Siwar choir enthrals Qatar music lovers

In a charming evening, a talented choir of Siwar performed in Doha in an annual music programme organ-ised by the Katara Cultural Village,

under the patronage of the Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage H E Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari.

Siwar – Arabic for bracelet – is Qatar’s leading youth choir established by Al Jazeera Children’s Channel (JCC). Siwar provides the opportunity for talented youngsters to express themselves through singing and to explore the rich Arabic herit-age through its diverse musical repertoire,

which has been revived with a modern musical arrangement.

Siwar is the gate to our musical culture. The Siwar Choir comprised of 30 musi-

cians led by Maestro Nabih Al Khatib one of the leading Arab singers, who mesmer-ised the audience with his songs full of sweet melodies. The choir also performed classics of legendary Arab singers like Fairouz.

The choir dazzled the audience with per-formances of English, French and Turkish songs, re-enforcing the global perception that music is a universal language.

The Turkish songs were also part of the celebrations of the Qatar-Turkish 2015 cultural year celebra-tions. A Turkish band performed at the event with three guitarists, who performed the traditional Turkish musical styles that have a lot of simi-larities with Arab music.

Saad bin Saleh Al Hudaifi, the Acting director of Al Jazeera Children’s Channel (JCC), said that what distinguishes this year’s per-formance was the fact that it was being conducted under the patron-age of the Minister of Culture, who has been keen at facilitating and ensuring the success of the event which falls under the cultural events for the Qatar-Turkish 2015 cultural year.

“The Siwar Choir has had won-derful performances in Arabic and other languages like English, French, and Turkish which demonstrate their versatility,” he said. “Al Jazeera is committed to supporting the Arab children to develop their music talents

and become successful musicians.”Al Khatib, who led the choir, said

that the performance of Siwar was as good as any professional musi-cal performance, adding that all the choir members were having extra ordinary capabilities to succeed as professional musicians.

He also said that Siwar intended to preserve the Eastern lyrics heritage and this had been well demonstrated in the way the Turkish trio performed with guitarists and other musical instruments winning the admiration of the audience.

Al-Jazeera Children’s Channel has launched the initiative of Siwar Choir with the aim of supporting talented Arab children from the age of 9 to 16 and developing their singing abilities under the supervision of professional musicians. Through joining Siwar, children get the chance to discover the value of the rich Arabic music leg-acy through re-arranging some of its popular songs in a modern attractive way. The Peninsula

Siwar Choir aims to:

• Gathering and training talented Arab youths with no musical experience.

• Performing live on stage, singing in groups and solos, accompanied by local and international guest artists and professional musicians from Arab and other countries.

• Meticulously researching and selecting a reper-toire from the vast collection of internationally renowned Arabic songs which can be sung by children and appreciated by the adults. The music is rearranged by acclaimed composers and tailored specifically to suit the choir.

FASHION & BEAUTY

BY IMOGEN FOX

Astrange thing happened to me at the mens-wear shows in Paris this January. In the daydream-ing time somewhere

between browsing Instagram and wait-ing for the models to appear, I started mentally shopping for a new skirt. Not so weird (even for the dedicated trou-ser wearer that I am), given that I was surrounded by people wearing Very Nice Clothes. What was unusual was that I wanted a menswear skirt. Not just any men’s skirt, naturally. It was a sand-coloured one worn over army surplus-inspired ankle trousers by Dries Van Noten that convinced me I needed a knee-length hem. Immediately.

So what was it about the menswear skirts that won me over in the way that womenswear hasn’t been able to for several years? The answer is worthy of an eye roll, I know, but the truth is, the mood feels right. Because there is a unisex trend happening – at least in the upper echelons of fashion – that makes it feel as if gender is disappearing.

It isn’t hard to find evidence of fash-ion melting gendered clothes into one wardrobe that appeals to both sexes. First up there’s Jonathan Anderson, a man who in real life likes to wear the (infinitely do-able) unisex uniform of crewneck jumper, mid-blue jeans and trainers. On the catwalk he has done more to blur the boundaries than any other designer. When he first started putting men in pussy-bow blouses, there was muttering about bound-ary pushing and it was dismissed as experimental London fashion by some factions. But his appointment to Loewe gave his point of view gravitas. So when new boy at Gucci Alessandro Michele sent out his models in chiffon and lace with long hair, there was already a framework in place.

