Bank may close an account should it have any reason to believe that the account holder has used her/his account for a purpose for which it is not allowed. (Rule No. 5) Deposits There is no restrict ion o n numb er of d eposits that c an be made into the ac count. No deposit in cash for less than Rs 10/- will be ac ce pted. Cheques, dra fts or other instrum ents drawn onl y in favou r of the ac count ho lder wil l be ac ce pted for c redit of the a cc oun t. Third party ins trum ents endorsed in favour of the ac count hol der wil l NOT be a cc epted . No d rawin gs aga inst ac ce pted instru ments wil l be nor mally permitted unti l these are realized. In satisfac toril y c onducted ac counts, im mediate cre dit will b e a fforded for outstation i nstrum ents de po sited up to Rs 20000 /-, wh ich may change from time to time. This in formation c an also be ob ta ined from Branc hes. Overdue interest will be rec overe d for instrum ents subseque ntly returned unpaid. (Rule Nos. 21 , 22, 23 ) Withdrawals The accountholder can withdraw mo ney pe rsonally from her/ his ord inary Sa vings Bank Ac c ount by using Ba nk’s sta ndard withdrawa l form. The pass book must accompany the withdrawal form. The withdrawal form can be used only for receiving payments by the accountholder him self/ herself. AT M cum Debi t c ard c an also be used in A TMs for ca sh with drawal. T he ac countho lder c annot wi thdraw an a moun t less than Rs. 50/-. All wi thdra wals must be in round R upees only Thi rd party payments through withdrawa l form s are not permitted . A let te r of authori ty as per the prescribed form at, along with th e pass bo ok should be sent to t he Bank through an author ized representative to rec eive payment in ca se the ac count holder is unabl e to atte nd person ally to withdraw c ash from her/hi s a cc ount. (Ru le Nos. 24, 25, 26) The mini mum drawin g permitted pe r cheque form is limited to Rs. 50/-. There is no ceiling on the maximu m amount that c an be dra wn through a single cheq ue. (Rule No. 30) The maxim um num ber of de bi t e ntries permitted in an ac count is 30 per half ye ar or as dec ided by the Bank from tim e t o time, exc ludin g tra nsactions thro ugh alternate c hannels l ike State Bank A TMs and Inte rnet Bankin g. (Rule No. 33) Overdrafts Overdrafts in Savings Bank accounts may be permitted under exceptional circumstances with prior arrangements only. Cheques drawn in exc ess of the balance in the acc oun t wil l be returned unpaid. Service charge will be rec overed e ac h tim e a c heque is returned unpaid for w ant of sufficient funds. (Rule No. 3 1) Inop erative Acc ou nts Acc oun t ho lders are advised to operate their acc oun ts regularly. Ac counts n ot o perated a re classified as Inop erat ive after the stipulated time period of 24 months since last operation. Inoperative accounts having less than the stipulated minimum balance will be charged a service charge at the end of the first year after the account is identified as inoperative and thereafter every year, if the account remains ino perative. If the balance in the acc ount is equal to or less than th e service charge, the account will be closed under advice to the account holder. The current prescribed charges in this regard are available at the Bank’s website www.statebankofindia.com. This information can also be obtained f rom Branc hes. (Rule Nos. 36, 3 7) Sta ndin g Instru ctio ns The ac count ho lder c an request the Bank for eff ec ting perio dica l paym ent of in surance premiu m, membershi p fee s etc . by de bit to h er/ his ac count on payment of service c harges. T he current prescribed charges for Standing Instruction are available at the Bank’ s website   www.st ate bankofindia. c om . This in formation c an also be ob ta ined from Branches. (Rule No. 40) Payment of In terest Interest at the prescribed rate will be calculated on a daily product basis and will be credited to the account half yearly on 30th June and 31st December. Interest will be paid If it works out to be Rs. 1/- or more and will be rounded off to the nearest rupee. The Payment of interest on Saving Bank Account is subjected to RBI directives and any change therein may be notified through advertisement in the newspapers,(Rule Nos, 41,42) Transfer & Closure Of Account Acc oun ts may be transferred between branches of the Ba nk at the request of the ac count ho lder(s). Request for closur e of a cc oun t shou ld stat e the reason for closure. OPERATIONS IN THE ACCOUNT

General

Savings Bank account is essentially a facility to build up savings and hence must not be used as a Current Account. Bank may close an accountshould it have any reason to believe that the account holder has used her/his account for a purpose for which it is not allowed. (Rule No. 5)

Deposits

There is no restriction on number of deposits that can be made into the account. No deposit in cash for less than Rs 10/- will be accepted.

