UPGRADE NOTES

V2.21 ePro Software Suite – Upgrade Notes

Installation Upgrading previous versions Previously installed versions of ePro Canvas/ePro Canvas Professional must be uninstalled using the Add/Remove Programs utility available from the Control Panel. This step MUST take place prior to installing the new V2.21 software. If the old software is not removed and the Repair option is selected when installing the V2.21 software then the ePro Canvas software will not work correctly.

ES/PS Runtime Redraw time and draw order Changes have been made to the display drawing process resulting in faster redraws and changes in the order that Controls and Components are drawn. Invisible Controls (Visibility off) are no longer briefly displayed when requesting a page for the first time (REF # S1618, S1620).

Operator Input Indicator location The Operator Input Indicator (image) that is displayed with a Control that includes operator input is no longer automatically repositioned. The position selected in the Page Editor will be used for display during Runtime (REF # S1574).

Multi-language test display When Media Library Text values are null (no data), a blank field will be immediately displayed when the associated language becomes active. Previous versions required a page change before the blank values were displayed (REF # S1599).

Recipe Busy Indicator The Recipe Busy Indicator display has changed so that it is only visible during the parameter reading process instead of the reading/writing process. While the ePro PS is writing values, operator input will be accepted (REF # S1629).

Project Explorer PowerPro Configuration Import additional alarm details Additional details have been added for alarms that are not imported during the PowerPro Configuration Import process. Information about alarms that are not imported can be accessed using the Import Warning property and Message Pane (View>Message). This information can also be accessed in a text file named ImportInfo.txt located in the PPS Imported file directory under the Canvas installation directory under Images. Alarm details include: Indicator Name, Label, Tag/Expression, Symbol Name, Tag/Expression, Readout and Bar Name, Hi/Lo Indication, Expression (REF # S1586).

Page Editor Menu Device Attributes In V2.20 it was possible to assign attributes to the Menu Device Control Rectangle, Image and Text fields. The Attribute tab has been removed preventing detailed changes to be made to these properties. Changes can still be made using the Menu Device Attributes tab (REF # S1594).

V2.20 ePro Software Suite – Upgrade Notes

Project Explorer Client Tab for “Items” has been removed In V2.10 and prior, the Client property tab names included an Items tab. This tab has been removed. The Client general-tab properties for Import From Server has been enhanced to show the number of tags/items imported from the server after an import and the field for Remove Imported Tags is grayed out if tags haven’t been imported. Imported tags may be viewed from the Expression Editor or from the drop down list in the property editor (REF # S1433).

Action Properties have been re-ordered Trigger references within Action dialog boxes have been moved below other references within the Action property dialogs. The following Actions have been modified – Data Archive, Email, Goto Page, Recipe Management, Sound, Start Application (REF # S1530).

Cancel On Entry has been changed In V2.10, a “Cancel on Entry” (Yes/No) property was added to Numeric Entry controls which allowed the developer to choose whether or not the entry window will disappear after entry is complete. As this functionality was added to Button Controls in V2.20, the property was moved to the General tab, and both properties were consolidated into a single property. The result is that all upgraded configurations will have the resulting “Cancel On Entry” value set to the default value of No. If the configuration was set to Cancel On Entry, each control will have to be reassigned individually.

Touch Area Control If a Touch Area Control is used in a V2.10 page, it must be deleted and recreated to function properly in V2.20 (REF # S1473).

Arc drawing has been modified If an arc was used prior to V2.20, it will not be drawn correctly in V2.20 runtime. All configurations prior to V2.20 which contain arcs, must have the page opened and resaved in the V2.20 editor for the arc to draw properly during runtime in V2.20 (REF # S1491).

V2.10 ePro Software Suite – Upgrade Notes

Project Explorer System Client Tag Name Change The System Client Tag Library entry named CurrentPageNumber has been changed to CurrentPageId to be consistent with its functionality

If you are using a Rectangular Button Control with a Type Property set to Page Change then you will need to change the Type Property to Trigger Action and then manually edit the Break Action replacing CurrentPageNumber with CurrentPageId. The Type Property can stay at Trigger Action or be changed back to Page Change.

If you are using an Assignment Action that uses CurrentPageNumber then it will need to be modified also.

You must also open the Tag Library associated with the System Client (default name is TagSystem) and change the CurrentPageNumber entry name and definition to CurrentPageId.

