Online Shopping: An Analysis of Technology Acceptance Model of

Jordanian Customers

Mohammed Al Jabari, City University College of Ajman, [email protected]

Abstract: Previous studies have attempted to determine the various factors which affect online

shopping behavior based on different theories. The issue is the difficulty of identifying significant factors that influence customer behavior. Existing studies concentrated on online shopping in developed countries. For instance, in the country Jordan, online shopping remains in the early stage of development. Little is known about the acceptance of online shopping and the factors which influence this behavior throughout this country. The results indicate that perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use have a direct effect on customers’ attitudes towards online shopping and attitude determine the behavioral intentions of online shopping. Limitations, implications and future research are discussed. Keywords: Online Shopping Behaviour, TAM, Attitude, Jordan.

Towards Service Integration in E-Government Implementation

Asad M. Asad, Sheffield Hallam University, UK, [email protected]

Abstract: Service integration is one of the most critical issues affecting e-government

implementations all over the world. Providing integrated services to citizens, businesses, and all other stakeholders involved in e-government at "one stop portal" is considered to be a big opportunity for governments to improve their services’ efficiency and effectiveness. This paper aims to provide a general background and theoretical foundation towards understanding the importance of service integration in e-government implementations. To achieve this aim, a comprehensive literature review of e-government, in general, and service integration issue in particular, has been conducted. The paper has shed a new light on the main concepts, definitions, objectives, benefits, challenges, explanations and analytical bases for the topic. As a result, a model that clarifies the importance of service integration in e-government implementation has been proposed. Keywords: E-government Implementation; Service Integration; Maturity models; One Stop Portal.

management

Giovanna Zanotti, University of Bergamo, Italy, [email protected]

Abstract: The relationship between gender and behavioral finance, the impact of gender on financial choices, has been the subject of extensive debate and research. The purpose of the thesis is to analyze the interaction of risk-taking, focusing on gender differences in investment strategies and risk propensity. We present new evidence from mutual fund management. Empirical results reveal gender heterogeneity and suggest that gender may affect the investment behavior of mutual fund managers. We find evidence that female managers produce higher returns and lower risks and provide a more efficient fund management. Key Word: Behavioral finance, Investment, Mutual fund, Financial risk.

Cyberspace: Self-Regulation as a New Form of Managing the Internet

Jackson Adams, University of Essex, UK, [email protected]

Mohamad Albakajai, University of Essex, UK

Abstract: Activities conducted over the Internet may acquire a cross-border dimension, and

potential legal disputes resulting from these activities may lead to a conflict of laws. Although some international laws and rules do exist for resolving such disputes, yet they are not uniform. For instance online privacy laws differ from one country to another with no proper and sufficient international consensus on the need for laws that protect the privacy of online users. Hence, this study is intended to be a call for establishing a new form for regulating the activities associated with the cyberspace. This is due to the fact that the traditional pattern of international lawmaking – which is very slow - no longer suffices for regulating and managing the fast growing demands of the cyberspace. Focusing on the growing role of individuals and corporations in developing the internet, the new form is based on self-regulating initiatives that incorporates the efforts of the civil society as well as the business corporations. The study also advocates that in regulating the Cyberspace, governments should not define their priorities based solely on the risks associated with cybercrime; they should recognize that the Internet is also used as a peaceful instrument of global communications. So the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which provides that "all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights”, should be the point of departure for Internet governance (IG). As online activities are conceived as freedom of speech or expression and freedom to seek, receive and impart information and ideas, the new form of managing the Internet should be shaped by establishing cooperation between the governments and the professionals with experience in the legal and technical field. The international conventions on the law of the sea and on the environment are good examples of such wide cooperation. So, such cooperation, if it is established, will lead to a human rights online framework convention. As for the data used in this study, the researchers will be drawing on relevant cases demonstrating that the internet is being governed best through the cooperation between the governments and the private actors. The cases will show how the international use of Cyberspace weakens the effectiveness of the national as well as the international laws, leading to a threat to the sovereignty of the states. The examples used will include Wikipedia and Facebook – which will help the researcher proving that citizens of the Internet community have an important role in managing and governing the Internet. Key Words: Cyberspace, International law, self-regulation, Internet Management.

