  • 2 Panotour Pro 1.5 - Prerequisites

    2.1 FLASH CONFIGURATION2.1.1 Flash Player / Compatibility

Panotour allows users to create virtual tours in Flash format. In order to read the tours generated, your computer needs the Flash player.Normally, it is already installed on your computer. If this is not the case or if you want to download the latest version for free, you can get it at this page: Download the Flashreader.

Version 9 (minimum) of the Flash reader is needed for viewing the virtual tours. We still recommended that you use version 10 (onwards). The management of 3D elements has greatly improved between the 2 versions, distortion effects may appear (slightly wavy straight lines) if version 9 is used.

2.1.2 Display locally (from your computer)The Flash items (file .swf) are primarily intended for use on the internet, you need to configure the secured files to execute them locally, or from your computer and not fromthe internet.Indeed, some elements can be loaded only if you set one (or several) trusted folder, ie, allow to the folder(s) where you export your tours to load content items to completelyvisualize the tour, to open URL links, play sound and videos... etc.The secured files can be configured from the web interface Global security settings panel.

Set one or several trusted folders

Select Toujours autoriser. Then click on Modifier... on the drop-down list and select Ajouter... then Rechercherun dossier. A file browser window will appear.

In the browser, select the folder to which you grant trust to the flash player (the folderwhere you export your tours).

The selected folder is then added to the list of the interface in the white box (you canrenew the process if you want to set other trusted folders).

2.2 TERMS OF USE ABOUT EXPORT FOR MOBILE DEVICESPanotour Pro can export virtual tours compatible with mobile devices (iPhone/Ipad and some Android devices). However, this feature is limited to certain terms of use:

This feature is only available to registered users. The project must only contain spherical panoramas (360x180 angular fields). Some elements are not compatible with the mobile version (no sound, no video, no hotspot points). The mini-planet feature is usable. However, viewing on mobile devices will be different (reduced field of vision).

By selecting this option, certain parameters of the visit will be modified and compatibility is not ensured if you if you change them after the fact:Some information can not be incorporated in the flash file. Device-specific (iPhone, iPad, etc.) lower resolutions will be generated when displayed on a mobile device. The non-compatible hotspots (polygons and rectangles) will be replaced by default hotspot points.

Note: These limitations are also documented on the Krpano website.

  • 3 Panotour Pro 1.5 - Interface

3.1 PRESENTATION OF THE INTERFACEThe Panotour Pro interface is divided into 5 areas by default:

The Toolbar groups all of the Panotour essential functions. The Main window lets you quickly visualize the entire project and select the various elements to edit. The hotspot Editor lets you edit the graphics of the selected panorama. It also lets you add and change the hotspots. The 3D Editor authorizes the setting of 3D navigation parameters in the final rendering. The Tour properties, divided in 3 tabs, allow for the manual changing of selected properties or elements.

2 other windows are optional, the Quick export window and the History window. You can see them from the Display menu, which is explained later on this page.

3.2 CUSTOMIZING THE INTERFACEYou can organize the workspace as you wish.

To do this, you have to click on the title bar of a window and drag it out of its original location:

If you release your window while a gray box appears in the interface, the window that you have selected will be lodged in place of the grey area. A window fixed tothe main interface is called docked.

If on the contrary, no gray area appears when you release your window, it will be rendered floating, which means that it will no longer be geographically connectedto the rest of the interface. To render a window floating, click on the icon on the title bar of each window.

You can also choose which windows will be visible / invisible in the View menu.

Checked windows are visible; the unchecked windows are not visible. Thus, checking or unchecking a window will either make it visible or invisible in the interface. By default, the following windows are visible in the interface:

Note that the customization of the interface does not affect the proper functioning of tools.

  • 15 Panotour Pro 1.5 - Project Properties - Tour BuildThe export parameters lets you set the way the visit will be generated and to also restrict its use to certain areas.

    Pictures export

Always: Force the calculation of the images at each export. Automatic: (default) Calculates the images automatically. At the first export, the"always" function is used. Following the changes, Pantour may not calculate theimages.

Never: Forces Panotour to never calculate the images.

Embed all dataLets you choose if the flash file includes different tour elements (graphic elements, images, etc.) ornot. However, videos and sounds can never be included.Use the button for more details on how to use this option.