Cheques, drafts or other instrum ents drawn only in favour of the account holder wil l be accepted for credit of the account. Third partyinstruments endorsed in favour of the account holder wil l NOT be accepted. No drawings against accepted instruments wil l be normallypermitted unti l these are realized. In satisfactorily conducted accounts, immediate credit will be afforded for outstation instrum ents deposited up

to Rs 20000/-, which may change from time to time. The normal collection and out of pocket charges will be recovered. The current limit andcharges prescribed for this are available at the Bank’s website www.statebankofindia.com. This in formation can also be obtained from Branches.Overdue interest will be recovered for instruments subsequently returned unpaid. (Rule Nos. 21, 22, 23)

Withdrawals

The accountholder can withdraw money personally from her/ his ordinary Savings Bank Account by using Bank’s standard withdrawal form.

The pass book must accompany the withdrawal form. The withdrawal form can be used only for receiving payments by the accountholderhim self/ herself. ATM cum Debit card can also be used in ATMs for cash withdrawal. The accountholder cannot wi thdraw an amount less thanRs. 50/-. All withdrawals must be in round Rupees only Third party payments through withdrawal form s are not permitted. A letter of authori ty

as per the prescribed format, along with the pass book should be sent to the Bank through an authorized representative to receive payment incase the account holder is unable to attend personally to withdraw cash from her/his account. (Rule Nos. 24, 25, 26) The minimum drawingpermitted per cheque form is l imited to Rs. 50/-. There is no ceiling on the maximum amount that can be drawn through a single cheque. (Rule

No. 30) The maximum num ber of debit entries permitted in an account is 30 per half year or as decided by the Bank from time to time,excluding transactions through alternate channels l ike State Bank ATMs and Internet Banking. Cash withdrawal at ATMs of other banks wil l becounted as a debit entry in the account for the above purpose and are not to be treated as transactions made through alternate channels.

Charges prescribed for exceeding this limit are available at the Bank’s website www.statebankofindia.com. This information can also be obtainedfrom Branches. (Rule No. 35) Cash withdrawal can be made from the accounts of the sick, old or incapacitated account holders who are unableto attend the Bank and/or also not able to put their signature or thumb impression for withdrawing cash by completing the laid down

formalities. (Rule No. 33)

Overdrafts

Overdrafts in Savings Bank accounts may be permitted under exceptional circumstances with prior arrangements only. Cheques drawn in

excess of the balance in the account wil l be returned unpaid. Service charge will be recovered each tim e a cheque is returned unpaid for want ofsufficient funds. Charges prescribed for this are available at the Bank’s website www.statebankofindia.com. This information can also beobtained from Branches. (Rule No. 31)

Inoperative Accounts Account holders are advised to operate their accounts regularly. Accounts not operated are classified as Inoperative after the

stipulated time period of 24 months since last operation. Inoperative accounts having less than the stipulated minimum balance will be chargeda service charge at the end of the first year after the account is identified as inoperative and thereafter every year, if the account remainsinoperative. If the balance in the account is equal to or less than the service charge, the account will be closed under advice to the account holder.

The current prescribed charges in this regard are available at the Bank’s website www.statebankofindia.com. This information can also beobtained from Branches. (Rule Nos. 36, 37)

Standing Instru ctions

The account holder can request the Bank for effecting periodical payment of insurance premium, membership fees etc. by debit to her/ hisaccount on payment of service charges. The current prescribed charges for Standing Instruction are available at the Bank’s website  www.statebankofindia.com. This in formation can also be obtained from Branches. (Rule No. 40)

Payment of In terest

Interest at the prescribed rate will be calculated on a daily product basis and will be credited to the account half yearly on 30th June and 31st

December. Interest will be paid If it works out to be Rs. 1/- or more and will be rounded off to the nearest rupee. The Payment of interest onSaving Bank Account is subjected to RBI directives and any change therein may be notified through advertisement in the newspapers,(Rule Nos,41,42)

Transfer & Closure Of Account

Accounts may be transferred between branches of the Bank at the request of the account holder(s). Request for closure of account should state

the reason for closure. The pass book, unused cheque leaves and the ATM cum Debit card (after cutting into two p ieces across the magneticstrip) must accompany such request. Joint accounts can be closed only at the request of all such joint signatories. Service charge at prescribedrate wil l be recovered if an account is closed prior to twelve months of its opening. The current charges prescribed for this are available at the