One that Hedi Slimane has also helped to shape with his penchant for using skinny rock boys and girls wearing interchangeable rock’n’roll clothes and Cuban boots. At Givenchy, Riccardo Tisci showed knitted skirts styled over trousers. Meanwhile Mrs Prada – the living, breathing personification of the word zeitgeist – sent out invitations to

view her new collections (notice the plural). She explained that she wanted to show fall menswear and pre-fall womenswear blended together as one because working on menswear always left her wondering how she could apply the same ideas to women.

Retailers are attempting to mon-etise the mood. Selfridges recently announced that it was getting rid of gendered floors and would just have three floors of fashion merchandised together so that customers could shop according to an expression of “self”. So high-minded, guys. And, alas,

two weeks after I had berated the JW Anderson sales assistant for not stock-ing a blue and white striped menswear shirt I wanted badly on its womenswear rails.

Already advertising is doing its best to push this idea of gender-blending dress-ing. Cara Delevingne is photographed in a gang of boys wearing suits in the DKNY menswear 2015 campaign, while Julia Roberts in the Givenchy adverts makes the best case I’ve ever seen for gender-neutral tailoring.

The question is not so much if we will be convinced into unisex dressing but

why this is happening now. Culturally we’ve been here before. In no particular order we’ve had Tilda Swinton wear-ing androgynous suits, Bobby Gillespie wearing chiffon and a girly hair parting, Annie Hall and, of course, the maestro himself, David Bowie. My best guess is that the mood is informed by aes-thetic rather than cultural or intellectual reasons (sorry, Selfridges). In recent seasons, there has been a gradual drift together for men’s and womenswear in terms of taste. Womenswear has lost its spiky edges, with trainers and Céline-esque trousers dominating. Equally menswear is busy getting its flounce on. This is perhaps the main point of the 2015 take on unisex – that menswear is becoming more feminine and not the other way around.

Fashion loves oddness, and it likes to shock. But the strange thing about seeing skirts live on the menswear cat-walk (and you’ll have to trust me on this) was how manly they looked. This seems key to me if this trend is ever to take off. Beause much as I love hearing that my male comrades on the front row are sneaking into Zara to buy printed blouses, and I’m fantasising about menswear skirts, I think we all know that, despite the buzz, we are still quite a way from peak gender blur in the real world. The Guardian

Unisex trend blurring gender boundaries

This year’s menswear shows were all about feminisation. JW Anderson, Hedi Slimane, Givenchy, and Prada all helped capture the gender-blending mood, and Selfridges went the whole hog and decided to merge its women’s and men’s departments. It’s a look we’ve seen before, but will it go mainstream this time round?

Cinderella enchanted audiences this week-end, racking up a royal $70.1m to lead the domestic box office and

a massive $132m globally. The adaptation of the classic fairy tale

follows Walt Disney Studios’ strategy of raiding its library of animated favorites to refashion as live action blockbust-ers — an approach that yielded such successes as Maleficent and Alice in Wonderland, and one the studio plans to employ on Dumbo and Beauty and the Beast.

“From a company perspective and a public perspective, fairy tales are a part of our DNA,” said Dave Hollis, Disney’s distribution chief. “This is decidedly something that Disney does and does well.”

Cinderella’s popularity left Liam Neeson’s latest action-adventure, Run All Night, huffing and puffing at the finish line. The Warner Bros release pulled in a lackluster $11m from 3,171 theatres, lower than pre-release tracking which suggested a debut in the $15m range. The audience for the story of a father protecting his son (Joel Kinnaman) from mob hit men was 52 percent female and 86 percent over the age of 25.

Warner Bros domestic distribution chief Dan Fellman said he was particu-larly surprised that the film attracted more women than to men. He added that the picture seemed to play bet-ter on the East Coast in cities like Washington and New York than it did on the West Coast.

“I’m a little disappointed in the results,” said Fellman.

“We just got off to a slow start...we felt it should have been a stronger second place, but at this point we’re hoping we get a good multiple and a great hold.”

It’s possible that Neeson, who was recently seen making short work of European bad guys in January’s Taken 3, has simply been brandishing the gun a bit too much of late. Run All Night cost $50m to produce, so it will need to attract foreign crowds if it wants to break even.

