Course Description The eight-hour lecture and hands-on lab/clinical course is designed to provide the dental assistant with the knowledge, principles and skills to perform coronal polishing on patients in your office under the direct supervision of a licensed dentist. This course meets the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners requirements for coronal polishing for TSBDE Rule §114.5.
Prerequisites required for this course: (1) Letter from dentist verifying/acknowledging participant has two
years of dental-assisting experience.(2) Current CPR certification.

Course Description Older adults make up one of the fastest-growing segments of the world population. No matter the age, we and our patients still feel like and want to live like our young selves with our teeth fully functional. The goal of this course is to provide the participant an understanding of prevalent oral conditions and concerns affecting older patients. This course includes assessment strategies and therapies to manage these prevalent conditions and help patients maintain his/her teeth for a lifetime. Topics include gingivitis, xerostomia, erosion, caries and dentin hypersensitivity.
