Paper Weaving Designs Created and Presented by Ms. Steinmetz Non-Objective: Abstract representation; Influenced by feelings rather than a concrete fact/idea Objective: Not influenced by feelings or opinions; Represents a concrete fact/idea Project Objective Creatively design two contrasting compositions using two different media, in acrylic paint or oil pastels, utilizing basic color theory knowledge. Combine both compositions together using a basic weaving technique to create a new work of art. Color Theory Tips Warm Colors Cool Colors Complementary Colors- Next to VS. Sgraffito- A method of decorating or designing a surface, such as oil pastel, by scratching through a layer of one color to expose a different color underneath. Weaving The process of forming cloth or fabric on a loom by interlacing yarn or thread (or, as in this case, paper). The loom is the frame around that holds the warp in place. The web is the actual weaving produced. Navajo Design Strong geometric patterns, earth colors (indigo, reds, browns, green, etc.)