Cinderella opened across 3,845 the-atres in North America and cost $95m to produce. Opening weekend crowds were 68 percent female, 66 percent families and 31 percent comprised of moviegoers under the age of 12.

“This was a strong protagonist and an aspirational character,” said Hollis. “We took the high bar reached by the classic animated film and built on it. This will now be something that com-plements the original.”

The film wasn’t in 3D, but it did get a nice boost from other premium formats. Imax represent 7 percent of Cinderella’s gross and premium large

formats comprised 8 percent of the box office results.

Cinderella couldn’t match the $116.1m debut of Alice in Wonderland, but it did surpass the $69.4m premiere of Maleficent.” That’s impressive con-sidering that despite featuring Cate Blanchett and Downton Abbey’s Lily James, Cinderella lacked a star on the level of Johnny Depp or Angelina Jolie to bring in crowds. It also cost half of the roughly $200m each that Disney spent producing those fantasies.

Cinderella was a juggernaut overseas picking up an estimated $62.4m, $25m of which came from China.

The film opened in about 60 percent of the international marketplace, includ-ing such major territories as Russia, Italy, Mexico and Germany.

In the holdover realm, Kingsman: The Secret Service has now crossed the $100m mark. The Fox action-adven-ture captured third place with $6.2m, pushing its stateside haul to $107.4m. Focus, Will Smith’s heist romance, snagged fourth position on the charts with $5.8m. The Warner Bros release has made $44m after three weeks in theatres.

Fifth place went to Fox Searchlight’s The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel which held steady with $5.7m from 2,022 theatres in its sophomore frame, dropping a mere 33 percent and

bringing its total to $18.1m.In limited release, Radius-TWC’s It

Follows impressed with $163,453 from four locations, for a per-screen average of $40,863. The horror film has enjoyed unusually strong reviews for the genre, with critics handing out a 95 percent “fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Among other art house releases, Seymour: An Introduction, Ethan Hawke’s look at a pianist and teacher debuted on two screens where it made $26,320 for a per-screen average of $13,160.

Not everyone was as lucky as It Follows. Official numbers have yet to be released but it appears that Adam Sandler’s critically panned The Cobbler will eke out a meagre $21,00 from 17 theatres.

After two weeks of lagging behind 2014’s box office results, Cinderella helped lift domestic ticket sales more than 16 percent over the year-ago period to top out at $133m. The key was providing some fresh all-ages fare to a marketplace that had been dominated by adult films such as Fifty Shades of Grey and Focus.

“It’s been an R-rated world at the box office and for families this was a dream come true,” said Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst at Rentrak. “They were sitting on sidelines and waiting for a family friendly weekend.” Reuters

Govinda, who is known for his dance moves, is making his TV comeback as a judge with DID Super Moms. The

star comedian says he is open to more TV shows if he gets something good to give to the audience.

“I’m game for everything which is cor-rect and good. But yes, the show should make me feel that I have something to give to the audience. Then only will I be able to say ‘yes’ to TV shows,” the actor, who was in the capital during the launch of the dance reality show, said.

Govinda’s last appearance on TV was as a host on Jeeto Chappar Phaad Ke in 2001. On DID Super Moms, Govinda will judge the Zee TV show along with cho-reographers Geeta Kapur and Terence Lewis.

Asked about the reason of giving a nod to DID Super Moms, the actor says his mother was the reason.

“Mother has always been special to me. My mother is very responsible for whatever success I have achieved today, and I’m sure many people will accept that too. A mother is one of the most beautiful creatures made by god. I think this was one of the reasons why I said ‘yes’ to this show,” he said.

Geeta is equally excited about working

this field and it’s an honour to work with him through this show. I remember that after watching his dance moves, I was dying to work with him and I got this opportunity during an award function but that was a brief encounter. Today I can say that god always has better plans,” she said.

Starting on March 28, the new sea-son has plenty of things to delight dance enthusiasts. Essel Vision Productions Ltd, creative and production studio of Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL) are the producers of the show, to be hosted by TV actor Karan Wahi.

