DESIGN CRITERIA
BUILDING CODE: 2009 EDITION OF THE INTERNATIONAL RESIDENTIAL CODE (IRC) WITH ASCE7-05 DESIGN PROCEDURES
AND APPLICABLE LOCAL AMENDMENTS. ALL MATERIALS AND WORKMANSHIP SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE
APPLICABLE REQUIREMENTS THEREIN. THESE CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS WERE PREPARED BY RIVET ENGINEERING

FOUNDATION DESIGN PARAMETERS

RECOMMENDATIONS FROM THE GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER SHALL BE PROVIDED TO STRUCTURAL ENGINEER PRIOR TO
PLACING CONCRETE OR BACKFILL.

CONCRETE REQUIREMENTS
A. CONCRETE DESIGN IS BASED ON THE "BUILDING CODE REQUIREMENTS FOR STRUCTURAL CONCRETE" (ACI 318) AS
ADOPTED BY CHAPTER 19 OF THE IBC.
B. CONCRETE INDICATED ON THESE DRAWINGS SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED AS FOLLOWS WITH NORMAL-WEIGHT
(NOT LIGHT-WEIGHT) AGGREGATE AS FOLLOWS:
C. CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT CONCRETE MIX DESIGNS PREPARED BY BATCH PLANT ENGINEER FOR REVIEW PRIOR TO
CONSTRUCTION.
D. ADMIXTURES CONTAINING CHLORIDE SALTS ARE UNACCEPTABLE. NO FLY ASH ADDITIVES MAY BE USED IN
FLATWORK OR ARCHITECTURALLY EXPOSED CONCRETE. FLY ASH SHALL BE LIMITED TO 10% OF CEMENTITIOUS
MATERIALS AND SHALL HAVE A REPLACEMENT FACTOR OF 1.2 RELATIVE TO CEMENT.
E. CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT BATCH PLANT TICKETS DOCUMENTING THEIR DELIVERIES TO JOB-SITE WITHIN 14 DAYS
OF PLACING CONCRETE.
F. COLD WEATHER / HOT WEATHER CONCRETING PROCEDURES SHALL BE IMPLEMENTED BY CONTRACTOR AS NEEDED
PER THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE ACI "MANUAL OF CONCRETE PRACTICE."
