On Friday 22nd Jan 2016 we had an award ceremony to recognize some of the most outstanding students in different areas. We awarded the best students in club activities, sports and extracurricular activities, academic performance and behavioral considerations. Some of our talented students also entertained our teachers and students by playing some favorite tunes on the guitar and saxophone. We encourage and shall continue

giving similar awards each term as an appreciation and encouragement efforts to our students.

According to a Ministry of Education officials’ report following a standards assessment exercise,

Light Academy is one of the best schools in the country. This high rating of Light Academy is a vote of confidence, a clear indication of the school’s effective management and superb organization. We thank our Parents/guardians, teachers and the school administration for making this possible.

The year 11, 12 and 13 have had three university fairs. The first one took place at Nairobi Academy where many representatives from U.K universities from U.K. talked to them especially about entry requirements into different aca-demic programmes at

different universities. We were also invited for a second university fair at Brookhouse Inter-national School where candidates were given more information on requirements for entry into different Australian Universities. On 24th March 2016, ANA-TOLIA education centre

also had a fair for the best universities from Turkey whose represent-atives were at hand to talk to our candidates. We will continue to expose the students to various openings avail-able after their gradua-tion from high school.

We have come to the end of the term without major serious discipline issues.

We sincerely thank you, our parents, for your unwavering support and cooperation in guiding the students towards the right morals.

The indiscipline issues in which students have greatly improved this term include wearing wrong shoes and jackets, unkempt hair and

tardiness. In connection with this, we express our sincere gratitude for the invaluable contribution of vibrant Guidance and Counselling Department due to their continued support.

We kindly request you, once again, for your support in ensuring the

schools are tidy and neat all the time. We request that you also help in ensuring that if your son/daughter has unkempt hair, is neatly trimmed before they report for

next term.

We urge our parents to continue monitoring their

sons/daughters so that we may together bring up socially responsible,

academically competent and morally upright individuals.

Finally we would like to thank you and students who have been following updates on behavior on our school information system, CoolSIS. We urge those who have not started doing so to please begin in order to be able to monitor their son’s/ daughter’s discipline record/ status.

conditions. We also learnt about shooting in natural light, and modifying various controls such as aperture, shutter, speed and ISO. Next term we shall be delving into digital photographic effects and photo manipulations.

The club organized a visit to Huruma Children’s Home which was aimed at developing the need to share what we have with the less fortunate members of our society. This was a great success, thanks to the overwhelm-

ART CLUB The Light International School Art Club is not just a club. It’s an environment. A home where students are free to express themselves at different levels of creativity. Every artist needs an outlet through which to express themselves. It’s how we are

wired, lack of these outlets creates a bottled up frustra-tion that goes deeper than most people realize. And this is the main thing that the art club has been able to provide. We avail opportunities for anyone to come and experi-ence the freedom to exercise of being creativity- a therapy environment where they can come after a long day. This term we have been able to achieve a lot. We have also managed to showcase a few of our works of art at a small exhibition. This year is the year we hope break obscurity and reveal to the world what we are made of. We are planning our own exhibition that shall rotate in three

different gallery spaces as we take our rightful place in the world of art and make our voices heard loud and clear. We desire to be a voice of inspiration to every other young artist out there who is trying to get their foot-ing in the creative endeavor that art is.
