monitor independent reading practice.

After finishing a book, students go online and take a quiz to test their comprehension. The programme stores data, keeping a running total of words read and quizzes passed.

Oasis Academy welcomes Hopscotch Dancers!

Hopscotch Dancers have recently taken up residency at our

West Site Sports Hall, every Saturday morning.

The dance classes are for boys and girls, and run from 10am until 12:30pm. Classes are open to children of all ages, starting at 5 years-

old.

Hopscotch dancers can be seen performing at many Primary Schools, fetes and fun days throughout the summer. They have recently performed to a packed house in our West Site Theatre.

New members are welcome to attend; just turn up on the day!