R.R.K.Sharma, Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, [email protected]

Abstract: The blare of e-commerce and variety of products in the market, consumers as well as

retailers have shifted to a new age of retailing which brings the experience of buying and selling to next level, generally known as brick and click model. In the current age, the retailers work as a facilitator which gives the platform for buying and selling without investing extra cost on physical spaces which is generally known as e-tailers model. In such context, brick and click retailers are more capable of catering large section of the population as compared to brick and mortar retailers. The aim of this paper is to identify the different types of retail formats from online (Brick and Click) and offline (Brick and Mortar) markets, and to relate the Organizational Structures to the operational efficiency and performance of different class of markets. Literature review is used to identify various retail formats. Also, secondary data is used to cover the large range of retailers who cater in the vast array of Indian market. The research tries to develop the reasonable argument of the current shift from offline (Physical Stores) to online buying and selling trends. Organization structure is explained with the help of framework proposed by Pugh et al. and is being used as a measure to define the functioning of organization. The scope of this research is extended to the specific context of Indian market scenario. The results of this research reveal that in Brick and Mortar Retail Format the degree of Formalization, specialization, trust and rational strategy process, Integration and Synergy, and flexibility is low as compared to Brick and Click Retail formats. Whereas, degree of Standardization and complexity of work-flow is low in Brick and Click Retail format as compared to Brick and Mortar Retail Format. It would be useful to test the findings of this study in other developing countries where industries are still struggling on selling their products on online e-commerce platform. Identification of Drivers Affecting the Performance of Different Format

of Retailers

Vinayak A. Drave, Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, [email protected]

R. R. K. Sharma, Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, [email protected]

Abstract: The aim of this paper is to identify the key drivers, i.e., enablers and disablers, which affect the functionality of and working of different format of retailers (physical stores and e-tailers). They are further classified with respect to the kind of retailers in order to have a deep understanding of the effect (positive / negative) in their presence and absence. The challenge also lies in understanding of these drivers and to control them. For that purpose dynamic SCOR Model is used as a key tool which ensures the sustainable performance for different kind of retailers. Literature review is used to identify various retail formats. Also, secondary data is used to cover the large range of retailers who cater in the vast array of Indian market. Different drivers are identified after exhaustive literature survey. Based on the theoretical analysis this study developed interesting hypothesis relating to e-tailers, drivers, flexibility, organizational structure, outsourcing and supply chain evaluation. This paper undertakes an empirical investigation to verify the framework presented. Keywords: Enablers, Disablers, Brick and Click, Brick and Mortar, Multi-commodity retailers,

Single-commodity retailers, Organizational Structure, Supply Chain evaluation, SCOR Model, dynamic SCOR Model, Balance Score Card, Retail formats.

Islamic Financing in Theory and Practice

M. Abdul Aziz M. Saleh Jumaa, City University College of Ajman, UAE, [email protected]

Abstract: Perspectives of the early scholars of Islamic managing an account concurred that the arrangement of organization partnership in general and MuÃÃrabah (benefit sharing) specifically is the fundamental technique on which Islamic banks must depend in contributing their money related assets. On the other hand, I have discovered the truth of financing under the Islamic managing an account has digressed intensely from the methodology created by the early scholars. In actuality, these banks have received obligation based financing techniques and underestimated the routines for financing taking into account benefit and misfortune sharing. This adjustment in financing technique has contrarily influenced the notoriety and the desire tied with the monetary part of these banks. This Study paper focused on the reason behind the gap between theory and practice in Islamic finance so, I divided my study in two parts first I focus on the theory part of Islamic bank system, its components and features, then in second part I will express the practical part by disclose the relative distribution of Islamic financing methods in four famous Islamic banks. I choose a group of Asian Islamic banks as a model for my study through funds provided by these banks in the period from 2012 to 2014 analysis. After answering the Study question I can conclude that the gaps result from the misuse of the roles and norms of Maqasid Al-Shariah along with the diversion in the relatively distribution of the financial method. Key Words: Financing techniques, Islamic finance, Banks.

Government spending on infrastructure and its relationship with

economic growth -Evidence from Lagos State, Nigeria under Governor

Akinwunmi Ambode

Shakirat Adepeju Babatunde, University of Lagos, Nigeria , [email protected]

Abstract: The aim of this study is to investigate government spending on infrastructure and its relationship with economic growth in Nigeria. This study is based on Agency, New Public Management, Institutional, Economic growth and Keynesian theories. The research question is, ‘To what extent does government spending on infrastructure have relationship with Economic growth in Nigeria?’ Both primary and secondary data are used. For the primary data, a sample of two hundred and forty- two respondents are utilised for the study. Statistical random sampling was used for the sample selection. The secondary data comprise of actual annual spending on selected infrastructure and annual Gross Domestic Products for 2010 to 2015 for Lagos State Nigeria. The data analysis was done with One- Sample T-Test, t. Pearson rank coefficient of correlation, r and Descriptive statistics. The results indicate that spending on road and transport infrastructure have significant relationship with economic growth. However, there is an inverse, not significant relationship between spending on agriculture and economic growth. This study supports the principles in the theories examined. This study recommends that there should be more spending on agriculture to reduce hunger and improve citizens’ welfare. A major contribution to knowledge arising from this study is that although Keynesian theory presupposes that Government intervention can stabilize an economy especially during recession when there is little money to spend, but based on the results of this study, it is argued that government spending on infrastructure intervention must reach a sustainable threshold that sustains basic individual citizen’s welfare, before it could stabilize the economy, not only during recession but at all times. Keywords: Citizens’ welfare; Economic Growth; Government spending; Infrastructure, Keynesian theory; Nigeria.