If the option is checked: all the data is embedded in the exported flash file. The flash file is exported as name_of_project.swf. The weight of the flash file is consequential to the elements included. When viewing, all of the elements must be uploaded before you can browsethe tour (the upload is quite slow).

If the option is unchecked: all of the data is dissociated from the exported flash file. The export is composed of a name_of_project.swf flash file and aname_of_projectdata data file.

These two elements are closely related and should not be separated. When viewing, the flash file will upload the elements it needs for the tourfrom the data file; the tour will upload quickly.

Embed XML filesBy default the "Embed the xml files" option is checked, the XML files will be included in the flashfile, and are thus invisible.By unchecking this option, the xml files can be exported separately so that they can be edited. For more information on editing xml file, see the Panotour forum or the krpano forum.

Use existing XML filesLets you incorporate the xml files in the .swf files and thus protect them.Warning: The project should not be changed between the last export of XML files and the use ofthis option.

Mobile devices compatibilityThis option is subject to certain terms of use. If the box is grayed out, the project created must bemodified to meet those requirements.

By checking this option, you can make the tour compatible with Apple mobile devices(iPhone/iPod/iPad).

When exporting, a krpanoIphone.js file is included to the tour's elements. Use the button for more information on how to use this option.

HTML TemplateThis lets you export a HTML file including the virtual tour. You can create your own template and integrate it into the software. For more information see theTemplate page.

Restricted domainsThis lets you define a list of domains on which your tour can be consulted. It will not work outside ofthis context, except locally (on your workstation). It is mandatory to specify a domain allowed to use the KrPano javascript interface.

  • 18 Panotour Pro 1.5 - Panorama Properties - ProjectionInput field of viewSpecifies the selected panorama's angular view and to change it if needed. The 3D lets you seethe changes to these values.

Horizontal: Sets the horizontal angular surface surrounded by the panorama. This valuecan be changed.

Vertical: Sets the vertical angular surface surrounded by the panorama. This value canbe changed.

Vertical offset: Sets the panorama's horizon. Shifts the panorama up or down thesphere based on the respective positive and negative values.

An Autopano panorama (Pro or Giga) contains EXIF data in its assembly. This data sets the angular fields and is reinterpreted by Panotour Pro.So, the angular fields are kept (they are identical to those of the original panorama).

When a panorama does not contain EXIF data, the angular fields are calculated based on one of 2values (horizontal or vertical, depending on the image's ratio). This calculation is applied to the following cases:

If the panorama uses an assembly software that is different from Autopano. If the panorama has been changed between when it was created with Autopano andimported into Panotour.

If the panorama was exported with Autopano in a format that does not issue EXIF data(i.e. .png).

In these cases, a [!] icon (beside the horizontal and vertical fields) indicates that no EXIF data wasfound. The panorama viewed in the center window also has a icon showing the same information. This quickly lets us know what angular fields need to be verified and/or changed.Changes to these fields will erase the indication icons.

Output projectionThis lets us choose the type of projection used to display the panorama in the tour.

Display a spherical projection: (default) The panorama is shown in a sphere. Thiscreates the feeling of 3D immersion.

Display a planar projection: The panorama is projected onto a plan. This type ofprojection is particularly suitable for panoramas with small fields of view.

  • 28 Panotour Pro 1.5 - Templates

Panotour uses templates of XML or HTML files to generate virtual tours.

The templates let you edit many features that are not (yet) graphically editable in Panotour Pro.Most templates are directly inspired by XML scripts interpreted by KrPano, of which accessibility can be difficult for some users.

A list of default templates are defined in the template file. Several Pantour features use this list.It may be wise to develop your own templates. A large number of tours need a set of common parameters when being created.

The templates can be accessed under the Edit/Open templatesdirectory/... menu

The folder structure is as follows:

28.1 HTML TEMPLATESThe HTML templates are found under the html/ file.

A HTML template is a HTML page and a file of associated resources that have the same name.By default, all templates have a proposed default css style sheet. You can write your own style sheet and place it in the resource file of the template in question.

The HTML template pages could include key words that will be replaced when exported. These key words are:

$(PROJECTNAME): the project name. $(SWF): the name of the swf file generated. $(FIRST_PANO_XML): the xml file of the first panorama of the tour.

