1. LIGHT WEIGHTu-PVC pipes are relatively low in weight ;it weighs only 1/6 of steel pipes and 2/3 of cement pipes, so it is easier to handle, install and transport at a minimal cost.
2. RESISTANCE TO CORROSION u-PVC pipes and fittings have excellent resistance to harsh environments both natural and industrial activity. As it is non-metallic, it is resistant to all forms of metallic corrosion. Aggressive water from high sulphate soils will not corrode the pipes.
3. SMOOTH SURFACE u-PVC has a long term internal smoothness which is a significant hydraulic advantage with little or no build up of scale or abrasion.
4. CHEMICAL RESISTANCE u-PVC pipes have good resistance against normal acid and alkali soil conditions. It can also be used for a wide range of industrial effluent. They are inert to saline water, acid, detergent, fuel oil, alcohol, and various aliphatic hydrocarbons.
5. EASY INSTALLATION u-PVC pipes are easy to install and less time consuming than cast iron or asbestos cement systems. Rubber ring sealing ensures leak proof joint and maintenance work
BENEFITS OF u PVC PIPES
cement systems. Rubber ring sealing ensures leak proof joint and maintenance work can be carried out with minimum cost and difficulty.
6. DURABILITYHave high impact strength compared with traditional materials. Sufficiently rigid to withstand soil and vehicle loads. Longer lasting due to its inertness to most chemical and superior mechanical properties, it remains unharmed by insects or rodents.
7. SOLAR RADIATION u-PVC Pipes are designed for underground and indoor applications and can also be stored in the open for a few weeks without any harm.
8. NON TOXICuPVC pipes do not react to fluids they transport. Due to the tasteless and odorless nature their constituent material, uPVC pipes remain neutral to all fluids, and can most suitably be used for potable water
9. FIRE RESISTANCE The PVC compound used to manufacture our u- PVC pipes and fittings is a self-extinguishing material that does not support combustion. It does not burn without a flame being directly applied to it. Once the flame is removed the material stops burning.

Pipe class refers to the maximum working pressure that the various class of pipes can withstand, while subjected to continuous long-term service at water temperatures up to 20 degrees centigrade. At higher temperatures, the working pressure drops. The chart should be used for selecting the pipe class suitable for higher temperature requirement.

EXAMPLE 1: A 160mm storm water sewer (actual I.D. = 151.8mm) at a gradient of 1:300, has an estimated discharge when full of 15 l/s at velocity of 0.8m/sec according to the storm water chart.
Calculate discharge and velocity when running water 2/3 full (i.e. x/d = 0.667) From discharge diagram: proportional discharge = 0.79 Hencedischarge = 0.79 x 15 = 12l/s. From velocity diagram: Proportional velocity = 1.108 Hence velocity = 1.108 x 0.8 = 0.95m/sec
EXAMPLE 2: A 500mm foul water sewer (actual I.D. 475.6mm) at a gradient pf 1:400 has an estimated discharge when full of 180l/s at a velocity of 1.05m/sec according to the foul water chart.
Calculate depth of flow and velocity for a discharge of 60l/s Proportional discharge 60/180 = 0.333 From discharge diagram: Proportional depth x/d = 0.4 Hence depth of flow = 0.4 x 475.7 = 190mm From velocity diagram: Proportional velocity at x/d 0.4 = 0.9 Hence velocity = 1.05 x 0.9 = 0.95m/s

