As a result of this £44million project, the Congress Theatre will have to close for a period of approximately 18 months from January 2017 followed by the Winter Garden for a similar period from January 2018. During this time we will continue to bring an impressive entertainment programme to our venues and we will be moving some of our regular Congress shows into our other performance spaces. The Devonshire Park Theatre will remain open throughout bringing you concerts, comedians and continuing to present first rate drama, comedy and of course our famous annual Pantomime! This is an exciting time for Eastbourne and this major investment into our theatres, conference and catering facilities will ensure top class entertainment on this site for generations to come.We look forward to welcoming you to Eastbourne Theatres very soon.Very best wishes Chris Jordan Artistic Director, Eastbourne Theatres

invinCibleWith the recession biting hard, Emily and Oliver have decided to downsize and shift their middle-class London lifestyle to a small town in the north of England. One night they open their doors and invite next door neighbours, Dawn and Alan into their home. Over the course of a disastrous evening of olives, anchovies, Karl Marx and abstract art; class and culture collide where the consequences are as tragic as they are hilarious. From one of the most exciting playwrights to emerge since Alan Ayckbourn, Torben Betts, and produced by the award-winning Original Theatre Company (Birdsong, Three Men In A Boat), comes a brand new production of the smash hit comedy, Invincible.

the hAlf life of loveBy Gail Louw
The half life of love is forever. It remains toxic, poisoning life long after love is over. Alex sits in his chair drinking red wine and listening to music, numb to all but his day to day existence. A sudden knock on the door late at night and Connor has turned up; 17, drunk, disorderly, a mess in the guise of a fit young lover. How does love and nurture turn to rejection and hatred? This latest play from Gail Louw, author of Blonde Poison, Miss Dietrich Regrets, Shackleton’s Carpenter is a thrilling examination of the complex relationships of adopted parents, their children and gay partners.Contains adult themes and explicit language.

A world premiere from Take the Space who brought us Sam & I, Hanging Hooke, Dolce Via and Stella. It’s April 1967: the heavyweight boxing champion of the world, Muhammad Ali, defies the US Military by refusing to fight in Vietnam. Meanwhile in a shabby Bethnal Green flat, an elderly boxing trainer, hears the news and recalls his own dilemmas of WW1, when Conscription in 1916 sent pacifists to prison or the firing squad; when he, at the peak of his boxing career and physical prowess, made a choice. Can Jimmy still be a contender and fight his demons from the past and can he tame one young demon from the present?

Dr. Henry Jekyll believes that there are two distinct sides to men - one good, one evil. Intent on separating the two, he succeeds in his experiments. However, in doing so he unleashes ‘Hyde’, a monstrous and uncontrollable alter ego. Prepare for the fright of your life in a dramatic new adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic and atmospheric Gothic melodrama. Ballroom, Blackpool & backstage dramasPerformed in the atmospheric surroundings of the Winter Garden and on the historic Floral Hall dance floor, this new play from the writer of The Thrill of Love and the hugely popular Be My Baby, looks at the real lives behind the fixed smiles and fake tan of the world of ballroom dance.Justin and Jodie have finally made it to Blackpool’s national championships – via the motorway hard shoulder. Luka’s come all the way from Russia. Nancy’s been training for this since she was three. Lee and Samantha arrive on a wave of success. But what if your dance-floor dreams are turning into a nightmare? How do you stop dancing to other people’s tunes? What can you do if your partner’s secret could cost you the crown? And, even when the whole world’s at your feet, it only takes one false step…
