Happy August everyone. Been a rainy hot sum-mer so far. Glad to see the rain, we always need it. Mark and I are going on vacation and will be gone from Aug 5th to the 16th. See you when we get back. Visitation of the Lodges continues. There are two this month. Edgewater/New Smyrna Beach is having theirs on Aug. 5th and Deland is hav-

ing theirs on Aug. 19th. This is a great way to meet other members from our district and check out their Lodges. School will be starting up again soon. Time for our annual school supply drive. Please drop off your school supply donations in the of-fice and they will be distributed to the needy schools. Any supplies will be greatly appreciated. There is a three day sales tax holiday from Aug. 4th – 6th. This year, thanks to the members of our Lodge, we sent 30 children to camp. Big pat on the back to all of you for making this happen. Thank you. Jeannie Elks Cultivate

Good Fellowship!

Brent Borton –August 2017 Elk-Of-The-Month by Ralph Dodge

Brent grew up in a small town in Youngsville, Pennsylvania. He graduated high school and went on to study

electronics in Pittsburgh. Upon graduation, he was hired by Lockheed and given a choice to move to Georgia

or Sunnyvale Ca. He chose the latter. He was soon bored with that and went to work for a small startup compa-

ny called Logictest. It was bought out by Dynalectron. Needless to say, living in the bay area for 36 years was

quite an adventure for them and their sons, Curtis and Todd. From there they decided that they had seen all

there was to see and moved again to Las Vegas, where they lived for 10 years. Ruth grew tired of the desert and

in 2012 they moved to Palm Coast to be close to Curtis and the beach. Their good neighbor Michael Binning

introduced Brent to the “ELKS” and the rest is history. Brent got involved with the Kitchen Witches and on any given day you can

find him cutting things up and prepping meals for dinner, banquets, and every before meeting meal. Brent exemplifies Brotherly

love by always being there for anyone who asks. “No” is not in his vocabulary. Make sure that you say hello or introduce yourself

if you see Brent around the Lodge. You’ll be glad you did.

Congratulations to August’s Elk of the Month, Brent Borton!!

100 Elks & Friends Helping to make a difference Help the Lodge and you might win some cash while doing it. Here is how it works. There are 100 slots available for purchase. Each slot is sold for $50. Each person is given a number from 1 thru 100. Your number is yours for 1 year beginning Apr 1 to Mar 31. Each month a number is picked, the person with that number will be notified and given $100 prize. You need not be present to win. Your number is returned to the pool and you will still be eligible for all remaining drawings during the year. In addition once a quarter a number is drawn and the person who’s number is selected receives $200 prize. You need not be present to win. Total prizes available for the year are $2000. The remaining funds are given to the Lodge to be used for charities and Lodge projects. Numbers go quick so don’t delay. Those wishing to keep their same number from last year must contact the 100 club committee. For more information or details please contact: Jean Gough 447-4177