Strategies for implementation of cloud systems in additive

manufacturing (3D printing) in Australia

Fawzy Soliman , University of Technology Sydney, Australia , [email protected]

Abstract: Additive manufacturing (AM) technologies have found many applications in product development, data visualization, rapid prototyping, and specialized manufacturing. The expansion of AM into production has significantly affected Industrial production roles resulting in considerable shift to the production methods and techniques. In addition the rise of cloud applications and their fro manufacturing have led AM manufacturers to consider new business models. The traditional models for production need to take into account the AM factors that could significantly reduce manufacturing throughput times improve performance for the manufactures and their associated supply chains entities. The success of such new technologies is dependent on many factors including the efficient management of resources including the production processes. Furthermore, recent research indicates that AM assets and resources can be utilised much more efficiently and effectively if the AM manufactures apply techniques for leveraging their resources to enhancing their management. The strategic role of the AM manufacturing in reducing manufacturing throughput times and improving performance is discussed in this paper. In addition, the drivers and implementation strategies for AM manufacturing are proposed. Keywords: Additive manufacturing, strategies, cloud systems, performance

Fawzy Soliman, University of Technology Sydney, Australia, [email protected]

Abstract: Current rise of interest in Additive Manufacturing (also known as 3D printing) coupled with recent advances in computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) have led many innovative manufacturers to consider undertaking significant investments in producing their products using Additive Manufacturing systems. In general, the aims of additive manufactures are to maintain or gain competitive advantages by embarking on innovative ways to produce products. Additive Manufacturing has been shown to reduce manufacturing times, improve productivity and ultimately improve performance. In addition, recent advances in digital technology and cloud systems highlight the importance of additive manufacturing for next generation innovative manufacturers. 3D printing processes are a complex combination of various processes used to make a three-dimensional object from digital files or images. The processes of converting digital images into material objects have become a major concern due to issues associated with the variety of techniques used and the technical standards employed. Additional factors related to effectiveness of the management techniques and models could contribute to the success or otherwise of additive manufacturing. Accordingly, this paper will explore the problems of integration of manufacturing systems through cloud systems; study how the severity of these problems relates to the success of additive manufacturing; propose a set of critical success factors (CSF) for the additive manufacturing with cloud systems; suggest hypotheses to study the relevance of these CSF. Keywords: 3D Printing, Additive manufacturing, Cloud systems, Critical Success factors.

An analysis of the English grammatical errors made by Abu Dhabi

University male freshmen at Zayed the Second Military College

Abbas Mohammed Ibrahim, Abu Dhabi University, [email protected]

Abstract: Based on a review of a carefully-designed research, where some of the most common

English syntactic mistakes made by our native Arabic-speaking university freshmen students of English as a second language are thoroughly and carefully discussed. The researchers casted a shadow on at least seven categories of errors which are distinguished and described verbal errors (the use of tense, phase, aspect, voice, verb formation, definite and indefinite articles), relative clauses (interlinguas errors, structural misrepresentation, simplification) adverbial clauses (comparison, purpose, result, concession, manner: sentence structure, articles (definite and indefinite) prepositions. It is concluded that most source of these common errors is mainly due to the influence of Arabic the native language, and that is clearly shown in processing English syntactic structures. Arabic speakers in general adopt certain strategies similar to those of first-language learners, including simplification and over generalization, (ERIC, 1996-Jan) English syntactic Errors by Arabic Speaking learners: Reviewed (Noor, Hashim H.). A number of desperate approaches to language, ranging from cognitive linguistics to stochastic implementations of optionally theory, have challenged the classical distinctions between knowledge of language .How realistic are the requirements and need of a National curriculum for the teaching of English in general and grammar in particular in primary stage. Abstract: This study aims to investigate and test empirically mediated effect of Issuer actions on the affecting of Profitability and Leverage toward stock prices at on the company that doing stock split listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange period 2005-2014. This research was conducted because the phenomena of price’s turmoil that occur in the Indonesia capital market. The Structural Equation Modeling by Amos Software 21.00 was used to analyze the data, and the result shows high goodness of fit while the simultaneous and individual tests generate significant result. The result of analysis shows that: (1) the Profitability give significantly positive influence to the Issuer Actions; (2) the Leverage give significantly positive influence to the Issuer Actions; (3) the Profitability give significantly positive influence to the stock prices; (4) the Leverage give significantly positive influence to the stock prices; (5) Issuer Actions give significantly positive influence to the stock prices Therefore, the mediated effect of Issuer Actions on the effects of Profitability and Leverage towards the Stocks prices has more strength compared to the direct effect of Profitability and Leverage towards the Stocks prices. Key Words Profitability, Leverage, Actions, Prices
