My Diary By Lau Wing In, Toby (5A)

Date: 20th November, 2018 Weather: Sunny

I had a BAD day today! Today was a holiday.

I wanted to watch a film at the cinema. I went to the cinema by bus.

I got on the bus. I took a seat next to a man. First, he ate a banana. Then

he threw the banana peel onto the bus floor. Then he ate a chicken leg

noisily and messily. “You shouldn’t eat on the bus,” I said to the man

politely. “Mind your own business!” the man stared at me as if I had done

something wrong. I was speechless and felt embarrassed.

I was watching a film in the cinema when I heard a boy talking loudly on

the phone. People sitting next to him were annoyed. They grew angry when

the boy talked louder and louder. After 10 minutes, we finally could enjoy

    the film.

After watching the film, I went to a restaurant. I was waiting for the

food when I saw a girl playing noisily. She was so annoying.

In the end, I went back home to have cup noodles instead. For the

whole day, I was disturbed by those inconsiderate people. Have they ever

learnt these rules: we shouldn’t eat on the bus and we should not talk on

the phone at the cinema? We should behave ourselves in public places.

The New Cinderella By Cheung Suet Wing, Hannah (5B)

Once upon a time, there was a poor and hardworking girl,

Cinderella. She had two step–sisters who were lazy and cruel.

Their names were Amy and Mary. They were mean to Cinderella.

They ordered Cinderella to housework and Cinderella was still

    very polite to them.

One day, the king sent an invitation card to Cinderella’s house. A

message was written on the card, “Hello! I have an interesting party! If

you want to go to my party, go to my castle and have fun!” Cinderella

wanted to go but her step-sisters said, “You want to go? No way! Poor girl,

do more housework!” Cinderella cried. Then her step-sisters went to the

    castle.

Suddenly, an elf appeared. Cinderella was surprised. The elf said, “I

will help you.” And then Cinderella turned to a pretty princess and went to

    the party.

Mary and Amy saw the elf and they grabbed it hard. They said, “Hey!

We want a handsome prince, a cute dress and a big castle…” At that time,

the elf died because Mary and Amy grabbed him too hard.

After the party, the prince married Cinderella. However she was sad

because the elf died. Finally, Amy and Mary were sent to jail. Cinderella

and the prince lived happily ever after.

A Diary Entry By Hong Jolyn Lu (5C)

    24th November, 20XX Sunny

Yesterday, my classmate Ben and I went to the countryside.

The weather was good. It was sunny. We ate cookies and

sandwiches there, we also drank some water and cola. We were

    fine at that moment.

Suddenly, Ben climbed up the tree because he wanted to bring

the little crying birds down to feed them. I felt scared but he

was brave so I did not need to worry that much. When he was

taking the nest carefully, I heard the sound of the bees in the

trees, so I yelled, ‘Ben, get down now, there are a lot of bees

    there.’

When Ben saw the beehive above him, he was very terrified,

so he jumped off the tree. Although he had bruises all over his

knees, I was so glad that he did not get any injuries.

In the end, I put an ice pack on his knees and warned him not

to do any risky things again.

A Theft By Poon Ka Cheuk, Jacky (5C)

At eleven forty-five last night, Leo sat on his chair and

began to do his Maths homework. He said to himself, ‘I need to

do more quickly so I can study for my English test.’

Suddenly, a man with a mask climbed up the water pipe and

broke into his neighbour’s flat. However, Leo didn't notice the

thief. He was still doing his Maths homework.

When he was drinking some water, he turned around. He saw

the thief climb down the water pipe. And Tom shouted, ‘Help! All

my family's jewellery is stolen! We are tied up by a mysterious

stranger who is wearing a mask!’ Leo was worried. He dialed 999

immediately. ‘Hello? Is this the police?’ he asked. ‘Yes. What

happened?’ asked the police. ‘There’s a theft at my neighbour's

flat. He has stolen all the jewellery from them and tied them up.’

Leo replied. The police asked again, ‘What did he wear? How did

he climb up to the flat? And what were you doing when you saw

the theft?’ Leo answered, ‘I was drinking some water when the

theft climbed up the flat. He used the water pipe to climb up. He

wore a mask and a black suit.’ However, the call ended so Leo

went downstairs to his friend— Peter's house, but Peter had a

party and a lot of friends came to his house.

