Vintage PostcardOverview

The students will create a ‘Vintage Postcard’ with Adobe Photoshop CS. The main objective is to teach students how to use Blending Mode, Texture Filters, and ‘Creating 3D Text’ on Photoshop.

Objectives. (Per Step)

Step 0: The students will prepare a set of assets for their project by gathering Photograph of the a specific Place.

- You can use this project to cover some of the state standards. For example, you could have students pick one of National Parks & Conduct Research on the chosen

national park...by finding its point of interest, photograph, etc.. (That should cover one of the social studies related standards)

Step 1: Creating Background Image

- The students will set up the correct margins to create a ‘bleeding edge’ for their project.

- The students will insert a ‘background image’ on Photoshop.

Step 2: Creating a ‘3D-Text’.

- The students will create a ‘3-D Text’ by utilizing multiple features / techniques on Photoshop.

Step 3: Inserting Photograph to individual letters.

- The students will insert photographs (from assets they gathered in step 0) to individual letters by using clipping mask.

Step 4: Adding Paper Texture & Postcard Image

- The students will add ‘texture filter’ by using Filter Gallery on Photoshop- The students will use blending mode to blend Postcard Image and their project to

make it look like an authentic ‘Vintage Postcard’.
