Functions of the Archival Council for the State of Goa:

i) The Archival Council will be charged with the duty of examining constitutional, finanCial, ,adminis­trative and archival aspects of enactment or archival, law or laws for the Goa Archives in consultation with the Department of Law, Education, Finance and Depart­ment· of Personnel and Administrative Reforms of the, State of Goa.

il) It will determine the class or categories of records, together with their specified periods in public or private custody, for declaring them of local/national importance.

iii) It will consider and prescribe the nature and extent of authority of inspectlon,protection and access to records so declared. '

iv) It will co-ordinate archival ,activities in the State with a, view to streamlining the archival practices as far as practicable. '

v) It will maintain a panel of names of eminent histOrians recommende!i by the Indian Historical Records Commission for. being drawn upon for consultation by the State. .

vi) It will examine the development I>rojects of the Archives of this State.

vii) It will tender techI!ical advice to the Planning Board on the allocation of funds ..

viii) It will lay down the guidelines for the proper acquisition, arrangements, desposition and access. to· records' for purpose of 'bonafide research.

!x) It will take note of all archival development in the State and offer such advice and guidance' as may be called far.

x) It will examine the resolutions passed by the' Indian Historical Records Commission and recommend., practical Course/Courses of action for. their implemen­tation by the State but .shall nat withhold any' reso­lution . of the Commission from the Government.

Societies Rules, 1962, the Durgesh Coop. Housing Society Ltd., was called upon to submit its explanation if any, within one month from the date of issue. of interim Order cit,ed above as to why the society be not taken into liquidation. However, the society has not given/fJlrnished any explanation in regard to the same till this date. There shall be no change in the existing set-up of there­maining sectors of Public Works Department.

This order shall come into force with immediate effect. However, the. transitional adjustment of the Sub-Divisions/~ distribution of the workload alongwith the corresponding posts allji staff within the respective Circles/DivisionsfSu~ -DivisiOillS shall be oompleted in a f1l!t'tnight from the date of the issue of Order.

If the acquisition is abandoned wholly or in part, the fact will also be notified in the same ·manner ..

Whereas it appears! to the Government of Goa (hereinafter referred to as "tbe Government") that the land specified ill the SChedule appended hereto (hereinafter referred to as the "said land!') is likely to be needed for public purpose viz. Vadaval Distributory of left Bank Canal of Tillari Irriga­tion Project from Ch. 3.661 Km. to 5.02'7 Km. at V~llage Salem and Latambarcem of Bicholim Taluka.

And whereas in the opinion of the Government the pro­v1sions of sub-section (1) of section 17 of the Land Acqui­sition Act, 1894' (Central Act 1 of 1894) (hereinafter referred to as "the said ,Act") are applicable. '

Now, therefore, the' Government hereby notifies, under Bub-section (1) of :sectfon 4 of 'the said Act, that the said land is likely to be needed for the purpOse specified above.

The Government further directs under sub-section (4) ot' -section 17 of the said Act that the provisions of section 5A of the said Act shall not apply in respect of the said land.

2. All persons interested in the said land are hereby warned not to obstruct or interfere with any surveyor or other persons employed upon the said land for ~he purpoSe o~ the

. 'said acquisition. Any contract for the dlsposal of the said land by sale, lease, mortgage, assignment, exchange or other­wise or any outlay commenced or improvements n:mde thereon without the sanction of the Collector appointed under para­:grfaph 4 below, after the date of the publication of this Notification, will, under clause (seventh) of section 24Df the said Act, be disregarded by him while assessing cDmpen..'" sation for such parts of the said land· as may be finally acquired.

3. If the GDvernment is satisfied that the said land .is needed for the aforesaid purpose, a deClaration to that effect .under seotion 6 of the said Act will be published in the @lfficlal Gazette and in two. daily newspapers and. public nDtice thereof shall be given in due course. If the acquisitiDn is abandoned wholly or in part, the fact will also be nDtified In the same manner.

4. The Government further appoints Under clause (c) Df 'section 3 of the said Act Collector,. North Gpa District, Panaji-Goa to perform the functions of a Collector, North Goo District, Panaji under the said Act in respect of the said land.

5. The Government also. authorises, under sub-section (2) of sectiDn 4 of the said Act, the follDwing Dfficers to do the ,acts, specified therein in respect of the said land.
