In 4th grade, we have been
discussing motion, forces, and energy. In
groups, the students were given tape, pipe
insulation, a marble. Their objective was to get
their marble from one end of their tube to the
other. From there, they were given more difficult
tasks to complete. First two hills, then two loops,
lastly, two loops and a jump.

5th grade has been very busy lately in
the areas of Science and Social Studies. We completed our first Battle of the Brains experience. The students learned a lot as they completed extensive research and created an interactive learning environment for Science City. This was a great opportunity for students to work with Burns and McDonnell to learn about the engineering process of STEM. Students just finished a project on ancient civilizations and Native Americans. They really put forth a lot of effort and the results are AMAZING! Students researched and created authentic dwellings representing their chosen culture. Next up, 5th graders will learn the steps of the scientific method and create their very own science experiment.

Swings Anew There once was a student from PCES, who loved to
soar high on the swings. “If I were an animal, in my dreams I would be, a bird
that would fly with broad wings.” “I’ve got dibs on the swing” she would shout from the
door, But would never take flight as the school needed
more... Her mommy and daddy gave cash to the school's
PTO, To build more swings so up, up, UP she could go! Now she will yell, “I love to fly!” (on these swings
anew) And her happiness comes with a smile and thank-you!
Upcoming events
Holiday Shop is a chance for students to use their hard-earned money to shop for gifts priced at $1 each for family, friends, pets, etc. The volunteers will wrap gifts and send the students home with their presents to put under the tree. Students can shop this event on Dec 7 & 8. We are looking for volunteers to help students shop and to wrap so sign-up on the PTO facebook page if you can devote some time to this very celebrated event, the students LOVE it!
Be sure to check with your teacher or room parent to see how you can help. The teachers are under extraordinary exceptions this year as we wait for the new school, Timber Sage, to come online. The class size is well over what the teachers are used to, there is still the same number of copiers and laminator (one) as there were with fewer teachers in the past. If you can devote some of your time during the week to helping your teacher in any way, please do so. They are very much in need of parent/volunteer support this year.
Don’t forget the next PTO meeting will be held Monday, Dec 11 at 6:30 pm in the PCES library. As always, free childcare is provided.
