A Letter From The Editor...

Im writing this in the sun, thats right, THE SUN, after months of hibernating and wearing ten layers it seems as though summer is finally here. Summer is my favourite season for fashion, embrace the gorgeous dresses, cute shorts and adorable little blouses girls, and its time to see all you guys in your shorts and tees. So lets put the jumpers and leggings away now!The Paradox office is super busy at the moment but full of summer cheer, and this is definitely reflected in this months issue! I just love our romantic picnic shoot (p.24) and the great pieces our fashion team have selected for our Bold and Bright feature (p.16) Weve also got our amazing regular columnists - this month Kris has found a life changing book that she prays will get her through her bad luck spell (p.9) Whilst Tom has fallen head over heels for UK based band Moose Blood (p.54) Weve also been having a great time in London at the moment, all in the name of research of course, to find you the best places to go this summer, weve even put together a gallery of photographs for you to admire, we hope it tempts you to drop all future plans and spend the weekend frollicking in London town! (p.36)I hope you fall in love with our favourite Instagrammers of the months as much as we have, cant get enough of these four talented guys and girls and their beautiful photos, make sure you check them out! Mars you'reso mean

For all of these panic attacks that dragged so many of you down with me I am sorry and I can promise it will never happen again!

How can I be so sure when Im only twenty one and panic has riddled me for years? I have, The Secret.

After a month riddled with these attacks prior to returning to Underground, the place that so kindly agreed to take me back and actually pay me like a grown-up despite being the clumsiest intern in the summer, they have finally ceased.

To cut a not-so-long book even shorter, basically The Secret is an oochy smoochy self help book that forces you to change your way of thinking. A little bit like Cognitive Therapy for Dummies that I tried circa panic 2012 (I actually did), however this one actually works!

One day, about 3 weeks ago now, whilst I was whinging once again over my mental dilemma whilst chowing down on scrambled eggs at Hallidays in Southampton, a good pal told me about said secret and within minutes I was in Waterstones bellowing the place down in search of the self help section (I cried in the park, this is less embarrassing I assure you). Then I found the book, bought the book - despite its disgusting cover - and left Southampton for Hemel already half way through by the time we reached the M25. Clearly all the reading wore me out.

So here is what I have learnt:

Or at least when youre up s**t creek without so much as bog roll, never mind a paddle, you just shouldnt dwell on it as much.

Take this weekend for example, I was dropped on the floor resulting in a blue, sprained wrist, I locked myself out of my room and had to pay a hefty 85 (not great considering all the parking tickets last week) and then the next morning I think I got caught whizzing through a red light on my way to the station, s***e.

HOWEVER! Because I am just in the midst of a bad luck spell (again to do with Mars being in retrograde), and because despite my dodgy wrists I am in good health, have the best group of fam and pals, and have been offered a graduate job (MY EYES ARE POPPING OUT OF MY HEAD IM SO ELATED) Im not going to dwell, because if you dwell you smell.

Totally coined that phrase by myself, reckon its gonna make me a billionaire.

So now as I sit here, dressed in school girl attire, (I was hungover and confused as to my age at 6.30am this morning) avoiding writing my dissertation, I am going to make a list of all the things I want to have achieved by this time next year because positive thinking brings positive things!

For those who I was a nightmare to, and youll know who you are, I thank you for putting up with me whilst I sobbed on the way to uni, uncontrollably yowled down the phone whilst trying to suffocate myself with a pillow and for when I refused point blank to get out of the car despite having demanded to be taken to the cinema.

Rainy Milo Little Fires Are Started On The Internet Rainy Milo is a star in the making, theres no doubt about that. With an incredible voice behind her as well as some of the most intriguing, jazz-inspired beats of recent memory, her Limey EP garnered plaudits from every corner of the blogosphere... We got on the phone to the London-based rapper to talk about how she feels about the reaction to her music and her rising fame...

How has life changed since the release of the EP and how did you feel about the overall reaction to it?I feel like its sort of the same, only now instead of writing for myself, Im writing songs and putting them out and I guess its just a bit more music orientated than it was before. I feel like the reaction was overwhelming really, even though it wasnt crazy huge like a chart-topper or anything.

Did you have a very musical childhood growing up? Were you parents musical people?My mum cant sing to save her life! But she loved playing music, and my granddad was a reggae DJ, so I really feel like I was surrounded by music of all genres.