“Having given ‘umeed’ (hope to scores of mothers across the country with the immensely successful first season of DID Super Moms — a hope that there is more to life than the daily rigmarole of house-hold responsibilities and that they too can pursue their own dreams and hidden tal-ents, we are back with the second sea-son of DID Super Moms,” said Pradeep Hejmadi, business head of Zee TV.

The new season will be a 11-week series starting with the auditions of the show, moving into week-on-week elimi-nations with the top 15 contestants from across the country. IANS

After lending her voice to two successful songs — Joganiyan and Sannata — this year, Shruti Haasan has sung

a song picturised on herself for her film Gabbar Is Back. What’s more incredible is that she recorded the song in one hour without any break.

“Shruti was shooting in the village of Pollachi for one of her Tamil films. In between her film schedules and her numerous brand shoots, she had just half a day to complete this recording. After a two-hour car ride to Coimbatore and then a flight to Mumbai, Shruti landed and went straight into the recording

studio,” a source said.“She had prepped the song in advance

and had worked on the voicing so that she can maximise her output at the stu-dio. And that’s exactly what happened. The music director got what he wanted from her for the entire song within an hour, post which she took a flight back to resume her shoot in Pollachi,” he said.

Directed by Krish Jagarlamudi, the film featuring Akshay Kumar in the lead, is the remake of Tamil film Ramanna.

The film also features Prakash Raj and Sonu Sood in important roles, while Kareena Kapoor and Chitrangada Singh will appear in cameo roles.

Actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar welcomed his wife and star hair-stylist Adhuna on micro-

blogging site Twitter. “Please wel-come @AdhunaAkhtar to Twitter...on her personal account, finally,” tweeted Farhan, who has always maintained that Adhuna has been his support system. Adhuna also took to social media platform to thank her family and friends for a “warm welcome”.

“Thank you to all for the warm welcome,” she shared. The couple have two daughters together.

SRK keen to write

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan is so mesmerised with the beauty of a city in Croatia that it makes him want to write. The ‘Bollywood Badshah’ took to micro-blogging site Twitter to express his views

on the city as its beauty encapsulated him into a different world. “How beautiful is Dubrovnik...makes me want to write,” SRK shared.

The actor has turned all his focus on Maneesh Sharma’s directorial “Fan” and is also regaling the small screen audience through his reality TV show “India Poochega Sabse Shaana Kaun?”.

HEALTH

BY NORA KRUG

Over the past 20-plus years, I’ve developed an unhealthy relationship with my work-out gadgets. It started with

a Walkman, then escalated to a jumpy Discman, just about every version of the iPod and finally an iPhone with music synced to the Nike+ app. As songs blasted through my headphones, I pushed myself for the inspirational mile-marker callouts and drove myself harder to hear Olympic stars like Sanya Richard Ross congratulate me: “Great job getting out there!” I compared my weekly pace charts, devised playlists that would motivate me on hills (yes, they almost always included “Born to Run”) and faithfully analyzed the digital record of my achievements.

Then my app crashed. At first I was upset, but in my frantic efforts to fix the problem, I came face-to-face with an uncomfortable truth: Data and music had become a crutch. Did I really need them to get through my workout — to make it count? The only way to find out was to get rid of my devices. No music, no apps, no watch. I’d run the same 5K route and check only the kitchen clock when I left and when I returned. At the gym, I’d leave the headphones at home and turn off the data screen. And the rest of my weekly workouts would include outdoor swims and yoga. In other words, the unplugged workout.

Given the array of fitness technology now available to help make exercise more entertaining, efficient and informative — smartphone apps, activity trackers, tricked-out watches like the new Apple Watch, which gives you “credit” for the simple act of standing up from your chair and moving — some people might question the value of going retro. (What’s next for me, eating like a cavewoman?) But also I wonder: Have we all gotten a bit too dependent on tech feedback?

Perhaps, says research psychologist Larry Rosen. “Workout technology can be valuable,” says Rosen, author of the book iDisorder: Understanding our Obsession With Technology and Overcoming Its Hold on Us, but if you are constantly checking your stats, “then that is going to create anxiety — and that’s the last thing you want to do when exercising.” Exercise is supposed to produce endorphins and dopamine, chemicals that make you feel good, not anxiety neurotransmitters like cortisol. “Why would you want to be stressed when you are trying to do something that is supposed to be good for you?” he asks.

