Cylinder outlet cooling water temperature

sensor

1 Background

The purpose of this spare part notice is to assist you in informing about the new versionof the sensors formonitoring the cylinder outlet cooling water temperature and which parts have to be ordered in order to install iton the Sulzer ZA40S engine. The new sensor replaces the old one (see warning on chapter 3); the old one

will not be available in the future anymore.

1.1 Introduction

In order to improve the quality and reliability of the temperature sensor (PT 100) installed on the HTcooling water cylinder output pipe, the old NORIS PT 100 sensor (figure 1) has been replaced witha new type of sensor as showed in the figure 2:

The comparison between the 2 sensors evidences the following characteristics:

Working limit temperature increases from 120 to 220C.

Working pressure increases from 10 to 60 bars.

Sensor is flying-lead. The FAST-ON connectors on the sensor have been eliminated.

Crimp pins type connector replaces the soldered type.

The sensors will be supplied complete with cable and connector.

2 Application

This spare part notice concerns Sulzer ZA40S engines where the sensors for monitoring the cylinder coolingwater outlet temperature (coding from 16T22A1 to 16T22A18) are installed.

3 Note

Warning: The old sensor pocket is not compatible with the new sensor. For this reason wheneverthe new sensor is installed for the first time the new pocket has to be installed as well.
