Huge Congratulations to Berry’s Robotics Coding Teams. Saturday, April 6th, they attended and won big at the State Robotics Competition at University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.

Upcoming 9th Grade Course

Requests

Course request verification forms for the 2019-

2020 school year will be distributed to 8th grade

students on Monday, April 22. Please review

your student's course requests and read all

instructions at the bottom of the form. Please

sign, date and have your student return the form

to the guidance office by April 30th. Students

will be allowed to make changes to course

requests without a fee until April

30th. Between May 1-May 24, there will be a

$50 fee assessed for a course request

change. No course request changes will be

accepted after May 24th.

8th Grade Slideshow

Our Student Council is in the process of putting together the 8th Grade End-of-Year Slideshow. We would love to make this project memorable by incorporating school/class photos from throughout the years at Greystone, Riverchase, Rocky Ridge and Shades Mountain, as well as Berry Middle School days. If you have any appropriate photographs to share, you can contribute them by emailing a picture(s) to: [email protected] INCLUDE: (1) your name and team in the subject of the email (if you are a parent, put your child’s name and team); (2) then attach the photo(s); (3) and send! Please DO NOT reply or send pictures to any other email. (You must send them to the email above for us to be able to use them.) The deadline for all submissions is May 1, 2019.

Chromebook Repairs

Repairs for student devices will shut down on May 17th for inventory and to prepare for the 2019-2020 school year. Repairs begin again June 10th. The pony will continue to pick up and deliver devices to the schools over the summer. Students may continue to leave broken devices at their home campus or they may bring them to Blue Ridge Gym and leave them for repair on Mondays between 10:00 and 12:00 starting on June 10th. The home campus will notify parents when devices may be picked up after repair.

Black Belt Challenge 5K and Fun Run Action Martial Arts is excited to announce a new martial arts-based adventure 5k and fun run to be held at Hoover’s Veteran’s Park on Saturday, May 18th, 2019. Proceeds from will be used to support local self-defense events, including anti-bullying programs in elementary schools, on-campus self-defense courses for college women, and self-defense seminars across the city. Our goal is to create an emotionally powerful and physically strong Birmingham! Inspired by the black belt test at Action Martial Arts, the Black Belt Challenge will test runners’ endurance and strength with a 5k followed by a series of martial arts challenges, including punching, kicking, and more. People of all ages and athletic abilities are invited to push their limits at this original and exciting take on the adventure race. No martial arts experience necessary! Students and their families are also invited to join the Fun Run, a just-for-fun 1-mile course. On-site festivities will include martial arts games, bouncy houses, food trucks, and more. Jag Clubs/Sports

Spain Park Colorguard Tryouts will be held on May 10th at 3:45 PM. Students that are interested must attend the mandatory clinic May 6-9th from 3:45-5:45 PM in the Spain Park Cafeteria. No experience is required. All students planning to tryout must have a current physical on file. A parent meeting will be held on April 16th at 6 PM in the Spain Park Cafeteria. Cheerleader Fundraiser

Berry Middle School's Cheer Program is in FUNDRAISING mode!! We are asking the

Jaguar Community to purchase a "JAGS" shirt. We are selling short sleeve, long sleeve, and sweatshirt options. Youth sizes are also available. Pre-Orders will be accepted March 22, 2019 through April 30, 2019. Orders will be distributed in May and will be available for pick-up at Berry Middle School. Shirts can be delivered by students with written permission (email will suffice). Exact dates and times will be sent at the close-out of the order period.