What are your plans this year and what do you look forward to doing the most?Im really looking forward to live shows, and doing music videos! Thats always really fun, because you know, as an artist youre always just into the music, so when you get into something visual its so exciting to be doing something which isnt really your field.

What does it mean to be a good artist?Well, I think being a good artist means a lot to a lot of different people, but for me right now having people feel like oh my god!I really get this song! This really means something to me.

Have you felt that way about any artists recently?Thats a good question. Oh my God who do I treasure?! I wouldnt say its in the last few years but Id say I really treasure Corinne Bailey-Rae. I love her to pieces! I found her really honest honest in a really sincere way.

With so many acts being able to use the Internet to showcase their music, how do you think young artists can make themselves known amongst the hundreds of others out there?Thats really tough, because I know that I have to do a lot of sieving when Im trying to find something new to be into. I feel like at the end of the day, if somethings really good people are going to talk about it. Little Fires are started on the Internet a friend tells their friend, and then somebody blogs about it that people really respect.

Laura, 23, works for Google and Dan, 22, is a business student. They have been together for a year and a half and met whilst at University in Plymouth.

How we have changed since weve been together...Dan: I have a greater work ethic, I think thats due to me knowing Im not only working for myself any more. I am more confident and I am without a doubt happier.Laura: Dan became the student and I the employed , we now live in opposite ends of the country.

What we argue about...Laura: Usually the strain of being apart but on the whole we dont really argue much.Dan: Sometimes we argue about each others relationships with other people, but I think the main stem of the argument is we dont want the other one to get hurt or treated badly.

Vision for the future...Dan: I will move to where Laura now lives in London and we will begin to settle down together. We can then begin our exciting journey and spend the rest of our lives together.

How we met...Laura: I moved into Dans university house in 3rd year and we clicked straight away.

First impressions...Dan: I thought Laura was very pretty, seemed friendly and possibly a little nervous because she was moving in with complete strangers. Laura: I thought he had a funny accent! And I felt like I wanted to be around him all the time.

First Kiss...Laura: We were in my room and I kissed him first!Dan: She caught me off guard to be honest as she pounced on me.

First date...Dan: I met her after work on the Barbican in Plymouth and we had drinks then went home and had a Chinese.

What we love most about each other...Dan: She is one of the most considerate people Ive ever met. Shes ballsy - if she wants something she will get it through courage, determination and also intelligence. I love the way she looks and dresses, shes a great cook and she really takes an interest in my hobbies, even if she doesnt like them.Laura: I love his laugh, and he is very intelligent.

Megan Treharne, 22, a PA and Ben Whisson, 22, an editorial assistant, have been together for 18 months. They live in South London...

First Kiss...Ben: This took place before the first date! It was our graduation ball and Meg went in for the kill Im glad she did though because I probably wouldve bottled it. Megan: I cant actually remember mine and Bens first kiss! We were drunk and apparently I jumped on him. Classy.

What we love most about each other... Ben: Meg is my best friend. Thats the cheesiest answer but its true. She makes me laugh and we both want to do the same things even if thats going to bed at 8pm and watching a film.Megan: I love so many things about Ben, hes my best friend and I think he is so attractive, we have so many inside jokes and he is up for anything! I literally cant imagine life without him.

How we have changed since weve been together...Megan: I dont think as a person Ive changed much but my life definitely has! Ben: Meg is so confident that when she is with me I feel a hundred times more confident Ive never seen her embarrassed and I love that.

Visions For The Future...Megan: Hopefully we will go traveling and live abroad at some point! Ben: Theres not a single thing I imagine doing without Megan. I want to be successful and I want to travel to some amazing places, but I want to do it all with Meg. No marriage though and no children - thats the agreement at the moment anyway.

How we met... Megan: We were in the same class at University together for 3 years but didnt get together until the last few weeks of the course. I didnt notice him until he got up and did a presentation one day and thought he was so handsome!

First Impressions...Megan: I thought he was shy, but very funny and charming and really easy to be around. Ben: That I had no chance I thought she was very good looking and pretty loud.

First Date... Megan: He took me to a really nice restaurant, I was so impressed as the dates Id been on before at Uni usually just meant going to the pub - he really won me over by how much effort he put in.Ben: We had a lot of fun and I thought she was so funny and very attractive.

What we argue about...Megan: I cause most of our arguments, mainly I just get in a bad mood and take it out on him! Ben: How long it takes to put my shoes on.

