How Single-Item & Group Bid Sheets Work

Single Item: Generic Painting Bidder #16 opens the bidding in upper right column at $20. Bidder #52 raises bid to $22. Bidder #48 raises bid to $24 Bidder #16 raises bid to $26 – winning bid. Furthest bid amount down the sheet is the guaranteed (“Buy it Now”) price as you cannot be outbid.

Multiple Spots: Generic Dinner Event Bid Sheet has four columns for the four available spots. Bid to the left for whatever bid amount (row) you select. Highest bid amounts (farthest positions down the sheet) win. Earliest bids at a particular dollar amount (bids to the left) win ties. This means that the bidder with the highest priority is the bottom row; then left most. In the example below, the priorities are shown in grey (larger priority is better) In the example below, the bidding started at $20 with bidder #52 bidding on two spots. #93 then bid at $22. #13, seeing that they would not win two spots at $20, bids at $22 also. #52 sees that they will only win one seat now, so bids twice at $24. #48 then bids at $26. #93 decides to risk #13 bidding again and does not rebid. The four eventual winners are #48 (highest bidder at $26, position 16), #52 (two spots at $24, positions 12 & 11), and #93 (earliest bidder at $22 at position 8).