Soon, Leo was inside Peter's house. He told Peter and his

other friends that there was a theft at Tom's flat. He said, ‘This

is the mission. Peter and Andy, save Tom and his family. Also look

for clues in the flat. While Angus and Kelvin are investigating the

thief’s secret hideout, Benny and Carlos will take these

over-powered handcuffs when they don't see you. But don't hurt

them! The rest of us will take NERF® guns when Angus and Kelvin

have found the hideout and shot the thieves. Are you guys

ready?’ ‘Ready !!!’ the other children shouted. The mission

    started!

Peter and Andy went to Tom's flat and saved them. ‘Thanks!’

Tom said. Angus and Kelvin took their dogs — Biter, Lucky, Super

and Sniff. Luckily, they found the secret hideout quickly. There

were four thieves in total. They hid in a corner. After a while,

  • P. 33

the thieves came out. They had knives with them, Leo ran to face

them bravely. He said, ‘Freeze! Dirtbag! You are under arrest!’

However, the thieves didn’t listen to Leo. Leo's friends came to

help him. They took out NERF® guns and shot at the thieves.

While the thieves kept dodging the NERF® bullets, Benny

and Carlos sneaked to the thieves’ back and handcuffed them.

‘Yay! We’ve caught the thieves!' They shouted. Leo called the

police to take the thieves to prison. Later, the police arrived.

They took the thieves into their car and drove away.

The next day, Leo and his friends were invited to go to the

police station. The chief inspector said, ‘I'm glad that you guys

caught the thieves last night! I'll give you all a lot of gold and a

reward!’ ‘Sir, it’s Leo. We followed his orders so we could catch

them.’ said Peter, as he was pointing at Leo. You’re very brave!

Here’s the gold and a reward for your bravey.’

Leo went home and saw his pictures on the newspapers and

TV! Leo thought, What an unforgettable experience !

were scared so they called Mum. Mum came in and saw that

Grandma had fainted. She dialled 999 immediately.

  • P. 35

A few minutes later, the ambulance came. The ambulance

men lifted up Grandma and put her onto a first-aid automatic

loading stretcher. Next, they pushed the stretcher into the

ambulance and let Jamie, Jason and mum come with them.

Soon, they arrived at the hospital. The doctor

wrapped some bandage onto Grandma's head and ankle. After a

while, Grandma woke up. The doctor said, ‘I'm sorry. The patient

has to stay in hospital for a few days.’

Jamie and Jason felt sorry about it.

They told Mum the truth that they

played with water guns in the living room

and made Grandma fall down. Luckily,

Mum didn't punish them. They had learnt a lesson.

Finally, they went home. Jamie and Jason thought, What an

    unforgettable experience it was!

The New Cinderella By Chung Chui Shan, Sophia (5D)

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful girl, Cinderella, who

had two ugly sisters. Cinderella’s sisters asked her to do all the

housework. She swept the floor, washed all the dishes, hanged

up the washing and cleaned the furniture by herself at home.

She felt sad and tired because she worked all day without time

    to rest.

One day, the prince invited the girls in the city to his party.

Cinderella wanted to go to the party but she had no beautiful

dresses or shoes, then she cried. Suddenly, a fairy appeared

and she was willing to help her. The fairy turned Cinderella into

a princess. She looked pretty in the shiny dress and shoes.

She looked cute with ribbons. Cinderella’s sisters felt jealous

so they wanted to catch the fairy and they wanted to ask her for

beautiful dresses, a castle and a handsome prince.

In the end, the fairy turned the two ugly sisters into ants.

She thought they were too greedy. Eventually, Cinderella and the

prince got married. They lived happily ever after.

A Day in a Poor Village By Lee Shing Hin, Sam (6A)

Today I spent a meaningful day in a poor village in Yunan

because I joined a campaign to visit a poor village in China.

Yesterday, I came here by plane. It took three hours to get

to the village. We arrived at twelve o’clock at night. When I

arrived, I felt very exhausted so I went to sleep. But the bed

was too crowded. The family did not have enough beds so three

    people slept in one bed.

Today morning, I woke up at eight o’clock and started my day.

