Naruko OnsenNaruko Onsen together with Iizaka Onsen (Fukushima Prefecture) and Akiu Onsen (Miyagi Prefecture) form the Big Three Onsens of Oushuu. Naruko Hot Spring Village consists of five hot spring areas of different characteristics.
Koganezaki Furofushi OnsenLocated by the seaside, the onsen pool here seems to merge with the ocean. Enjoying the outdoors in this onsen is a must-try. At sunset, the onsen is reserved for guests staying at the hotel.
Nyuto Onsen Nyuto Onsen is made up of a cluster of 7 onsen ryokans found at the foot of Akita Prefecture’s Mt. Nyuto. Each ryokan has a unique hot spring characteristic, with the “Tsurunoyu” being the most famous.
Kusatsu OnsenKusatsu is one of Japan’s Top Three Onsens, boasting the country’s largest volume of gush-ing hot spring water. The nostalgic hot spring street here centers on the “yubatake”, or Hot Spring Field.
Echigo Yuzawa Onsen This is said to be the setting for the novel “Snow Country” by Nobel Prize for Literature recipient Yasunari Kawabata. Here, onsen therapy is avail-able at all hotels and ryokans.
Zao OnsenZao Onsen is one of Yamagata Prefecture’s largest onsen resorts. The strongly acidic sulfuric spring here revitalizes the skin and is hence known as the “Beauty’s Bath”. Experience a communal onsen bath at Zao’s main onsen street.

falling snowflakes, with a view of snow-capped surroundings is like
heaven on earth.
Akiu OnsenAround 30 minutes from Sen-dai City by car is Akiu Onsen. Most of the onsen ryokans here allow day-trip visitors to use their onsens and facilities.
