"More security and convenience"with lift-slide unitsThere is an increasing demand on both the security and easeof operation of doors. Due to their compact construction androbust fittings, Lift-slide doors generally provide a highprotection against burglary. The thermal break of the tubular threshold G.U-thermostepconsiderably reduces the heat flow at the bottom of glazedlift-slide and lift-tilt-slide doors.

The effect of thermal break:With normal interior air conditions – room temperature + 20° C,relative air humidity 50 % – condensation forms with a surfacetemperature of approximately + 9,2° C (dew point temperature).An effective thermal break will achieve with normal outsidetemperatures (down to - 15° C in winter) a surface temperatureclearly higher than + 9,2° C.Thus the formation of condensation will be prevented, thebottom area of the door will not suffer from moisture, a soundbuilding structure will be protected and preserved.

The 2-part locking bolts lock the sash firmly also in slit ventilation position, thus protecting the room against burglary during ventilation. They are fixed through the frame into steel plates on the outside securely.

The HS-SPEED Limiter is discretely concealed under a cover profile.

Thanks to sophisticated safety technology, the HS-SPEED Limiter excludesthe risk of injuries that might occur when heavy sliding sashes are moved.The picture shows a transparent cover revealing the mechanism.

When a large and heavy lift-slide element is opened or closed, the sash gains momentum due to the built-up kinetic energy and can only be slowed down with difficulty.The HS-SPEED Limiter prevents the sliding sash from accelerating too fast, thus avoiding personal injury and damage to the property itself.The system is therefore especially suited for use in buildings with enhanced safety requirements such as, e.g., schools and kinder-gartens.

The most convenient way of door opening

Screwed to the frame, the HS-Master drive mechanism does not protrude into the door lintel.With its unobtrusive appearance thanks to the small installation height of 100 mm, the drive system does not interfere in any way with a room's interior design.

Motor-driven operation: lifting the sash, moving it to the desired opening width, and closing is as easy as anything

Lever handles

Lockable handles for inside or inside/outside operation can be mounted sub-

sequently at any time, as the lift-locking gears are prepared for actuation via profile cylinder as a standard.

Windows and doors constitute the weak spots in a building unless they are fitted with adequate security components. Insuffici-ently secured windows and doors make it easy for unwelcome visitors to intrude into the house. Half of all burglar attempts made on window and door elements with robust security fittings are abandoned within a few minutes. The police therefore recommend burglar inhibiting fittings as the most efficient safeguard against housebreakers.With the security components listed below it is possible to upgrade lift-slide elements in order to make them comply with today's security requirements:

The gears come with 15 mm backset for handle DIRIGENT [1], or as lockable gears with 25 to 50 mm backset and profi le cylinder bore. All locking parts are designed for a 16 mm fi tting groove. Individual security levels Parallel slide and tilt fittings for timber and PVC units come in three different security classes. Special security components ensure that the locking mechanism is burglary-resistant on all four sash sides.

G.U parallel slide and tilt fittings offer technically mature solutions for PVC, timber and aluminium windows and patio doors: G.U-966 (PVC, timber) and G.U-968 (for aluminium) for large units with 2 or 4 sashes; G.U-90 for small and lightweight window and patio door units both in residential and project construction.

Forced controlBoth fitting types have driven stay arms (forced control via turn handle) pressing the sash to the frame over its total width when closing, and pushing it off the frame evenly when opening. Ideal for large and heavy sashes.

G.U-966 (PVC, timber) When being closed, the sash automatically and gently engages in tilt position. It is then secure against being moved sidewards.

With their driven stay arms, the fitting types mZ provide utmost ease of operation as well as secure and reliable functioning of large and heavy patio door leaves.n The innovative design of the

runners distinguishes itself by the soft run in curve of the cam segment allowing the end of the sash to run smoothly. Moreover, the sliding sashes move easily and accurately to any position desired.

n With the ergonomically shaped aluminium handle every func-tion of the door is controlled: Releasing the central lock and setting off the sash; releasing from tilt position, sliding the sash open and closed; pulling the sash closed and locking it at the same time.

n The turn handles come with anti-lockout device, or as lockable handle with profile cylinder for operation from one or both sides.

Basic security = G.U standardCorner transmissions with mushroom shaped locking pins provide additional security for the protection of the lower section of the window or patio door with particular risks. Mushroom shaped locking pins hook behind the security locking plates and provide increased burglar protection.