PanelMate ePro PS Runtime OPC Server Installation The V2.10 ePro Software Suite includes an upgraded version of OPC KEPServer_ePro (V4.160.317). This version includes new PROFIBUS and DeviceNet Slave drivers for Hilscher cards.

If you are using a Hilscher card for PROFIBUS Slave or DeviceNet Slave communications then you will also need to install KEPServer_ePro on your target PS units. Note that you must perform the KEPServer_ePro installation (select Modify option) directly on each ePro PS unit rather than by performing a Send to Unit from the ePro Canvas Professional software. No update is required if you are using other OPC drivers.

V2.00 ePro Software Suite – Upgrade Notes

Changes to Controls Data Entry Property Removed on Primitive Controls The Data Entry property has been removed on the Ellipse, LED, Line, Plate, Polygon, Rectangle, Scale and Text Controls. If a pre-V2.00 application includes these Controls and the Data Entry property was selected then the Data Entry feature will no longer function using the V2.00 Runtime. A different Control will need to be selected that supports Data Entry. If necessary, a Touch Area Control can be placed on top of the primitive Control.

Operator Input Indicator Location The location of the Operator Input Indicator has been changed to being outside the Control “box” to prevent information from being covered by the indicator image. In pre-V2.00 loads the indicator was located inside the Control “box”. The indicator will not be moved in applications that have already been saved but all new Controls and all edits of existing Controls with this property selected will place the indicator on the outside of the “box”. Take note that if the Control is placed adjacent to the edge of the display area then the indicator may not be visible.

V1.30 ePro Software Suite – Upgrade Notes

Project Explorer ActionEventBanner Actions When reading in a project or .ucf file created in earlier ePro Canvas versions, the ActionEventBanner Action View State property will be set to the Closed state. This is the result of new View State properties being made available. Open the ActionEventBanner properties and then select the View State property desired.

Conditional Log Event Actions When reading in a project or .ucf file created in earlier ePro Canvas versions and Log Event Actions are used with a Trigger Type of Conditional then the Condition Type property needs to be reselected and all Event properties deleted and reentered.

October 2005 Page 10 of 36 EH04803009E

Media Library Default Values When reading in a project or .ucf file created in earlier ePro Canvas versions and Media Libraries are used then default values need to be added to your Media Library to support the new Event Banner and Document Viewer features. The easiest way to do this is to open your project in the ePro Canvas Editor and then open up another window (instance) of the ePro Canvas Editor to gain access to the new default Media Library named MediaSystem. Select the default Media Library named MediaSystem in the Project Components Pane (under Media Libraries). In the Component Data Pane select all rows with the exception of the rows in the System Category (select the top row and then use <SHIFT><Left Mouse Click> on the last row to select all rows in between). Next Copy the information to your clipboard and then select your Media Library in the other ePro Canvas window and Paste the information from the clipboard into your library.

Note that if you do not intend to use the Event Banner and/or Document Viewer features then it is recommended that the Media Library Tag references in the Configuration Event Banner and Document Viewer properties be replaced with string references (replace ‘ with “).

Log Event Action Description Property When reading in a project or .ucf file created in earlier ePro Canvas versions and Log Event Actions are used and Events are defined then the Descriptions properties will need to be modified to follow the tag syntax rules (double quotes for hard coded values, single quotes for library tag values). This change is required because the Description has been enhanced to support values from libraries.

FIXED

V2.21 ePro Software Suite - Fixed

PanelMate ePro ES/PS Runtime (Online) Similar Tag Names and Expressions Issue: When an expression contains multiple tag names and the first referenced tag name is included as the first characters of another tag name then the expression will not evaluate properly during Runtime (ex. Tag #1 is Pump1 and Tag #2 is Pump12) (REF # S1617). Fixed: Expressions with tags evaluate correctly during Runtime in this version.

Overlapping Button Controls with Visibility Expressions Issue: When Button Controls are overlapped and Visibility Expressions are used, the buttons that are visible will not function if invisible buttons are on top (i.e. invisible buttons on top of visible buttons prevent the visible buttons from functioning) (REF # S1588). Fixed: Overlapped Button Controls with Visibility Expressions work properly in this version.

ES Runtime upgrade from V2.10 to V2.20 will not install properly Issue: V2.10 users can not upgrade their ePro ES Runtime files to V2.20 using the Send to File feature. Note that pre-V2.10 users will not experience this issue (REF # S1545). Fixed: V2.21 ES Runtime files will download correctly to the ePro ES unit.

