Our Practice of Close Communion

We believe from Acts 2:42 and 1 Corinthians 10:16-17 that Holy Communion is the highest expression of our fellowship with Jesus and with each other, and that God intends the sacrament to be celebrated together by Christians who accept all the teachings of the Bible. If you are a guest and are not yet a member of the WELS/ELS fellowship, we invite you to learn more about us and, most of all, about the Savior whom God has sent. Then join with us at his communion table. To learn more about our faith and fellowship, speak with Pastor Brauer or Pastor Yahnke.

Personal preparation for Holy Communion can be found on page 156 in front of the hymnal.

Communion in Front Rows If you are unable to walk up to the rail for Communion, you may be seated in one of the

front pews during the service. The pastor and elders will come down to the front pews to distribute Communion.

New Sunday Adult Bible Class Topic – “Favorite Psalms” We all love singing hymns in worship and turning their words over in our minds. The

book of Psalms is the Holy Spirit’s hymnal in the Scriptures. In fact, many of our hymns are based on specific Psalms. In Sunday Bible class we are examining “Favorite Psalms.” Come for growth in faith and for fellowship with other believers.

Thanksgiving Services We gather in God’s house to thank him for all his blessings to us on Wednesday,

November 25 at 7:00, and on Thanksgiving Day at 9:00. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good (Psalm 118:1).

LPS 150th Anniversary Service Join us at a special 150th anniversary service on Sunday, November 15 at 3 pm in the

Luther Prep gymnasium. Choirs from Luther Prep, Michigan Lutheran Seminary, Martin Luther College and Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary will participate. The service can also be viewed via this link: http://livestream.com/lps/specialservices1516.

Christmas Cards Available It is not too early to get your Christmas Cards. The card committee has a nice selection

of cards available for purchase in the Fireside Room.

Advent by Candlelight Save the date. Trinity women (ages 14 and up) are invited to our third annual Advent by

Candlelight. It will be held in the Fireside Room on Sunday, December 6 at 6 pm. Join us for Christmas reflections, fellowship and dessert. We have the tables and the desserts, now we need the guests to sit and enjoy the evening. You can sign up in the Fireside Room or contact Kathy Strucely at 206-1745 or [email protected].

Men's Choir

The Men's Choir will practice this coming Tuesday evening, November 17, from 6:00 - 6:55 pm in the church basement. All men of the congregation who are interested in praising the Lord through music arranged for men's voices are invited to come.

Live Nativity The annual Live Nativity will be offered at St. Luke’s on the first weekend of December.

This is a joint effort of the four WELS churches in Watertown. Last year over 700 people heard the Christmas story. Lawn signs advertizing the event are available in the Fireside Room. Donations for the signs are appreciated. Sign-up sheets for cookies or serving are also found in the Fireside Room.

First Love at Christmas For several years the members of Trinity have opened their hearts at Christmas to help

out Trinity members and some in the community have a joyful Christmas. This has been done through money gifts or by purchasing items off the recipient’s wish list. You will find the First Love at Christmas brochure in the Fireside Room with more information.

November OWLS Meeting The next monthly meeting of our local OWLS chapter will be in Fort Atkinson, hosted

by St Paul's Lutheran Church on November 17 at 1:30 pm. Mr. Floyd Pfeifer of Fort Atkinson, a veteran of the Korean War, has gone on "The Honor Flight" to Washington DC and will tell of his experience. Refreshments follow. The Organization of WELS Seniors (OWLS) provides meaningful activity for those who are retired and/or 50 years old. Enjoy spiritual growth and the fellowship of neighboring WELS and ELS members. St. Paul's congregation, with over 1,250 members, traces its beginnings to 1861 on the greatest elevation in Fort Atkinson at 301 South High Street. You are invited, and bring a friend!

Cheer Bags for Our Shut-ins This year Pat Cowen and Kathy Strucely will be coordinating the collection and

distribution of the Cheer Bags to our shut-ins. We are looking for donations of homemade cookies and candy. Items such as the bags, fruit and other goodies will be purchased. If you would like to give a money donation to defray the cost of the purchased items, the money can be given to Pat or Kathy. The bags will be filled and distributed on Thursday, December 10 at 11 am.
