Monroe County Cloverlink July 2019
Hello Everyone,
I hope everyone is
enjoying their
summer so far. Well
Fair time is upon us,
just seems like
yesterday that last
year’s fair ended,
where has the time
gone! Fair time was
one of the all-time highlights of my summers,
with showing my animals, spending time with
friends and just being on the fairgrounds.
Summer was always full of many activities,
family vacations, summer programs for both 4-
H and FFA, sports, and even summer jobs.
Everyone is always so busy during the summer
time trying to take part in every little piece,
looking back at all the years I was in this
amazing program it has given me so much that
will help me in my future. I remember
participating in clover camp, foods review,
summer camp and fair over the many years as
a 4-H member. These summer events have
given lifelong friends, confidence,
responsibility, and so much more. Each one of
our summer programs and the Fair provide
our youth with each of these items. I hope our
youth can take part is as many of these
activities and get as much out of the
experiences as possible. I enjoyed every
moment as a 4-Her and would not change it
for the world. I hope you all will enjoy the rest
of your summer. Good luck to all
exhibitors and have an amazing
fair!

Cloverbud Corner What is more fun than blowing and popping bubbles in the summer time. Here is a very simple and easy recipe for creating your very own bubbles and bubble wand to made GIANT bubbles. Here is also the link to the webpage for more instructions: https://happyhooligans.ca/homemade-giant-bubbles/
Ingredients
Procedure
Make your own wand for your giant bubbles by using two drinking straws, and a length of yarn that was 6 to 8 times longer than the length of one straw. Thread the yarn through the straws, tie a knot, and you’re good to go!
• 6 cups water (distilled is best but tap wa-ter is fine)
• 1/2 cup blue Dawn dish detergent • 1/2 cup corn starch
• 1 tbsp baking powder (not baking soda) • 1 tbsp Glycerin
• Dissolve Cornstarch Dissolve cornstarch in the water, stirring really well.
• Add Remaining Ingredients Stir in the rest off the ingredients, being very careful not to create a lot of froth.
• Let it Sit Allow your bubble mixture to sit for at least an hour, stirring occasionally when you see the cornstarch settling to the bottom