Maya, 22, is a Fashion photography student and Pedram, 23, is sTUDYING fINANCE AND ACCOUNTING. They have been together FOR NEARLY THREE YEARS and met IN THEIR HOMETOWN OF bRISTOL.

How we met...Maya: We first met on my birthday night out as we have a few mutual friends but we properly met a few months later at a house party where we got along really well. I pretty much ignored everyone else at the party as we both stayed up talking and getting to know each other all night!

First impressions...Pedram: How you doin?Maya: Wow Handsome!

First date...Pedram: Our first date wasnt a textbook date. We went to Nandos and right from the start I felt so comfortable with her that I finished her food.

First kiss...Maya: Our first kiss was at the party wed met at, after talking for hours on end, I started getting sleepy and Pedram refused to go to sleep or stop talking until I kissed him so I gave in!Pedram: It wasnt the most romantic kiss but I was the one that went for it, I dont regret it because it started everything that we have now.

What we love most about each other...Maya: It sounds super cheesy but were so unbelievably compatible with pretty much everything. We have similar aspirations and want the same things in life and most importantly were just always open and ourselves with each other no matter how strange or weird the mood may be.Pedram: The fact that we can be ourselves and do/say whatever without worrying that the other one is going to be put off.

What we argue about...Pedram: Our arguments last about half an hour at most because theyre usually minor things like me not paying as much attention to her as she would like. Its really rare for us to argue though.Maya: Itll be about something silly and domestic like cooking (as Pedrams quite controlling in the kitchen!) or me wanting to spend a bit more time with him!

How we have changed since weve been together...Maya: I think Ive definitely matured...The two of us think further down the line and plan ahead which we would never have done in our previous relationships.Pedram: I would like to think that Ive become more mature and focused in life since being with Maya. The good thing is that we have changed in a way thats driven us closer rather than apart.

Vision for the future...Pedram: It would be pointless not be in a relationship of over 2 years and not consider the long run. So if things work out the way they should, then putting the ring on her finger is the plan.Maya: Im also massively keen on having fun with him and would like to go travelling and take some time out to enjoy ourselves before things get busy with careers!

He refused to go to sleep until I kissed him - so i gave in!

One of the greatest artists of the twentieth century; Roy Lichtenstein is famed for his iconic comic strips and advertising imagery. His use of signature hand painted Benday dots reinvented the concept of time and motion into a still life picture. Once labelled as the worst artist in America by the influential Life magazine, Lichtenstein changed the way art was viewed by his humorous take on celebrity culture through intended clichs and dead metaphors. The Tate is featuring one of the biggest exhibitions of his work, spread throughout 13 rooms, which feature 125 paintings and sculptures, including previously unseen material. Works on show include Whaam! and the famous Drowning Girl image from the Sixties. The exhibition strives to demonstrate the bold approach Lichtenstein took by rejecting expressionism and instead creating his own art movement. The New Yorker forever changed the face of art through his unmistakable style and this exhibition really showcases his power and talent.

The V&ADavid Bowie Is

Hailed as one of Londons biggest cultural events for 2013, David Bowie Is explains who the musician and cultural icon is through his numerous image reinventions. Pops greatest chameleon is explored via the 300 objects on show throughout the exhibition including handwritten lyrics, fashion, album designs, photography and films. Never before seen diary entries help you to understand Bowies creative mind-set and how his ideas became fully developed.The highlights are without a doubt the Ziggy Stardust bodysuits and the set design for his Diamond Dogs tour in 1974. This exhibition is the first international retrospect at Bowie and has seen the highest ever figure for advanced bookings at the V&A with an astonishing 26,000 tickets sold. The exhibition coincides with Bowies first album release for ten years, signalling that his decade long silence is over.

How I got My dream job

Sarah Allen, 22, is a Theatrical Marketing Executive for Studio Canal and will be working on upcoming films such as 'A Place Beyond the Pines', 'Evil Dead' and 'Rush'.

When I was at school I decided I wanted to work in the media... and chose to study Media Studies at Brighton University. During my three years there I did various work placements in magazines, TV and radio and after graduating I was lucky enough to get a three month work placement at Paramount Pictures. It was here I realised I never wanted to leave the world of film marketing.

A contact on LinkedIn told me about a marketing assistant role going at Universal Pictures International Entertainment... I went for it and got the job! After ten months there I heard about a vacancy at Metrodome, and after three rounds of interviews I was offered the position. After nine months there I was headhunted by Studio Canal and offered my dream job.

