On behalf of the CME/Program Committee chaired by David P. Sheridan, M.D., the Pan American Allergy Society is proud to present its 2019 Spring Training Course “Recognition, Diagnosis & Treatment of Allergy & Sensitivity Disorders”.

The goal of the committee and I was to design an intense two-day Diego Saporta, M.D.program beginning on Friday, March 29 and ending on Saturday, PAAS President

March 30, 2019, which will allow minimum time out of the office, accommodate spring breaks, and provide the attendees with scientific knowledge and techniques to enable incorporation of allergy and sensitivity disorders in their practice when they return to their offices on Monday morning.

Retirement Announcements Nolan D. Shipman, M.D. of Bryan, TX, announced his retirement as of August 8, 2018. Dr. Shipman is a long-time member of PAAS, has served as faculty member and in multiple leadership roles, including President. He had a long and very rewarding career serving the residents of the greater Bryan/College Station area, where he was the first ENT physician in the area. He also taught as Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at Texas A&M’s School of Medicine. He and his wife, Doy, are looking forward to spending more time with their family.  C. Richard Mabray, M.D. of Corpus Christi, TX, announced his retirement as of September 13, 2018. Dr. Mabray is also a long-time member of PAAS and has served over the years as a faculty member and leadership roles including President. He had a very active practice as an OB-GYN, bariatric and environmental medicine physician. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army Medical Corps in which he served in the Korean War, continental U.S., Surinam, and Desert Shield/Desert Storm. Dr. Mabray and his wife, Edwina, also look forward to having more leisure time and enjoying family.  In Memoriam – William J. Rea, M.D. PAAS was deeply saddened to learn of the unexpected passing of Dr. Rea on August 16th. Dr. Rea was a long-time member, one of our very highly respected faculty members and served in leadership roles including President. Dr. Rea was the Director of the Environmental Health Center – Dallas, and the President of the American Environmental Health Foundation. He completed residencies in general and cardiovascular surgery and served in those fields before entering private practice focusing on environmental medicine. He authored many articles on cardiovascular surgery, as well as 10 books including textbooks on environmental medicine. He is survived by his wife, Vera and numerous family members. Pan American Allergy Society 2019 Spring Training Course March 29-30, 2019 – DoubleTree by Hilton San Antonio Airport - San Antonio, TX

ACCREDITATION

The Pan American Allergy Society is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The Pan American Allergy Society designates this educational activity for a maximum of 14 AMA PRACategory 1 Credits™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Successful Completion: Successful completion for each day of this activity is attendance and evaluating those sessions for which the attendee has registered.

REGISTRATION

All sessions are open to physicians, registered nurses and their medical personnel. CME/CNE certificates will be mailed within two weeks after the meeting.

P.A.A.S. Registration Fees: 10% Discount for P.A.A.S. Members**

**Non-members may join P.A.A.S. while registering by including annual dues ($400 for physicians; $200 fornon-physicians and foreign attendees). Please check the box "Please send P.A.A.S. Membership Application"and add fee for annual dues. Use "member rates" to compute fees. More savings are realized with multiple registrations.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Fees Include: All breakfasts and breaks for registrants only and a syllabus for each session for which the attendee has registered and other amenities. Additional syllabuses can be purchased at Registration Desk as long as supplies last.

Medical Residents: $200.00 for all or part of training course and seminar upon written recommendation of a medical residency director. Please call P.A.A.S. office (210-495-9853) for information.

Nursing contact hours have been applied for through the Texas Nurses Association, an accredited approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.

PRELIMINARY PROGRAM

Early Bird Discount! Registrations received on or before December 31, 2018 will receive a 10% discount on total fees.

Application for CME credit has been filed with the American Academy of Family Physicians. Determination of credit is pending. AAFP Prescribed credit is beneficial to all physicians through its equivalency agreements with the American Medical Association and the American Osteopathic Association. Other healthcare organ-izations recognize its credit towards their own requirements.

Special Needs: The Pan American Allergy Society fully complies with the legal requirements of the American with Disabilities Act. DAY 1: FRIDAY, MARCH 29, 2019 SESSION A: “THE INTRADERMAL DILUTIONAL TEST: A TOOL FOR THE SAFE

ADMINISTRATION OF INJECTABLE AND SUBLINGUAL (SLIT) IMMUNOTHERAPY"

IMPORTANT: Previously referred to as “Skin Endpoint Titration” (SET), the lecturer will teach the learner a thorough understanding of the precise Intradermal Dilutional Testing (IDT) technique and its place in the practice of allergy and immunotherapy. Education in IDT techniques will enable the learner to master more advanced techniques taught in Session "B".

Target Audience: This session is open to those physicians, registered nurses and other nursing and allied healthcare personnel who are preparing themselves to add recognition, diagnosis and treatment of inhalant allergy to their practice as well as those physicians, registered nurses and other nurses and healthcare personnel who are seeking a review of the basics of recognition, diagnosis and treatment of inhalant allergy using intradermal dilutional testing (IDT).

Goal/Overall Objective: This session is designed to enable physicians, registered nurses and other nurses and healthcare personnel to implement recognition, diagnosis and treatment of inhalant allergy using IDT as the basis for diagnosis and planning of immunotherapy formulation when they return to their offices.

If you desire to implement an allergy program using "MultiTest II" and “Modified Quantitative Testing (MQT)” when you return to your office, Session B is appropriate for you. Lecturers will instruct on the fundamentals of recognition of inhalant allergy followed by diagnosis and treatment of inhalant allergy using MQT.

Target Audience: This session is open to those physicians, registered nurses and other nursing and healthcare personnel who are preparing themselves to add the recognition, diagnosis and treatment of inhalant allergy to their practice as well as those physicians, registered nurses, other nursing and allied healthcare personnel who are seeking a review of the basics of recognition, diagnosis and treatment of inhalant allergy.

Goal/Overall Objective: This session is designed to enable physicians and healthcare providers to implement recognition, diagnosis and treatment of inhalant allergy when they return to their practices. “RECOGNITION, DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF FOOD ALLERGY”

Target Audience: This session is open for those physicians, registered nurses and other nursing and healthcare personnel who are preparing themselves to add the recognition, diagnosis and treatment of food allergy to their practices as well as those physicians, registered nurses, other nursing and allied healthcare personnel who are seeking a review of the basics of recognition, diagnosis and treatment of food allergy.

Goal/Overall Objective: This session is designed to enable physicians and healthcare providers to implement recognition, diagnosis and treatment of food allergy when they return to their practices. The knowledge and techniques learned at this activity will prepare physicians and healthcare personnel to do so.