October 2005 Page 11 of 36 EH04803009E

Button Control colors from Color Libraries Issue: If an Operator Input Button has a Text and/or Button Color property assigned from a Color Library, the colors are displayed correctly in the Page Editor but are incorrect at Runtime (REF # S1582). Fixed: Operator Input Buttons display colors correctly during Runtime in this version.

Button Controls and Break Action triggers Issue: If a Button, Button Bar, Rectangular Button or Touch Area Control has a Break Action assigned and the operator selects (presses) the touch area and then slides their finger into another application window (such as Document Viewer), the Break Action will not occur if the finger is removed while in the new area. As a result, if the Make and Break Actions are designed to act as a momentary pushbutton then the bit value may not be cleared correctly (REF # S1565). Fixed: Break Actions for a Button will be performed immediately if and when the user’s finger moves into a new application window in this version.

Concatenating Media Library entries for Text and Event Log Issue: When a Text property field includes concatenated Media Library entries (using the "+" operator), the text is displayed correctly during Runtime but the incorrect error "Invalid add operand type" is logged in the Event Banner (REF # S1572). Fixed: Concatenated Media Library entries do not result in erroneous logged events in this version.

Concatenating Media Library entries for Indicator Control States and Button Bar Labels Issue: Using concatenated Media Library entries for Indicator Control State Media properties or Button Bar Label properties may cause undesirable Runtime operation (REF # S1597). Fixed: Concatenated Media Library entries work correctly in this version.

Indicator Controls States with various sized fonts Issue: If an Indicator Control has varying sized text for the State properties the display will appear correct in the Page Editor but may be wrong during Runtime (Ref # S1546). Fixed: Varying sized text can be used in Indicator Controls in this version.

Project Explorer Send to File Issue: When performing a Send to File and sending data to an ePro PS over an Ethernet connection (FTP Transfer) the transfer may fail and the undocumented error “FTP: Restart Command Failed dwErrorCode = 0” may be displayed (REF # S1638). Fixed: Send to File FTP Transfers work correctly in this version. A complete list of Send to File FTP Transfer error codes is listed in the Help file in this version.

Event Banner Acknowledge Filter Switches Issue: The Event Banner Filter Inactive Operational Yes/No property erroneously controls the Filter Unacknowledged Operational buttons and the Filter Unacknowledged Operational Yes/No property erroneously controls the Filter Inactive Operational buttons (i.e. they are switched) (REF # S1604). Fixed: The Event Banner operational properties work correctly in this version. Note that upgrading the ePro Canvas software may require that the properties be reset if they are different.

October 2005 Page 12 of 36 EH04803009E

Page Editor Double-Clicking Color Fields Issue: When double-clicking on a color field, the color is deleted and set to NULL resulting in black being displayed as the default if a new value is not entered (REF # S1624). Fixed: Double-clicking in a color field does not remove the color value in this version.

Sorting State entries Issue: When working with State properties the entries can be sorted by selecting the Expression column heading. This causes problems when State Evaluation is set to If..Then..ElseIf (REF # S1623). Fixed: States can not be sorted when the State Evaluation is set to If..Then..ElseIf in this version.

Expression Editor and New Page entries Issue: New Page entries are not listed in the Expression Editor until the Project is saved and reopened (REF # S1570). Fixed: New Page entries are displayed correctly in the Expression Editor in this version.

Expression Editor and saving Page 1 Issue: Saving Page 1 will result in “Pages” being changed to “Page 1” and extraneous information being displayed under Pages in the Expression Editor (REF # S1570). Fixed: Saving Page 1 displays correctly in the Expression Editor in this version.

New Library entries Issue: When pasting an existing Library entry name into a property field and then editing it to be a new Library entry, the new entry will be automatically added to the Library with the library name followed by the @ sign erroneously included in the Name fields. In the case of Media Library Text entries, the Text field will also be populated with the same erroneous data (REF # S1584). Fixed: New Library entries are added correctly in this version.

Assigning Color properties from Color Libraries using Copy/Paste Issue: When using the copy/paste feature to copy a Color property that is the name of a Color Library entry and then selecting a target Color property field with a single click, the paste function will not work (REF # S1569). Fixed: Color Library entry values can be pasted by selecting (single click) or opening (double click) the target Color property field in this version.

