    Were Mind, the mental health charity Were here to make sure anyone with a mental health problem has somewhere to turn for advice & support. Weve been working in Oxfordshire since 1967, & we support anyone who has been affected by mental health problems.     Oxfordshire Mind's Coping Skills courses have been organised with the support of

    Oxfordshire County Council & the Skills Funding Agency.

    Information & Options: Sit down & talk to one of our team

    about the support thats available.

    Short Courses: Learn the tools you need to look

    after your mental wellbeing & to get

    the most out of life.

    Recovery Planning: Talk about your personal goals with

    one of our team, & plan how you

    can reach them.

    Peer Support Groups: Meet up with other people who may

    have similar experiences. Groups

    usually meet once a week & are a

    safe space to share & talk.

    If youre struggling with depression,

    stress, anxiety or another mental

    health problem, then youre not

    alone 1 in 4 of us in Oxfordshire will

    experience some kind of mental

    health problem during our lives.

    Our Wellbeing Service provides vital

    support, advice & information anyone

    over the age of 16. You dont need a

    referral (for example, from a GP) &

    the service is free of charge.

    This booklet shows our programme

    of support for the next few months.

    The Oxfordshire Mind Wellbeing Service covers the whole of the county. Wherever you are, we have a team offering support near you. We have many short courses, peer support groups & other activities happening in Oxford.     Short Courses in Oxford Weve got short courses on lots of different topics, taking place in many venues around the county. All our short courses are free of charge. Anyone over 16 can join them - check each course description for any specific requirements or restrictions. Want to learn a new coping skill? Look for the starred courses. To join a short course youll need to book a place in advance. Each course has a number &/ or email address for you to use to book your place. Please note, our courses do not run on Bank Holidays.

    Silversmithing & Metal Work

    When? Wednesdays 10.30am to 2pm From 4 Sept to 9 Oct & From 6 Nov to 11 Dec

    An opportunity to learn basic Silversmithing & Metal Work techniques. Design & make your own silver jewellery. No previous experience is required & materials are supplied at cost price.

    Basic Guitar (please see restrictions)

    When? Thursdays 2pm to 3pm From 5 Sept to 10 Oct & from 31 Oct to 5 Dec

    Learn basic guitar skills - no previous experience necessary. Guitars provided, but if you have your own then please bring it along. This course is open to young carers & anyone who experiences severe & enduring mental health problems. Spaces are limited so call to book.

    Get into Reading

    When? Tuesdays 11.30am to 1pm From 10 Sept to 15 Oct & From 12 Nov to 17 Dec

    Meet others & gain confidence from reading & exploring literature together! There is no need to be able to read, just listen & enjoy or if you feel able to, you can read a passage with the group. Each week of the course stands alone, so you can join at any time. Everyone is welcome.

    Coping Skills: Self Esteem

    When? Mondays 11am to 1pm From 14 Oct to 25 Nov

    This course will provide us with the skills & techniques we need to boost our confidence & improve low self esteem. Each week covers a different topic. The course will be activity & discussion based & will use some cognitive behavioural therapy techniques. Interested? Come to the pre-course meeting on 14 October.

    Coping Skills: Assertiveness

    When? Weds 6.30pm to 8.30pm From 11 Sept to 23 Oct

    This course will look at what it is to be assertive, & will provide us with the skills to practise assertiveness techniques. The course will be activity & discussion based. Interested? Come to the pre-course meeting on 11 September.

    Coping Skills: Mindfulness in the Community

    When? Thursdays 6pm to 8.30pm From 17 Oct to 5 Dec

    Learn ways to process your daily experiences, & change your relationship to your thoughts & feelings, & to accept them without making judgements. An 8 week mindfulness-based cognitive therapy course, including a silent retreat on 23 Nov. To attend the course you must book a one-to-one assessment. You must attend all sessions, commit to home practise & we ask for a 30 contribution for the materials used.