First, I wanted to take a bath so I went out to get some water

from the well. It was really far away. The water bucket was

  • P. 38

heavy so I could only take one bucket. But the children could take

two buckets so I was so worried that the children’s backs would

get hurt. After taking water, I took a bath. I was careless so I

spilt the water everywhere and I did not have enough water. I

needed to get water from the well again. After that, I ate

breakfast with the family. There was very little food so I still

    felt very hungry.

After breakfast, I went to school with the children. The

school was far away from the village. It took two hours to walk!

When we arrived the school, I thought the school was old. It

was not safe. I walked inside and the classroom was very dark,

there were very few desks and chairs. Some of the children

even sat on the floor. They did not have enough books so they

    shared one book.

After the trip, I thought living in Hong Kong is very fortunate.

We have enough food to eat. I have learnt that we should save

our things and donate money to the charity.

I hope three years later, they can have

    enough food to eat.

An Unforgettable Picnic By Lam Yau Wai, Hugo (6A)

Last week, I went on a picnic with my classmates. We went to

Ma On Shan Country Park. We were

    very excited.

When we arrived, Mary noticed the

monkeys. She pointed at them and

shouted, “There are monkeys! I don’t like monkeys!” “Me too!”

said the two girls. So we decided to look for somewhere to have

our picnic. We saw some picnic tables far away at the corner of

    the park.

We took out our food and all the things to play, such as

football and kites. I played happily with my classmates but

nobody took care of the food.

At the same time, the monkeys started to look for food to eat.

  • P. 40

They saw our delicious fruit on the table. One of the monkeys

jumped on the table and opened the bag. They passed the fruits

one by one. At last, all the fruits disappeared.

Soon we were tired and hungry, so we returned to the picnic

table. “Oh no! All our fruits are gone!” I yelled. Mike asked

    curiously. “What should we do?”

Suddenly, there was a voice, “Hello!” When I turned my head,

I saw my friends, they were having a barbecue. They invited us to

have a barbecue together. At last, we went home by train. We

were so tired that we all slept on the train.

That was an unforgettable day. I will never forget this

    amazing picnic.

A Day in a Poor Village By Wong Hiu Tung, Mary (6B)

    3rd January Sunny

I joined a charity event and I spent a day in Yunan. I arrived at Yunan

at 10:00 p.m. last night so I felt very tired. I stayed with a family in a

poor village. There were not enough beds. I needed to sleep with two

“strangers”. I couldn’t sleep well at night because the bed was too

    crowded.

When I woke up at six o’clock the next day, I had to get water from

the well to wash my face. The bucket was too heavy for me. I was

thinking about the people in Yunan. They had to walk for a long way to get

water every day. After work, I had a shower but there was no hot water.

Luckily it was a sunny day and the water was not very cold. Five minutes

later, I ate my breakfast. People in Yunan did not have enough food so I

    ate very little.

After I finished my breakfast, I went to school and taught the

children to study. There were not enough books so they had to share the

books with other children. Although the study area was small, they

    enjoyed their study.

At night, it was time to go back to Hong Kong. I said goodbye to

Yunan. I had an unforgettable experience. I think I am fortunate to

live in Hong Kong. I can study in a big, clean school. I think we can

donate money to help those in need. I will cherish my learning

    opportunities.

A Visit to The Elderly’s Home By Wong Cheuk Lam, Twinky (6B)

Yesterday my classmates and I went to visit an elderly’s home. We went there because we wanted to spread our love to the elderly. We were all vey expecting to the visit. When we arrived, the elderly welcomed us with their warm and cheerful smiles. We sang songs, played games and chatted together. Then we had lunch with them. Jack fed them carefully and I helped the others to put on their clothes. Suddenly Sally called my name and waved her hand. I went over to her. I was stunned. The scarves were missing. Sally said, “Maybe we’ve forgotten to bring them or we’ve left them on the bus.” I called Jack and Tim to come over and discussed what we should do. Tim suggested that we could buy a new one, but we did not have enough time. Jack suggested that we could make other things. However we did not have any materials. Then an elderly said, “I can teach you how to knit a scarf.” Oh! She had heard our discussion. The other elderly made scarves with us. We made them together. Before we left, we said goodbye to them. Today I learned that volunteering work is rewarding. You will be surprised by how much you will get back when you give your time to help others.

