We are delighted to welcome: Mrs Janice Raffle as Head of Science. Dr Jane Harrison will be teaching English. Mrs Angharad Hughes-McSkimming (Mrs Hughes) will be teaching RE and PSHE. Ms Kelly Wells will be covering Mrs Dopheide’s absence in Drama. Mr Simon Coombes is our new Head of Games and Examinations Officer. Mrs Helen McGarrigle is teaching and Mr Andrew Cassin-Davies has become the teacher for the new 6th Form Centre. We also have a number of learning support assistants who have joined the team: Wendy Cull, Kimberley Cooke, Megan Lyons, Stevie Pryer, Corrina Hackney and Nicola Latter. Mr Pete Goodings has become Head of Maths and Mrs Gwen Goodings has become Head of English. NEW APPOINTMENTS AT APPLEFORD

O UTSTANDING PUPILS

The following was announced at Speech Day:

HEAD AND DEPUTY HEAD BOY AND G IRL

A new reception desk now stands in the school’s main entrance. Mrs Cooper has become the first point of contact for visitors and enquiries.

A new Boarding House has been purchased for the new 6th Form boy boarders at Appleford. Located just 2 minutes walk from the school gate on Elston Lane, Cedar House will house 5 pupils. Mrs Wedd who was previously the Houseparent for The Beeches Boarding House, has taken the position of Houseparent for Cedar

New 6th Form Centre arriving by crane

The 6th Form Centre arrived this Summer for the first intake of 6th form pupils at Appleford.

Tom Dyer has retained his title ‘National Show Jumping Champion’ for the 4th year running. Lottie Timms was a runner-up for her entry in British Wildlife Photographer of the Year and the Julian Gardner Photographic Awards. Well done to both of them and to all of our pupils for their wonderful achievements.

During the Summer Term, Year 10 pupils at Appleford were invited to put themselves forward for the position of Head Boy/Girl. Pupils had to write a formal application and then attend an interview with the Headmaster and Head of Lower School.