Even more potentially damaging, says Rosen, a professor at California State University at Dominguez Hills, is the social media component of some apps — posting your run on Facebook, for example, and relying on your friends to cheer for you virtually. Making your personal workout public sets you up for disappointment, he says: “What if you posted your run and nobody liked it? Does that mean you got nothing out of it?”

Working out wired can also pose safety hazards. Wearing headphones decreases your awareness of traffic, dogs and other potential dangers.

Even taking your eyes off the road to check your watch means you’re not paying attention to the present, and that increases risk.

Those little app rewards “might also tempt people to push too hard when they should be listening to their body and not their iPhone,” says Jo Zimmerman, a trainer and instructor of kinesiology at the University of Maryland. Exercise tech, she says “is a double-edged sword. For some people, technology is the exact reason to get off the couch and for others it’s what makes them too competitive.”

Even running guru Hal Higdon, who has worked with developers to create training apps, says that while technology can help the goal-oriented or first-time runner, it can also “destroy our workouts, taking us out of our bodies.” When he was researching the effects of running on the body for his book Marathon: The Ultimate Training Guide, he says he used a heart monitor for feedback on his runs near Lake Michigan in Indiana. When the book was done, however, he “cast away” the device, he said, “because I would rather focus on the beauty of the park and listen to the lapping of waves on the shore.”

Others prefer the sound of a

companion’s voice. Deborah Brooks, the chapter leader of Moms Run This Town in McLean, Virginia, says that “when we run together as a group I enjoy the company of friends and don’t feel like I need music to push me.”

Brian Beary, a journalist in Washington, says that he gave up running with music four years ago and now typically uses only a stopwatch (with a phone in his pocket for emergencies). Last month, he says, “I reached a goal I set myself around the time I stopped running with gadgets: running a marathon in under three hours.”

As for me, I’m not breaking any personal records yet, but I am discovering the less tangible benefits of exercise. Sure, getting out there that first day without my phone was hard. (Even harder was the elliptical without music.) But now that I’ve been up those hills a few times — humming “Born to Run” to myself — I’m beginning to miss the technology less and less. I can hear my breath and the sound of my feet. I am more aware of how my body is moving and of the cars and dogs along the path. Birds provide the music. And just because I don’t record my workouts for posterity doesn’t mean they don’t count. In fact, they matter even more.

Is technology spoiling your workout?

Flexible work schedules aren’t just more convenient, they can really make a difference in the way we feel and for

our long-term health, a study reiterates. In today’s fast life, our daily schedules often don’t match our bodies’ natural rhythms. This causes a ‘social jetlag’ as we lose sleep.

The condition can be a particular problem for shift workers, who work into the night or on a shifting schedule. “A ‘simple’ re-organ-isation of shifts according to chronotype allowed workers to sleep more on workday nights,” said Till Roenneberg of the Ludwig-Maximilian-University in Germany.

“As a consequence, they were also able to sleep less on their free days due to a decreased need for compensating an accu-mulating sleep loss. This is a double-win situ-ation,” Roenneberg added. The researchers got the chance to implement their ideas about sleep and work schedules in a real-world factory setting.

The factory workers were assigned to an early, late, or intermediate chronotype based on their normal sleep patterns. The researchers then implemented a chrono-type-adjusted (“CTA”) shift schedule.

Morning people were never made to work

late and night owls were never forced to get up early for work. With those adjusted schedules, people felt more satisfied with the sleep they did get and experienced slight improvements in their general well-being. It also reduced social jetlag — the difference between the midpoint of workers’ sleep on work versus free days — by one hour. While the new findings weren’t exactly a surprise, Roenneberg said, it was still “utterly satisfy-ing to find that theory actually works in the real and ‘dirty’ world”.

The findings were reported in Current Biology. IANS

TECHNOLOGY

BY HANNAH JANE PARKINSON

Passwords: easily forgotten, but also easily guessed. It’s a bitter irony that minutes can be spent racking brains trying

to remember whether a required secu-rity question answer is a pet’s name, first school or place of birth – meanwhile a cyber-criminal is merrily typing in a person’s favourite colour and relieving bank accounts of hard-earned wages.

Well, now Yahoo might have made the process easier – at least when it comes to accessing email.

