CHILDBIRTH PREPARATION CLASSES

This program helps expectant couples understand and plan for the big event. Classes cover the physical and emotional changes that occur during pregnancy, how the mother’s partner can assist in childbirth, relaxation and breathing techniques, what happens during labor and delivery (including cesarean section birth), and recovery. The program includes a tour of the family birthing center. Each class series contains the same information. We suggest you plan to complete the program about four weeks before delivery date.

CHILDBIRTH PREPARATION “EXPRESS”

Designed for people who don’t have time for a traditional childbirth class schedule, this class will cover all the basics in a new two-day format and still leave your afternoon free. This program does not include a hospital tour. Please call 408-559-BABY to set up a separate tour.

BASIC BABY CARE

Basic baby care for expectant parents which includes newborn appearance and practicing with dolls to learn swaddling, diapering and bathing. Includes safety and feeding with the latest up-to-date information.

BREASTFEEDING CLASS

Our breastfeeding class is taught by an International Board Certified Lactation consultant. Our goal is to help you achieve a successful breastfeeding relationship with your baby. There will be time in class for practicing positions and a discussion on pumps and milk storage. Partners are encouraged to attend.

INFANT & CHILD CPR

Instruction in this class covers cardio-pulmonary resuscitation techniques specifically for infants and children. Private classes are available for parents with babies in the NICU, please call for information. One session.Fee: $50 per person.

CAR SEAT SAFETY

This class is taught by the California Highway Patrol. This class will teach you how to make sure that your baby is safe in the car seat. The instructor will demonstrate how to install a car seat in the class and be available for questions. Register online. Held in the Good Samaritan Hospital Auditorium. No fee.

SIBLING PROGRAM

This delightful program is designed to assist your child in anticipating the birth of your new baby. Through supervised play activities, the children gain a positive outlook toward the new arrival. Instructor demonstrates safe and proper ways to handle a newborn.