28.2 CONTROL TEMPLATESThe control templates are found under the menu/ file.

A control template is a XML file (format krpano). This code defines where control elements are to be placed. The krpano code of these files will be copied into the exported tour, with the exception of the tag.The tag contains a description of the template in different languages. This is the text that will appear in Panotour whcn a template is chosen.

The $(STYLEDIR) key word will be replaced with the file containing the graphic resources specified in the theme template. The $(HELPSCREEN) key word will be replaced by a help image file specified in the theme template.

28.3 PROGRESS BAR TEMPLATESThe progress bar templates are found in the progress/ file.

A progress bar template is a xml file (format krpano). The krpano code of these files will be copied in the exported tour, with the exception of the tag.The tag contains a description of the template in different languages. This is the text that will appear in Panotour when a template is chosen.

28.4 FONT TEMPLATEThe font templates are found in the textstyle/ file.

A font template is a xml file (format krpano) defining the appearance of text in the tour. The krpano code of these files will be copied in the exported tour, with the exception of the tag.

    38

  • The tag contains a description of the template in different languages. This is the text that will appear in Panotour whcn a template is chosen.

28.5 THEME TEMPLATESThe theme templates are found in the themes/ file.

A theme template is an xml file (Panotour format) defining the appearance of the tour. Each theme created makes reference to the graphic resources in a graphics/ file relative to themes/.The existing resources (default) are placed in graphics/name_of_theme/ for better organization.

The structure of a theme template is as follows:

    28.5.1 PTTheme

name: a name for the theme - not used directory: the file where the graphic resources are located. This will replace $(STYLEDIR) in the control template. customColor: true or false. Authorizes (or not) the use of a theme to change the theme color (used to color the graphic resources). defaultcolor: a web format color #RRGGBB. The default color used by the theme.

    28.5.2 translation

A description text of the theme in a different languages. Each node is a description in a language.

lang: the language code. text: the description text of the theme that will appear in Pantour's drop down menu choices. tip: A longer description text that will appear when the mouse hovers on the theme name in Panotour.

    28.5.3 menu

Detail of a control template that is compatible with this theme. You can define a list of help images () for a control template.

file: the file of a control template. preview: An image represents the rendered control theme in the tour. colorize: the list of the control template plug-ins that can be colored. This list uses the ; character as a separator. The all key word lets you authorize the coloringof all the control template plug-ins.

    28.5.4 helpscreen

For a control template to have an information button showing a help image, this node specifies the help image in question.

Name: the name of the font. Size: the size of the font. Bold: true or false depending on whether the font should be displayed in bold. Italic: true or false depending on whether the font should be displayed in italics. Template: a template used by this font. See Font templates.

    28.5.6 hotspottype

file: the graphic resource to be used. If it is a sequence of images, replace the image index with %d. The image indexes start with 1 and go in order. default: this field is optional, it should contain "pano" if this image is the default image of a hotspot point belonging to a panorama or "map" if this is the defaultimage of a hotspot belonging to a map.

nbfile (optional): the number of images used for this hotspot. refreshPeriod (optional): the time interval between two states of animation. translation file node: the text displayed in Panotour according to the selected language.

It is possible to define sequences of images to animate a hotspot. To do this, the images representing the different steps of the animation must be in the same file and havethe same name, except for the step number (image index) that will be %d in the file field.

    Example: 6 images (called image1.png, image2.png, image3.png, etc.) in $(STYLEDIR)/myTheme/spotAnim/, animated for a duration of 1 second (1 sec/6 images = 0.166):

The node will be noted as follows:

28.6 TRANSITION TEMPLATESThe transition templates are found in the transition/ file.

A transition template is a xml file (krpano format) defining the animation of a transition between two panoramas in the tour. The krpano code of these files will be copied in the exported tour, except for the tag.The tag contains a description of a template in different languages. This is the text that will appear in Panotour when choosing a template.

To code a transition, it is necessary to refer to some data published in the Panotour interface:

The $(PANO) tag will be replaced with the pano destination XML file. The hcenter and vcenter variables representing the centre of the hotspot to which the transition is associated. The hview, vview and fovview variable represent the view associated to the hotspot. The panoview.h, panoview.v and panoview.fov variables representing the view associated to the panorama.
