REPORT ON FLUID CATALYTIC CRACKER – PROCESS MODELING & SIMULATION
Date: 12.06.2020 Time: 10-11.30 am
Objectives (Maximum 50 words):
The objectives of the webinar on Fluid Catalytic Cracker – Process Modeling & Simulation are Get the knowledge about the basic principles and concepts about Fluid
catalytic cracking (FCC) Enable the students to know about the recent trends in FCC equipments
employed in industries
Development of skills on Numerical modelling and kinetics dealt with FCC Enable the students to get interest in software and digital platforms
About the programme (Min 500 words): The speaker for the webinar was Mr. Murugesh Palanisamy, Senior Advanced
Software Engineer Honeywell Technology Solutions Lab, Bangalore. The programme was started on time with an introductory speech by Dr. N. Meyyappan, HOD/CHE. The programme is being professional and clearly
explained about the basic principles’ and concepts of cracking chemistry. It also dealt with recent equipments of catalytic cracker employed in industries. The
speaker clearly about FCC with da to day examples. Numerical modelling and kinetics importance was well defined and explained how to design an equipment through various models. review. The importance of software was clearly
explained and also encourage the students to get about the knowledge on software and digital platforms. The design of equipment is clearly explained with
example and give a knowledge of restricted and reduced equation to get a feasible output with least errors.
Benefits (Maximum 50 words): The benefits of the webinar are Academic industrial collaboration will be developed
Students get the knowledge about the cracking chemistry concepts and recent equipments equipped in industries
Research Scholars, faculty and students know the importance of numerical modelling and kinetics in process equipment design.
