WHY YOU SHOULD CONSIDER JOINING CONSULTING
C O N T R I B U T E D B Y J A Y A N T
Today, consulting after MBA seems to be the preferred choice for the vast majority of MBA applicants. For some of course it is an escape from the comparatively monotonous corporate life that they have had so far. But for others, it is a dream that involves getting chance to work on new projects frequently, travelling, and helping clients fix their companies.
Due to its nature of varied and often frequently
changing projects, consulting allows those who
pick the career to rapidly try out industries,
functional areas, and even geographies to see
what they like most. Even if you want to join a
specific industry, consulting gives you the chance
to see different company cultures and meet new
people within the company, which can be a huge
step in picking your next career move.
While most people work their whole lives to
climb the corporate ladder and begin working
on companywide strategic problems, there are
just few lucky ones who skip years of executing
day to day duties and jump straight to working
on and solving problems a company faces,
providing a unique opportunity to exercise ones
strategy and gain exposure.

As we know networking is an essential part of
building wealth, joining a consulting firm is one
of the quickest and the most effective ways to
build a vast and valuable network. You get to
work with multiple clients and stakeholders
through the course of your different projects.
This in turn will help you build relationships
across multiple organizations that can well turn
into job offers in near future.

Consulting has a huge undercurrent of merit-based
opportunities and performance. If you are great at
what you do, you will be rewarded, and unlike many
other jobs you don’t have to wait for your boss to
leave to progress. You can also ask for “stretch” roles
where you are building your skill set outside of your
level.

Future Customer
Future Client
Customer and clients should be on the top of the priority list. Imagine opening your eyes in the
morning and your Smart house is there using advanced biometrics to sense you’re awake and
starts making an incredible difference. Heat purrs, coffee brews, lights adjust and music plays.
This assistant might predict the weather and traffic for the day, provide with information like
discounts on a product you desire to buy. Everything you need is happening with your minimal
efforts. So, we can understand technology will get advanced and will continue to touch our lives.
Delivering this level of service is no small feat.
To succeed, clients must take into
consideration all aspects of a customer’s life in
real-time. To achieve this, clients will need an
instantaneous, endless transfer of data,
housed in a limitless, unified space, that can
be continuously mined and used to create and
deliver truly personalized experiences. To
succeed and grow in this explosive
environment, all businesses—clients and
ourselves—need to embrace change; to
business models, and to how we’ll employ
technology to deliver results.
Future Consultant
Supporting the clients in their transformation
toward customer concentricity and helping
them streamline their businesses will not be
enough. Consultants have other roles to play.
The consultant of tomorrow will be a broker
of talent, a doer, a participant in the industry
rather than an ordinary consultant to it. By
2020, more than 75 percent of ideas, talent
and innovation will be sourced through eco-
systems of engagement, which will
fundamentally change the way clients work
and the way consultants work with their
clients.