PANAR LIMITED, the leading PVC pipe manufacturing company was established in the year 1976 in Kano and presently is the largest manufacture of PVC pipes in Nigeria having capacity to produce pipe up to 500mm (20”) diameter.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION AND APPLICATIONS
PANAR UPVC CABLE DUCT is made out of Unplasticised Polyvinyl Chloride, the worlds leading Thermoplastics material used for Plastics Pipe.
PANAR rigid PVC conduit systems are used in exposed, encased in concrete, Concealed in walls and direct burial applications. Our conduit is used in many applications, including:
- Utilities
- Cable, data and communication lines
- Institutional, commercial, industrial buildings
- Residential applications, including service entrances
- Street and highway underground feeds
- Water and wastewater treatment plants
CONDUIT PIPE
BENEFITS
There are many benefits for using PANAR rigid PVC conduit pipes. It reduces maintenance and labour costs, and offers superior performance.
Labour Savings
PANAR rigid PVC conduit is easy to install, easy to cut and join and no special tools are required.
Smooth Interior
The inside of our conduit is smooth; therefore wire is not damaged when pulled through.
Easy Wire Pulls
The smooth interior surface of our conduit reduces friction when pulling conductors and wires through long runs. It is easy to pull wire and conductors, even through 90°bends.
Light Weight Material
PANAR rigid PVC conduit is approximately 1/5th the weight of steel and half the weight of aluminum, therefore making it easy to move and handle.
www.panargroup.com
Direct Burial
PANAR rigid PVC conduit can be used for direct burial, requiring no additional protection when installed. Normal construction practices should be followed with the trenching and backfilling operations.
Resistant to Chemical Attack
PANAR rigid PVC conduit resists attack by acids, alkalis, salt solutions and most other chemicals.
Corrosion Resistant
Our conduit and fittings are non-metallic therefore there is no risk of corrosion when exposed to naturally corrosive soil conditions. They will not rust or corrode from electrochemical and galvanic environments.
Non-Conductive
PANAR rigid PVC conduit is non-sparking and non-conducting. It eliminates the second point of contact and phase to ground faults. For a complete positive ground for the whole system, use a separate grounding conductor.
Fire Resistant
CONDUIT PIPE
The PVC compound used to manufacture our rigid PVC conduit and fittings is a self-extinguishing material that does not support combustion. It does not burn without a flame being directly applied to it. Once the flame is removed the material stops burning.
Quality Control & Assurance
Our conduit pipes undergo extensive testing and inspection in our manufacturing facilities.
High Tensile and Impact Strengths
PANAR rigid PVC conduit has high tensile and impact strengths at all temperatures. It meets the test requirements of the various standards.
Long Life
PANAR rigid PVC conduit is resistant to direct sunlight, heat and all weather conditions, even after years of exposure. It is also resistant to macro and micro-organisms, fungi, rodents and corrosive agents.
Concrete Tight
Our conduit pipes are concrete tight, when properly installed.

INSTULATION GUIDENLINES
Installation of rigid PVC conduit is quick and easy, so you can get the job done, on time and
To cut PANAR rigid PVC conduit, no special tools are required. Conduit can be easily cut using a hacksaw, a fine-toothed hand saw or PVC conduit cutters. For conduit that has a diameter larger than 2" (50mm), it is recommended to use a mitre box or saw guide to ensure a square cut. Deburr the cut end using a knife or file.
Sometimes it is required to bend the conduit on-site during installation. To make a bend, heat a section of conduit that is ten times the diameter in length. For example, if bending a 50mm (2") diameter conduit, heat a section of conduit 500mm (20") long. Use only a flameless heat source, like a heat gun. Do not use an open flame to heat the conduit. Heat the conduit evenly to approximately 260°F (127°C). If the conduit is not heated to the appropriate temperature the conduit may collapse or kink when bent. Once the conduit is
CONDUIT PIPE
appropriate temperature the conduit may collapse or kink when bent. Once the conduit is heated, bend to desired degree, and then bend a few extra degrees to allow for "spring back." After bending, immediately cool conduit with water or cold air. All bends shall not distort the raceway or damage the inner or outer surfaces of the conduit.
Joining - Solvent Cementing
Lengths of rigid PVC conduits are connected by solvent cement joints. These joints are strong, permanent and leak proof.
1. Deburr the spigot end of the conduit.
2. Clean the outside of the spigot and the inside of the socket of all dirt and
3. Before applying the cement, push the spigot into the socket to ensure they fit
4. Apply solvent cement to the outside of the spigot and the inside of the socket.
5. Push the spigot into the socket until it bottoms, turn a one-quarter turn to
ensure that the solvent is spread around the entire joint.
6. Hold together for a few seconds until joint is created. Solvent cemented joints
appear to be made immediately, however it can take up to 24 hours for the www.panargroup.com
Page 20 of 45
joint to completely cure. When installing conduit in cold weather, a primer
should be applied before the solvent cement. Also, keep the primer and
solvent cement warm to prevent it from thickening and becoming hard to use.
Solvent cement and primer have shelf life of 24 months if stored unopened at
72°F (22°C). Check the bottom of the can for the d ate of manufacture before
using.
Support Straps
Rigid PVC conduit needs to be supported with straps, when installed in above ground applications. The supporting straps should be installed snugly but allow linear movement of the conduit. The table below shows the recommended maximum spacing of the support straps.
CONDUIT PIPE
Storage of Materials
Conduits should be stored at the same temperature; otherwise they may become incompatible due to different expansion and contraction rates.
Connecting to non-PVC Materials
When rigid PVC conduit is joined directly to metal conduit, a PVC female threaded adapter must be used.
Maximum Operating Temperature
Rigid PVC conduit is intended for use at a continuous operating temperature of 167°F (75°C). However, when installing conduit, it can be used with up to 90°C wiring, if the conduit is listed for that use. PANAR rigid PVC conduit is rated for use with 90°C wiring.
Maximum Ambient Temperature
PANAR rigid PVC conduit and fittings can be installed in locations with an ambient temperature not exceeding 122°F (50°C).