The Rooster and the Bee By So Tsz Shun, Jason (6C)

One summer, Rooster was excited and proud of his new

feathers. He was as happy as a pig in the mud. He sang all day

long. Although Bee told him to get prepared for winter, Rooster

did not care about it. He totally ignored Bee’s advice.

Soon, summer was gone and the freezing winter came. Of

course, Rooster could not find anything to eat so he wandered in

the snow. He was down in the dumps. Suddenly, he saw Bee’s

house so he knocked on the door and begged for food.

Fortunately, Bee gave him lots of honey. Rooster felt warm inside

and he was ashamed. He knew that he was as proud as a peacock

during summer but he did not prepare well. Therefore, he

apologized to Bee and Bee forgave him. He taught Rooster to

    prepare for winter patiently.

Day after day, Rooster went out to find food. Night after

night, he stored food and waited for winter. In the next summer,

Rooster really prepared a lot for winter and he had enough food

    to eat.

In the end, Rooster was grateful that he had such a good

friend. He learnt that he should always get

prepared before it is too late!

A Fight Between Good and Evil

By Lau Cheuk On, Kris (6C)

One day, when Billy was cleaning up his bedroom, he found a

treasure map under his bookshelf. The map showed the location

of a treasure so he was curious. He decided to find the treasure.

He prepared a rucksack and some tools.

Soon, he found a boat and started his

adventure. At the same time, two evil men followed

him closely. When Billy arrived at the island, he looked for the

treasure. After a while, he found a chest which was buried under

the dirt. He jumped up and down and tried to dig the chest out.

Suddenly, he was knocked out cold by two evil men. When Billy

woke up, one of the evil men said, ‘Thank you for leading us here.

Hey! Look! There’s a bird flying in the sky!’ ‘No, it’s a plane!’ the

    other one yelled.

‘Boom!’ Superman landed and shouted, ‘You’re wrong, I’m

Superman and I’m going to punish you two!’ The evil men laughed

at Superman because Superman did not have any weapons. They

got into ready position. However, the two evil men tried their

best, they were still not able to beat Superman. Superman

knocked them down easily. Then, he sent Billy to the hospital

safely. He also sent the evil men to the jail.

In the end, Billy burned the map because he did not want

other people to get into trouble like him. Since then, nobody

    could find the treasure.

A Week in a Poor Village By Li Zhi Yao, Venus (6C)

Last summer, I spent a week in a poor village in Nepal to

experience the lives in rural area. Before the journey, I had no

idea how their lives are because Nepal has a long history as the

poorest country in Southeast Asia. Half of the children under

the age of five are underweight. Two-third of the country’s

    population cannot read or write.

On the day I arrived Nepal, it was already night time. I

walked for an hour to the nearest village. A

generous family let me sleep in their house for a

week. I was grateful to them. When I went inside

their wooden house, there was a shocking scene. The house was

about to collapse and it was empty inside except a shabby bed. It

was really different from Hong Kong. Therefore, I had to share

the bed with the two kids in the family. We could hardly get

some space as we tried our best to squeeze like sardine. It was

so crowded and the weather was so hot. I felt uncomfortable and

  • P. 47

    could not fall asleep.

The next day, I woke up very early and started working with

the family. We walked through the damaged roads to the well. It

took a long time as the well is quite far away from their house.

The water there was muddy and smelly, even with dead fish

inside. The water bucket was too heavy so I had to use both

hands to carry it. My body sweated so much after working. Then,

I took a bath. The water for bathing was limited. There was no

heater and the water was as cold as ice. My body was shivering

while I was taking a bath.

After bathing, I had dinner with the family. There was only

some soup and a little rice. Although the meal was healthy, it was

tasteless. I was still hungry but I vomited after dinner. I

thought maybe the food sources were dirty. I felt sick for the

whole night, it was a torture for me!

  • P. 48

Another day started, I visited the only village school. There

were not enough chairs, books or desks for students. There were

no fans or air-conditioners either. The

facilities were really terrible. The students

were too poor so they had to share the

resources with one another. Although they

were studying in such a horrible environment, the students were

very eager to learn and there was always a smile on their face. I

really appreciate their learning attitude. After a while, it was

time to go. I waved goodbye to the children and

    flew back to Hong Kong.

