Sometimes called the 'Jesus Fish' because of

its link to the ancient Greek Ichthys.

The fish is an ancient symbol used by otherreligions, such as Buddhism and Paganism.

If someone believes a particular date (Easter

and Christmas for example) has some mystical

power, it is the value that person has placed

on it. The same goes for the Bible, the cross,

and all the other items adopted by Christians

that have a Pagan origin.

Since pre-Christian times we have wanted to

see our god. But we cannot physically see into

a different dimension, so we erect effigies of

what we think our god looks like. Often,

however, these items become idols in their

own right and people start to worship them.

CONCLUSION

Although Christianity and Paganism may be

similar it its rituals and beliefs they may not

serve the same significance. E.g. members

might consider their deity a saviour but not a

saviour from sin and damnation. Ritual baths

may not be the say as baptism. A communal

meal may not be the same as a ChristianEucharist. Afterlife may not be ofHeaven or

Hell.