STORAGE AND HANDLING PROCEDURES
1. Store and use at temperatures between 3°C (40°F) and 36°C (100°F). 2. Please note that SOLVENT CEMENT is highly flammable and should be stored in a cool, dry and
well-ventilated place. Extinguish all flames, pilot lights, stoves, heaters, electric motors and other sources of ignition during use (in the vicinity of use) and until all vapours are gone. Make sure that area of use is well-ventilated - open all doors and windows during use and until vapours are gone.
3. Do not smoke, eat or drink while handling solvent cement. 4. Wash thoroughly after handling and before eating. 5. Wear impervious clothing while handling. 6. Use eye-protection while handling 7. If swallowed, drink water. DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING. Call a doctor or poison control center
immediately. 8. If inhaled, get fresh air immediately. Seek medical attention if ill feelings persist. 9. In case of eye or skin contact, immediately flush with plenty of water for 15 minutes. Seek
medical attention if skin irritation persists.
PIPE JOINTING PROCEDURES
PIPE JOINTING PROCEDURES
PIPE JOINTING PROCEDURES
10. Stir or shake before using. 11. If consistency of the cement is "jelly-like" don’t use. 12. Square pipe ends and remove all burrs and dirt. 13. Check dry fit of pipe and fitting or socket. Pipe should easily go 1/3 of the way in. If pipe
bottoms, it should be snug. 14. Make a mark on the spigot (male) side to determine the depth to which it has to enter the
socket (female) side. 15. Clean pipe and fitting with IAPMO listed primer or a moist cloth. Make sure that the jointing
parts are dry before applying solvent cement. The male end can also be "roughened" slightly using "zero" type sand paper.
16. When solvent welding at temperatures below 3°C or above 30°C, consult the solvent cement manufacturer.
17. When solvent welding pipe over 75mm (3"), recommended applicator is a natural bristle brush one-half the pipe diameter, i.e. 75mm (3") brush for a 160mm (6") pipe.
18. Apply thin coat of cement to fitting; avoid puddling inside. Make certain the entire socket surface is covered. Be especially careful not to "overcoat" thin wall or bell end pipe.
19. Apply liberal coat of cement to pipe to the depth of the socket; leave no void. 20. Assemble parts QUICKLY! CEMENT MUST BE FLUID. If not fluid, recoat both parts. 21. Push pipe FULLY into fitting using a ¼ turning motion until pipe bottoms. 22. Hold pipe and fitting together for 30 seconds. Wipe off excess with cloth. Completed joints
should not be disturbed until they have cured sufficiently to withstand handling. 23. Keep container closed when not in use. 24. Do not pressure test until cement is fully cured - usually 24 hours.
www.panargroup.com
PIPE ASSEMBLY, JOINTING, SOCKET Accurate axial alignment of spigot and socket must be ensured prior to jointing.
Gasket should be located in its special groove at the bell joint.
Before jointing the pipes, a suitable lubricant should be applied to the straight end of the pipe. Damage to the gasket or the pipe may result from the use of unapproved lubricants.
PIPE JOINTING PROCEDURES
DEPTH OF SPIGOT PENETRATION INTO THE SOCKET
Due to the relatively high thermal expansion coefficient of PVC, special attention should be paid to the depth at which the pipe spigot is to be pushed into the socket.
(a) If pipe laying is carried out at ambient temperature exceeding 30 degrees centigrade (850 F), the spigot should be pushed to its full depth (normally shown by a ‘ reference mark’ on the pipe).
(b) If pipe laying is carried out at lower ambient temperature, a space of 10 mm should be left for pipe thermal expansion within the socket.
www.panargroup.com
1. Handling: Unplasticised PVC is a strong, though lightweight material, being about one-fifth the weigh of steel or cast iron. As a result, pipes made of this material are very easily handled and there is a tendency for them to be thrown about much more than their metal counterparts. This should be discouraged and reasonable care be taken in handling and storage to prevent damage to the pipes.
2. Storage: Pipes should be given adequate support at all times. They should not be stacked in large piles, especially under warm temperature conditions, as the bottom pipes may distort thus giving rise to difficulty in pipe alignment and joining. Socketed and spigoted pipes (‘Paraseal’ joints, ‘Anger’ joints) should be stacked in layers with sockets placed at alternate ends of the stack and with the sockets protruding so as to avoid lop-sides stacks and the imparting of a permanent set to the pipes.
2.1. For long-term storage, pipe racks should preferably provide continuous support but, if this is not possible, timber supports of at least 75mm bearing width, at spacings not greater than 1m centres should be placed beneath the pipes and, if the stacks are rectangular at twice this spacing at the side. In such pipe racks, pipes may be stored not more than six layers high, but if different classes of pipe are kept in the same racks then the thickest classes must always be at the bottom. The pipes should be stored in shade.
HANDLING OF u PVC PIPE
2.2. For temporary storage in the field, where racks are not provided, care should be taken that the ground is level and free from loose stones. Pipes stored thus should not exceed three layers high and should be staked to prevent movement.
2.3. Stack heights should be reduced if pipes are nested (i.e. pipes stored inside pipes of layer diameter). Reduction in height should be proportional to the total weight of the nested pipes compared with the weight of pipes normally contained in such storages.
3. Transportation:
3.1. When loading pipes on to vehicles, care should be taken not to allow them to come into contact with any sharp corners such as cope irons, loose nails heads or the like, as pipes may be damaged by being rubbed against these during transit. The ends of the pipe should be suitably protected from damage.
3.2. While in transit, pipes should be well secured and supported over their entire length. For instance, pipes should not be allowed to wave about by being left projecting unsecured over the tailboard of a lorry.
3.3. Pipes may be off-loaded from vehicles by rolling them gently down timbers, care being taken to ensure that pipes do not fall one upon another nor on to any hard or uneven surface.