The journey was meaningful and the memory

has engraved on my heart. It does not only

broaden my horizons, but also offer an

opportunity for me to reflect myself. I feel so fortunate to have

a warm family. I am so lucky to study in a well-equipped school.

Unlike people in Nepal, I should have nothing to complain. I

should never take things for granted and cherish everything I

    have.

    Good People Good Deeds:

A Visit to an Elderly’s Home By Huang-I Kan, Kenzie (6C)

It was a memorable experience. Everything happened will

    definitely engrave on my heart…

Recently, our school organized an activity which is a visit to an

elderly’s home. Our teacher wanted us to participate in such a

meaningful event. Therefore, our classmates and I went to an

elderly’s home near our school yesterday. We

have been preparing for the visit for two months

as we wanted to give a surprise to the elderly.

On the day of the visit, we arrived at school

early in the morning. We set off for the

elderly’s home at 9:00 a.m. When we arrived

there, we were welcomed by the staff and the elderly. The

teacher told us to serve two old ladies who cannot move properly.

They were unable to eat by themselves so they sat on a

wheelchair, waiting for our help. When I was feeding them, I

zoomed in their faces. Their magnificent silver hair crowned

  • P. 50

their wrinkled faces. They looked stunning. Although they ate as

slowly as snails, Jack and I fed them bit by bit. I thought, their

children must be too busy to take care of them because of their

work. The problem of aging population is getting more and more

serious. No wonder they have to stay here! The meal was really

simple but I had a strong feeling towards it. The scene was really

    heartbreaking.

After we finished the meal, I was ready to present the gifts

to the elderly. The weather was getting cooler so I believed my

gifts must be the best gifts ever! “Gosh!

Why is the paper bag empty?” I shouted

loudly, holding an empty paper bag. It made

my hair stand on end. Sally came over after

hearing me. We had no clues why our scarves

    were gone!

Then, I gathered my classmates and discussed what we could

do. Yet, we had different ideas that we could not compromise at

all. Meanwhile, the elderly had already waited for a long time.

One of them walked to us, ‘What are you talking about?’ We were

all shocked. I stuttered and told her everything. The old lady

tipped her head to one side without saying a word, I was afraid

  • P. 51

she was about to yell at us,

The old lady started, “Well, actually we’re grateful that

you’ve come and visited us today! The scarves do not mean

anything, but your action!” Her kind words melted my heart. I

immediately gave her a big hug – how warm it is!

In the end, my classmates and I still could not find the

scarves we knitted. Instead, we sang a song with the elderly

joyfully. We hugged them one by one. A small action makes a big

    difference, I thought.

I shared my experience with my classmates about this

unforgettable experience - It is more blessed to give than to

    receive.

A Visit to Hong Kong By Chok Ka Yi, Shirley (6D)

20th July, 2019 Sunny Last week my cousin came to Hong Kong to visit me. On Monday, I went to Ocean Park with him. We saw pandas and sharks there. We also went to see the dolphin show. We felt excited. The dolphins did many tricks. Sam said, ‘Look! They were awesome!’ I took some photos ofhe dolphins. On Tuesday, we went to the Science Museum to see an exhibition about the history of dinosaurs. We saw the dinosaur fossils. They were very big and high. We felt excited! Sam liked dinosaurs very much so he asked me to take photos for him with the dinosaur fossils.

On Friday, we went to the Space Museum to watch films about the space. The screen was very wide. We felt great! When we were leaving the museum, Sam discovered that his wallet was lost. Sam was very worried because the wallet was very important to him. A staff came to us. He asked, ‘Is the wallet yours?’ Sam replied, ‘Yes, thank you very much!’ The staff said, ‘Be careful and don’t lose it again!’ Then I took Sam home. Sam learnt a lesson. He would be more careful with his belongings. Besides, he was satisfied to the visit of Hong Kong.

We were scared to lose it. We checked our seats

and bags but still we could not find it.

Then we went to the Lost-and-Found office. I told the

staff that my cousin had lost a camera. She showed us a camera.

She asked me, ‘Is this yours?’ I replied, ‘Oh! Yes, it’s ours.

Thank you!’ We put it in the bag and continued to visit other
