    Wimbledon Plans

The Lawn Tennis Championships at Wimbledon have developed from the garden partyatmosphere to a highly professional tournament attracting approximately 500,000

people. Players from over 60 countries regularly compete in front of a crowd of millions

worldwide, through the press, radio, Internet and television.

The successful London Olympic bid for the 2012 Games means that in 2012 the

Olympic tennis tournament will be held at Wimbledon.

The All England Lawn Tennis Club is developing its jewel in the crown the Centre

    Court.

The Centre Court of the future

Centre Court will gain a new, modern retractable roof, which will enable all weather

play during The Championships. This is designed to complement the original 1920s

    stadium.

The Centre Courts capacity will be increased from 13,800 spectators to 15,000 by the

addition of six rows of seating to the upper tier on three (east, north and west) sides.

There will be more catering outlets offering a wider choice of food both indoors and

outdoors. During the non-Championships period, visitors will be able to use the new

Caf Centre Court with its access to the Centre Court viewing gallery.