In film, you need to be passionate, organised and ambitious... Everyone fighting for the same jobs. As i have found out over the past two years, networking is essential; its not always what you know, but who you know, and so the downsides to this industry is that it is ruthless, and you could be out at any point. In marketing, if you make a bad campaign and no one goes to see your film, everyone in film knows about it.

My aim is to work my way up to marketing manager... then senior marketing manager and finally Head of Marketing at Studio Canal. I see big potential in the company and I want to help be a part of the process as it continues to grow. My dream is that in 10-15 years time Ill be head of marketing at one of the major studios in LA!

If you want to get into this industry you need to know your films and campaigns... Network like crazy, add people on LinkedIn and do free work experience placements. Ive turned down paid jobs for months of unpaid work in the industry I love because I am so passionate about film. Be persistent and never give up. It is possible, you just have to work damn hard for it, but in the end it makes it all worthwhile.

The perks are unlimited... I have been fortunate enough to go to exclusive premieres, meet stars and directors and been taken to swanky places by agencies who try to buy their way on to your books. The perks are fantastic and I love what I do. The hours can be long and you can run into evenings and even weekends, but if you are passionate about your film campaign then thats what it takes.

Step back in Time...We all know the story of how innocent young Pip is promised a life of grandeur and richness in London by a mystery benefactor which goes horribly wrong. What sets Mike Newells version apart from countless other Dickens adaptations is the focus placed upon estranged lovers Pip and Estella. As with any adaptation small elements of the original text have been ignored but it must be remembered that it is no mean feat to squeeze Dickens spiralling novel into a two hour film.

Bastille has been the name on everyones lips in the lead up to their anticipated debut album. They have been compared to Friendly Fires, Bombay Bicycle Club and even Coldplay but the boys from South London are definitely in a league of their own with Bad Blood. Some critics wondered if they would match the success of their former EPs and mix tapes, but with an album that boasts sing along festival anthem such as Pompeii and Icarus they have excelled themselves far beyond anyone considered possible. From the haunting ballad of Overjoyed to the catchy The Things we Lost in the Fire, there is something to keep even the most sceptical of music fans happy. Available from 9th July.

An American Classic...Adapted by Lee Daniels from Pete Dexters 1995 novel, The Paperboy is achingly fearless and funny. Nicole Kidman is transformed into the dysfunctional Charlotte Bless who unfortunately for Ward Jansen is the only ticket to his journalistic glory of revealing a wrongly convicted criminal. Praise must go to Zac Effron who has finally cast off his Disney days and is wonderful as Wards younger brother who develops an obsession with Charlotte. The Paperboy is an apologetic mix of lust, sex and obscenity.In cinemas from July 3rd.

After knocking me for six with their debut EP Moving Home, I was sure Moose Blood had instantly exhausted all of their abilities as musicians across six tracks. If they had done, then itd have gone down as the EP equivalent of Your Favorite Weapon; the Moose Blood name firmly established as one of the most promising pop punk bands to emerge from the UK, let alone Canterbury. With a song as infectiously catchy as Bukowski (which I reckon will still remain the best pop punk song of the year when December rolls around, mark my words) the bar has never been set higher for a follow-up. And now we have it.

Orlando opens with an acoustic intro thats uncanny to the one in Carbis Bay before bursting into life with whats quickly becoming a signature Moose Blood sound in the combination of extremely hooky riffs and lyrics that leave you longing for more.

Sure, its another cult pop culture reference - but who cares? Those who will appreciate these new tracks the most will have found themselves in that boat at least once in their lives, myself included. Moose Blood are the long lost band your friends formed at school that never materialised no matter how many after class jam sessions were spent in the music room listening to Brand New and Jimmy Eat World, and I love them for it.

On the 21st April, the band will release a special 8 single Boston b/w Orlando via Fist In The Air Records and Venn Records (the latter being home to none other than Gallows). The verdict? These two new tracks are both corkers. Theyre less loved-up than most of Moving Home and are certainly less immediate (youll need to spin them a couple of times before they really sink in) but melodically they hit you hard like a great Latterman song, especially in the final moments of Boston when they burst into a beautiful breakdown backed by wailing gang vocals of soppy seduction:

Move on over babyYoure not close enough for me though and we both know its true I want your hands all over my stomach, your lips all over my chest and neck.