Enhanced basic securityThe use of further security components and the corresponding security locking plates additionally increases the burglar protection. Parallel slide and tilt fittings for enhanced basic security are equipped with mushroom shaped locking pins on stay arms corner transmissions.

G.U-968 (aluminium) The fitting components are made of high-quality steel, zinc die cast and aluminium alloys; aluminium sash profiles with Euro groove 15/20 mm. The locking pins of the locking gear and of the corner transmission (with 4-leaf spring) are adjustable. The sliding sash automatically engages into tilt position and is then secure against being moved sidewards.

The locking system oZ has non driven stay arms which from a sash rebate width of 1200 mm are connected in a way that the whole sash is pressed towards the frame evenly across its full length. The robust design of the fittings allows for the faultless functioning of smaller and me- dium-sized window and patio door units with the best running quality.n The innovative design of the

runners distinguishes itself by the soft run in curve of the cam segment allowing the end of the sash to run smoothly. Moreover, the sliding sashes move easily and accurately to any position desired.

Convenient assembly with “Cleverle” The automatic locking pin cleverly adjusts itself to the rebate clearance (which in practice is not always ideal) thus saving settings on the sash.

Smooth engagement The sash is slid open to the position desired almost without effort – and it smoothly engages in end position while closing.

On slide-fold units with G.U-922 fittings (timber/PVC) or G.U-822 (aluminium), the running rail is mounted at the bottom. n The running rail takes up the

sash weight and transmits it to the floor safely. As a result, safe functioning is provided independently of the stability of the building construction at the top – e.g. eaves of conser-vatories.

n Folding sashes with a width up to 900 mm (timber/PVC) or 1000 mm (aluminium) and a weight up to 80 kg are manufactured from tilt-turn profiles.

n Provided with peripheral gaskets, the units offer high impermeability as well as optimum heat and sound insulation.

n Stylish appearance due to a flat guide rail and to runners concealed under a cover profile.

n Slide-fold units come as inward or outward opening versions, applications for 3 to 7 sash units are possible.

Open positionMoved to the side, the folding sashes demand only little parking space and open up the interior towards garden and terrace.

Passage door leaf in open positionAs side hung or tilt-turn sash, the passage door leaf is operated independently of the folding sashes.

Ventilation in secured tilt positionAs tilt-turn type, the passage door leaf on 3- to 7-sash units offers an additional possibility of aeration in secured tilt position. (See overview of schemes, page 11).

On slide-fold units with G.U-925 fittings (timber/PVC) or G.U-825 (aluminium), the running rail is mounted at the top.n Indoors, this type of fittings

can optionally be used with flush floor guide, i.e. without a threshold protruding, and is therefore especially suitable for the handicapped and for wheel chair users.

n Folding sashes with a width up to 900 mm (timber/PVC) or 1000 mm (aluminium) and a weight up to 80 kg are manufactured from tilt-turn profiles.

Elegance and smoothnessGuides with 2 rollers provide the smooth running of the folding sashes. A stylish appearance is achieved with the flat guide rail.The folding sashes are moved with utmost ease: The 4-wheel running carriage ensures convenient operation; the small depth of the running rail contributes to the stylish appearance of the unit. Top-running carriages are concealed behind the guide rail.

SettingsGuide rollers and runners can be adjusted to various sash over-lap dimensions; this is how the fittings are adapted to the particular profile systems.Hinges join the folding sashes with each other and with the frame.The position of the sashes towards each other can be adjusted on the hinges by +/-2,5 mm per hinge. The runners are adjustable by +4/-1,5 mm.

OperationThe single handed operation of G.U slide-fold units via turn handle is easy and comfortable.Lockable gears and handles for operation from both sides are available on request.

Matching design of windows and patio doorsSliding sashes up to 900 mm width (timber/PVC) or up to 1000 mm (aluminium) are manufactured with tilt-turn profiles. As a result, optimum adaptation of window and patio doors units is achieved providing a harmo-nious appearance.

Secure fixingGuide rails and running rails are fixed to the frame with screws. On PVC units, secure fastening is achieved by turning the screws into the steel reinforcement of the profile.When assembling bottom running systems, the running rail is supported over its total length with a batten to ensure safe carrying of the sash weight.
