As the first grade curriculum begins to advance, it takes up more of our class time. Therefore, Bring&Brag will be replaced with Daily 5 Math Centers/Social Studies/longer Genius Hour sessions.

On Monday, we attended an all-school assembly led by a firefighter from the FGFD. He talked to usabout fire safety and challenged us to make a poster to be entered into his contest. This isoptional, but DO talk to your child about fire safety in your home. I urge you to have a homefiredrill, just as we do at school. Remember to check your smoke detector batteries, as well!

SCOOTPAD: Soon, I will be launching the online learning platform called ScootPad. I talked withyou about this during our Meet & Greet at the public library in August. This is my second year using

it and have seen such success with it! Kids love it and it addresses academic expectations nicely. Please be sure to fill out and return the Technology Survey Im sending home this week. For asneak-peek video on ScootPad, head to the protopage. Dont set up an account yet, though!

Our Halloween festivities will begin at noon after lunch. We will be having a normal morning:Spelling test, literacy centers, AR testing, etc. Therefore, DO NOT send your child to school wearinghis/her costume. We will dress after lunch at noon to prevent food stains. Then, we will do funHalloween centers! I will need your help with this, as there will be 5 stations for our campers togo through. We will lead the all-school parade from 1:15-1:45 and then return to our room tofinish our last center. Donation notes were sent Wednesday for those of you who signed up duringour Meet&Greet, but if anyone else would like to donate, spoons and candy would be appreciated!

Our story next week is called Todds Box and its about a boy who collects things he finds on anoutside walk. With the beautiful Fall season upon us, take a walk with your camper and encouragehim/her to send in whats collected. We will put everyones findings in a box at our science table!

Confused about Book-It/DRA/AR/? I will be linking a video I made to the protopage (under theReading tab) to explain the three in greater detail. If you have further questions, PLEASE see me!

TABLE TALK: Jack & Rick, Bat inquiry during Genius Hour, Fire Safety, Christopher Columbus,Book Buddies and our cool new AR graph

Looking forward to the week ahead,
