After the release of this report the hadron physics community working for the PANDA experiment has expressed much concern for their future. This community was seriuosly engaged during the years in the design and preparation of the experiment and has also involved several young scientists who see their future in this project. I think that it is important to stress that in the recommendations of the last NuPECC long range plan the realization of FAIR was on the top of the list. In this recommendation FAIR was supported explicitly with the four pillars, NUSTAR, APPA, CBM and PANDA. At the moment the PANDA situation appears very worrysome and there is discouregment in this important component of the nuclear physics community. NuPECC sincerely shares with the PANDA community these worries and sees the negative consequences on the laboratories involved in the project.

To conclude, in line with its long rang plan, NuPECC expresses its support to FAIR as facility with the 4 pillars which are important for the European leadership in the field. Sincerely,