Assigning Color properties using the Expression Editor Issue: The Expression Editor is not activated (green LED on Expression Editor) for assigning a Color property from a Color Library (REF # S1568). Fixed: Color properties can be assigned by using the Expression Editor in this version.

Line Controls and Undo operation Issue: Line Controls on a page are unexpectedly modified (position and size) when using the Undo feature after making changes on a Page (REF # S1567). Fixed: The Undo operation does not adversely affect Line Controls in this version.

October 2005 Page 13 of 36 EH04803009E

Page Editor Aborts Issue: The Page Editor may erroneously close after using a combinations of the following features: Page Save, Delete Object, Undo/Redo, Copy/Paste, Lines, Closing the Page Editor (REF # S1581, S1600). Fixed: The Page Editor does not lock up in this version.

Adding Controls while in Edit Control Mode Issue: When Edit Control Mode is active, the addition of a new Control will cause the Page Editor to immediately close (REF # S1515). Fixed: Adding a Control while Edit Control Mode is active works correctly in this version.

Page Background Color and the Color Library Issue: Color Library entries assigned to the Page Background Color property do not display correctly in the Page Editor but are correctly displayed during Runtime. Note that blinking colors cannot be used for a Page Background Color (REF # S1579). Fixed: Color Library entries assigned to the Page Background Color property display correctly in this version.

Language Changes and Display of Media Library Entry Data Issue: Pages do not redraw to reflect language changes (using Active Language in the Media Library General tab) until closing and reopening the page (REF # S1427). Fixed: Active language changes update pages correctly in the Page Editor in this version.

Data Entry and Target Expressions with Tags Issue: Data Entry Target Expressions that include tag references that are not referenced elsewhere on the same page will not evaluate correctly (REF # S1481). Workaround: Ensure that all tag references included in Data Entry Target Expressions are also included in properties of Control properties on the same page so that the tag item value is checked for changes.

Line Controls and Changing Visibility Issue: Line Controls with arrowheads do not draw properly when visibility is turned off and then on (REF # S1480). Workaround: Use lines without arrowheads if a Visibility Expression is required.

Using More Than 3000 Tags in a Tag Library Issue: When using a Tag Library with over 3000 tags responsiveness will be slow when opening the Tag Library in ePro Canvas and when starting the Runtime software and loading a .ucf file that includes a large Tag Library (Ref # S1214). Workaround: Instead of using tags from a Tag Library, place tags in the OPC Server and use the OPC Server Tag Browse feature in ePro Canvas to improve responsiveness in development and runtime modes.

Overlapping Button Controls and Visibility Expressions Issue: When Button Controls are overlapped and Visibility Expressions are used, the buttons that are visible will not function if invisible buttons are on top (i.e. invisible buttons on top of visible buttons prevent the visible buttons from functioning). (REF # S1588). Workaround: Do not use Visibility Expressions with overlapping Buttons.

ES Runtime upgrade from V2.10 to V2.20 will not install properly Issue: V2.10 users can not upgrade their ePro ES Runtime files using the Send to File feature. Workaround: Do not assign Button Control Text and/or Button Color from the Color Library. Assign standard colors instead (use “…” button to select).

Workaround: Do not allow Pages to be displayed with Break Actions at the same time as other application windows.

Workaround: Ignore or Hide the System Error messages.

Concatenating Media Library entries for Indicator Control States and Button Bar Labels Issue: Using concatenated Media Library entries for Indicator Control State Media properties or Button Bar Label properties may cause undesirable Runtime operation (REF # S1597). Workaround: Do not use concatenated Media Library entries for Indicator Control State Media properties or Button Bar Label properties.

Indicator Controls States with various sized fonts Issue: If an Indicator Control has varying sized text for the State properties the display will appear correct in the Page Editor but may be wrong during Runtime (Ref # S1546). Workaround: Make sure that all text in the Indicator Control State properties is the same.

Similar Tag Names and Expressions Issue: When an expression contains multiple tag names and the first referenced tag name is included as the first characters of another tag name then the expression will not evaluate properly during Runtime (ex. Tag #1 is Pump1 and Tag #2 is Pump12) (REF # S1617). Workaround: Make sure that all tags do not contain another tag as the first characters.

Project Explorer Windows XP Home Issue: ePro Canvas Software may not work correctly when using the Windows XP Home operating system (REF # S1544). Workaround: Install the ePro Canvas software on a development PC running Windows XP Professional or Windows 2000 operating system.