Forsheda 575 RUBBER SEALS
General Application Forsheda 575 is a rubber seal for plastic pressure pipes and waste water conduit in ground.
Seal Design and Function
The F-575 seal is a combined lip and compression seal. The seal is positioned in the socket by the pipe manufacturer. The ”main lip” comprises a combined lip and com-pression section. The ”front and rear lip” locates the seal in the socket groove and absorbs any permissible variations in the groove.
Seal Performance The 575 seal meets or exceeds current European standards for both pressure and vacuum, deflec-tion and shear load. Furthermore the seal design gives low assembly forces making pipe jointing easier.
Test reports are available from Trelleborg Forsheda Pipe Seals on request.

General Application Seal Performance
RUBBER SEALS
General Application Seal for plastic pressure pipes, waste water conduit and cast iron fittings.
Seal Design and Function
Forsheda 576 Anger-Lock™ locked-in seal is a combined lip and compression seal which is positioned and locked inside the socket by the pipe manufacturer. Making the seal an integral part of the pipe eliminates many of the disadvantages of separate sealing rings. The unique design comprises of a rubber sealing element bonded to the plastic retaining element which holds the seal securely in position during transport and pipe assembly. The seal is designed to absorb any permissable ariations in the groove.
Seal Performance The F-576 Anger-Lock™ seal meets or exceeds current European standards for pressure, vacuum, deflection and shear load. Furthermore the seal design gives low assembly forces making pipe jointing easier.