The Californian tech giant is rolling out “on-demand” email passwords, based around phone notifications, and eliminating entirely the need to memo-rise a fixed password.

Tired of forgetting your password? You don’t need one any more, says Yahoo

China’s Li Ning Co Ltd is team-ing up with Chinese smart-phone maker Xiaomi to

produce a new generation of “smart” running shoes this year, in the sports brand’s latest effort to revive its wan-ing fortunes.

Li Ning, backed by private equity powerhouse TPG Capital and Singapore wealth fund GIC, warned in January that it expects to post its third consecutive full-year loss, as it grapples with a restructuring, bloated inventories and slowing demand fol-lowing the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

Li Ning’s efforts to recapture its glory days by appealing to a younger generation have been evident in its product design and high-profile mar-keting campaigns. In 2013, it signed a multi-million dollar sponsorship deal with NBA basketball superstar Dwayne Wade.

Li Ning said its partnership with Huami Technology, the fitness wear-able company behind the Mi band and part of the Xiaomi ecosystem, is the first collaboration between sports and “smart” technology in China.

“We have chosen to collaborate with the Mi band because of Huami Technology’s strength in “smart” wearable products,” Li Ning said in a statement on Monday. “We hope to use this opportunity to provide professional “smart” running shoes to running enthusiasts in China at an affordable price.”

“Smart” chips are to be placed in the soles of Li Ning running shoes. The “smart” running shoes will be connected to a Xiaomi mobile app, allowing runners to keep track of their progress and results, analyse their form, and monitor their achieve-ments. Reuters

Seeking to extend its range of secure mobile devices, BlackBerry Ltd said it was

launching a high-security tablet, developed with International Business Machines Corp and Samsung Electronics Co Ltd.

The SecuTABLET, based on Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S 10.5 and being presented by BlackBerry unit Secusmart at tech fair CeBIT 2015 in Germany, reflects the Canadian company’s stress on secure connections for governments and businesses as it seeks to preserve a niche market after a drubbing in recent years at the hands of emerging smartphone makers such as Apple Inc.

“Security is ingrained in every part of BlackBerry’s portfolio, which includes voice and data encryption

solutions,” said Dr Hans-Christoph Quelle, chief executive officer of Secusmart GmbH, in a statement on the new device.

The device was undergoing certification by the German Federal Office for Information Security for secure rating, the statement said, adding that the new tablet used the same security technology as the Secusmart Security Card.

“Working alongside IBM and Samsung, we have added the last link in the chain of the Federal Security Network. Subject to certification of the SecuTABLET, German government agencies will have a new way to access BlackBerry’s most secure and complete communications network in the world,” Quelle said.

Yahoo Mail now offers a service simi-lar to “two-step verification”, a security measure employed by other email pro-viders, but the difference is the removal of the first step.

Two step verification works by a user logging in with their usual fixed password, after which the email pro-vider sends a unique code to their mobile phone, which is then entered on the login screen, allowing the user to access their email account.

Yahoo’s new security process will remove the need for users to enter a fixed password first, and instead just send a four-letter password to a user’s phone via text.

Unveiling the service at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas, Yahoo’s vice president of product man-agement for consumer platforms Dylan Casey said: “This is the first step to eliminating passwords. I don’t think we as an industry has done a good enough job of putting ourselves in the shoes of the people using our products.”

A blog post written by the compa-ny’s director of product manager, Chris Stoner, explains the steps:

1) Sign in to your Yahoo.com account.

2) Click on your name at the top right corner to go to your account information page.

3) Select “Security” in the left bar.4) Click on the slider for

“On-demand passwords” to opt-in.5) Enter your phone number and

Yahoo will send you a verification code.

6) Enter the code and voila!

The “on-demand” password service is opt-in and currently only available in the US.

Also announced at the festival was Yahoo’s forthcoming project on end-to-end encryption. Based on Google’s alpha Chrome PGP encryption plugin, Yahoo hopes to make the service avail-able in autumn 2015.

How to play Kakuro:The kakuro grid, unlike in sudoku, can

be of any size. It has rows and columns,

and dark cells like in a crossword. And,

just like in a crossword, some of the

dark cells will contain numbers. Some

cells will contain two numbers.

However, in a crossword the numbers

reference clues. In a kakuro, the

numbers are all you get! They denote
