The Palmdale School District adopted the Merit System over 40 years ago. Classified jobs are filled by adhering to the Merit System Principles as stated in Ed Code sections 45240 – 45320.
The Merit System was designed to protect workers against preferential treatment or discriminatory practices. The Merit System promotes the efficiency of the classified service through competitive examination in the hiring process.
