• The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is a multiple-aptitude test that measures developed abilities to help predict future academic and occupational success in the military• Does not require that a test-taker with a qualifying score enlist

in the armed forces

The PSAT/NMSQT• Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test

(PSAT/NMSQT) is a program co-sponsored by the College Board and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC)

• A chance to enter NMSC scholarship programs and gain access to college and career planning tools

• Being administered Wednesday, October 11th at 7:40am at PHHS

• Registration is done online at

• The cost of the PSAT is $20.00

The ACT

• The ACT is a standardized college-readiness and high school achievement assessment

• The ACT contains five sections: 1. 45-minute English section

2. 60-minute Mathematics section

3. 35-minute Reading section

4. 35-minute Science Reasoning section

5. 30-minute Writing section (optional)

SSD-Testing Accommodations• Students with IEPs and 504 plans can apply for

testing accommodations

• Process for the SATs and ACTs are completely different

Advanced Placement (AP) Program

• AP courses are designed to give students access to rigorous college-level courses in high school to cultivate skills for an easier transition to college

• 85% of selective colleges and universities report that a student’s AP experience favorably impacts admissions decisions

• Course entails an AP exam (optional) around May to test the student’s knowledge• Certain scores (usually a 3 or above) in certain colleges and

universities may apply as college credit
