Youll notice I add on a few words to the weekly Word Wall Words. This is because 1st grade has alarge list of Dolch Words the children must master. I choose the Dolch Words that go along with ourspelling focus and add them on. They should be easy for your children, but if not, study, study them!

Help! MONSTERS HAVE COME TO ROOM 42! Ha ha! Ask your children about the Class Dojoprogram we have been using in our classroom. Each child has his/her own monster with which to earndojo points and our Book Buddies have even helped us customize them. We have really beenhaving fun with this and the kids have earned many points for their monsters so far. View ourmonsters at:www.classdojo.comand see how many points your children have!

We will not be doing Bring and Bragfor the month of December. Instead, that time will be used forSocial Studies lessons. We will be traveling to far-away lands to learn more about how otherscelebrate the holidays. Maps will be used and your children will be able to tell you more about Israel

Africa, The Netherlands, Mexico, India, and Denmark. We will be skyping with a Danish friend of mineeating a European pudding, participating in a Mexcian procession, weaving African Kwanzaa mats, andmore! (If you could send in a dollar to help me cover the costs, that would be great! ) With eachlesson, we will be pin pointing that country on a world map the kids will later bring home. They will alsodo Venn Diagrams to compare/contrast our own holiday. December is going to be so much FUN!

Looking forward to the week ahead,
