K-5 Acadience Reading (BOY 2021-2022)September 2021

Blue = Above Benchmark / Likely to Need Core SupportGreen = At Benchmark / Likely to Need Core SupportYellow = Below Benchmark / Likely to Need Strategic SupportRed = Well Below Benchmark / Likely to Need Intensive Support

We are addressing student deficits using a variety of strategies including softwareprograms sanctioned by the USBE, science of reading trainings, pull-out intervention withevidence-based programs, and teacher usage of intervention blocks in the PHES masterschedule.

Students who flag as needing intensive support are included in Reading Interventionpull out instruction (1:1 and small groups, based on need), run by our reading interventionists.Additionally students in this group are provided time and access for using the various readingsoftware programs (Read Naturally, Lexia, Imagine Reading) all of which are adaptive andindividualized.

Students who flag as needing strategic support are provided with classroom interventionsupports from their teacher (e.g. Fundations Tier 2, Heggerty, fluency and/or comprehensionstrategies, encoding to support decoding strategies), as well as the reading softwareprograms. In some cases, students may receive pull out instruction from interventionists, depending on need, space available, and student background.

Students who flag as needing core support are typically provided with classroom Tier 1instruction from their teacher, as well as the options in reading software programs.

In summary, Acadience Reading data at PHES from BOY to EOY generally improvesignificantly. PHES met and exceeded all three goals in the Early Literacy plan from 2020-2021which included:

Goal 1 (State goal): PHES will meet the state growth goal for literacy by achieving at least60% of students in grades 1-3 making typical or better progress on the AcadienceReading assessment.

Actual Achievement in 2020-2021: 77% of students made typical or better progress onAcadience Reading.

Goal 2 (Local goal): By June 4, 2021, Providence Hall Elementary will increase thepercentage of students at benchmark and above on the Acadience Reading Readingcomposite from BOY to EOY by 7% in Kindergarten by providing systematic,evidence-based phonics and phonemic awareness instruction through the Wilson ReadingFundations and Heggerty programs in all Kindergarten classrooms as Tier 1 instruction to fill inspecific skill gaps and to improve the percentage of students moving out of below andwell-below benchmark.

Actual Achievement in 2020-2021: The percentage of students in kindergarten whoscored at or above benchmark from BOY to EOY increased by 27% (from 39% blue and greento 66% blue and green).

Goal 3 (Local goal): By June 4, 2021, Providence Hall Elementary will decrease thepercentage of students in Grade 2 who score well-below benchmark from BOY to EOYon the Acadience Reading Reading composite by 32% by providing systematic,evidence-based phonics instruction using targeted, evidence-based interventions through theFountas and Pinnell Reading Intervention Program and Wilson Reading Program, in smallgroup, differentiated instruction at the Tier 2 and Tier 3 levels, respectively, to fill in specific skillgaps and to improve the percentage of students moving out of well-below benchmark.

Actual Achievement in 2020-2021: The percentage of students in 2nd grade who scoredwell-below benchmark from BOY to EOY decreased by 16% overall (from 32% red to 16% red)and the number of students in well-below decreased from 39 to 20 (a decrease of 20students). 20 is 51% of 39 which meets the goal of at least a 32% decrease within thewell-below range.

We have new goals in 2021-2022 and are working hard to improve student skills andoutcomes as outlined in the board approved Early Literacy Plan for PHES 2021-2022.

Middle of year benchmarking for Acadience Reading will begin in December 2021.

K-5 Acadience Math (BOY 2021-2022)September 2022

Acadience Math is a new assessment required in grades K-3 across the state. PHES hadpreviously been using NWEA Map Growth assessments to measure math skills but, due to thestate requirements, had to switch assessments for grades K-3 in the 2021-2022 school year.Since the JH and HS were not intending to move forward with NWEA Map Growth and K-3 wasimplementing a new assessment, we determined it would be best for 4th grade and 5th grade toalso use the assessment that K-3 is using for continuity of programming, intervention, training, and support.

Like Acadience Reading, Acadience Math is a screener assessment and provides a“temperature check” on the included skills which speak to indicators of future learning success.

Blue = Above Benchmark / Likely to Need Core SupportGreen = At Benchmark / Likely to Need Core SupportYellow = Below Benchmark / Likely to Need Strategic SupportRed = Well Below Benchmark / Likely to Need Intensive Support

Students who flag as needing intensive support are included in Math Intervention pull outinstruction (1:1 and small groups, based on need), run by our math interventionists. Additionallystudents in this group are provided time and access for using the MobyMax Math software, whichis adaptive and individualized.

Students who flag as needing strategic support are provided with classroom interventionsupports from their teacher, as well as the MobyMax Math software. In some cases, studentsmay receive pull out instruction from interventionists, depending on need, space available, andstudent background.

Students who flag as needing core support are typically provided with classroom Tier 1instruction from their teacher, as well as the MobyMax Math software.

Middle of Year Benchmarking for Acadience Math will begin in January.
